* mm/slab: rename CONFIG_SLAB to CONFIG_SLAB_DEPRECATEDVlastimil Babka2023-05-261-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As discussed at LSF/MM [1] [2] and with no objections raised there, deprecate the SLAB allocator. Rename the user-visible option so that users with CONFIG_SLAB=y get a new prompt with explanation during make oldconfig, while make olddefconfig will just switch to SLUB. In all defconfigs with CONFIG_SLAB=y remove the line so those also switch to SLUB. Regressions due to the switch should be reported to linux-mm and slab maintainers. * treewide: defconfig: address renamed CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO=yArnd Bergmann2022-09-111-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO is now implicitly selected if one picks one of the explicit options that could be DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT, DEBUG_INFO_DWARF4, DEBUG_INFO_DWARF5. This was actually not what I had in mind when I suggested making it a 'choice' statement, but it's too late to change again now, and the Kconfig logic is more sensible in the new form. Change any defconfig file that had CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO enabled but did not pick DWARF4 or DWARF5 explicitly to now pick the toolchain default. * sh: configs: Cleanup old Kconfig IO scheduler optionsKrzysztof Kozlowski2020-06-011-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ are gone since commit f382fb0bcef4 ("block: remove legacy IO schedulers"). The IOSCHED_DEADLINE was replaced by MQ_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and it will be now enabled by default (along with MQ_IOSCHED_KYBER). The BFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED is the only multiqueue scheduler which comes with group scheduling so select it in configs previously choosing CFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED. * sh: configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHKrzysztof Kozlowski2019-06-101-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because: 1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). * sh: Set CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2=nMatt Fleming2010-09-141-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | As the help for the config option suggests, this option really shouldn't be set by default for any recent distribution as it changes the layout of sysfs. I spotted this while running debian when udev got very confused by the sysfs layout and failed to create some device nodes.
