* jffs2: use generic posix ACL infrastructureChristoph Hellwig2014-01-251-0/+1
| | | | | | | | Also don't bother to set up a .get_acl method for symlinks as we do not support access control (ACLs or even mode bits) for symlinks in Linux. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

* new helper: file_inode(file)Al Viro2013-02-221-2/+2

* don't expose I_NEW inodes via dentry->d_inodeAl Viro2012-07-231-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | d_instantiate(dentry, inode); unlock_new_inode(inode); is a bad idea; do it the other way round... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* don't pass nameidata to ->create()Al Viro2012-07-141-2/+2
| | | | | | | | boolean "does it have to be exclusive?" flag is passed instead; Local filesystem should just ignore it - the object is guaranteed not to be there yet. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* stop passing nameidata to ->lookup()Al Viro2012-07-141-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | Just the flags; only NFS cares even about that, but there are legitimate uses for such argument. And getting rid of that completely would require splitting ->lookup() into a couple of methods (at least), so let's leave that alone for now... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* jffs2: Use pr_fmt and remove jffs: from formatsJoe Perches2012-03-271-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Use pr_fmt to prefix KBUILD_MODNAME to appropriate logging messages. Remove now unnecessary internal prefixes from formats. * jffs2: Convert printks to pr_<level>Joe Perches2012-03-271-3/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Use the more current logging style. Coalesce formats, align arguments. Convert uses of embedded function names to %s, __func__. A couple of long line checkpatch errors I don't care about exist. * jffs2: Convert most D1/D2 macros to jffs2_dbgJoe Perches2012-03-271-14/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | D1 and D2 macros are mostly uses to emit debugging messages. Convert the logging uses of D1 & D2 to jffs2_dbg(level, fmt, ...) to be a bit more consistent style with the rest of the kernel. All jffs2_dbg output is now at KERN_DEBUG where some of the previous uses were emitted at various KERN_<LEVEL>s. * switch ->mknod() to umode_tAl Viro2012-01-031-2/+2
| | | | Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* switch ->create() to umode_tAl Viro2012-01-031-3/+3
| | | | | | | | vfs_create() ignores everything outside of 16bit subset of its mode argument; switching it to umode_t is obviously equivalent and it's the only caller of the method Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* switch vfs_mkdir() and ->mkdir() to umode_tAl Viro2012-01-031-2/+2
| | | | | | | vfs_mkdir() gets int, but immediately drops everything that might not fit into umode_t and that's the only caller of ->mkdir()... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

* fs: take the ACL checks to common codeChristoph Hellwig2011-07-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Replace the ->check_acl method with a ->get_acl method that simply reads an ACL from disk after having a cache miss. This means we can replace the ACL checking boilerplate code with a single implementation in namei.c. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

| | | | | | | | We don't generate IN_DELETE_SELF on victim of overwriting rename() if it happens to be a directory. Trivially fixed by doing to ->i_nlink what we do ->pino_nlink a couple of lines later in jffs2_rename(). Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

* fs/vfs/security: pass last path component to LSM on inode creationEric Paris2011-02-011-5/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | SELinux would like to implement a new labeling behavior of newly created inodes. We currently label new inodes based on the parent and the creating process. This new behavior would also take into account the name of the new object when deciding the new label. This is not the (supposed) full path, just the last component of the path. This is very useful because creating /etc/shadow is different than creating /etc/passwd but the kernel hooks are unable to differentiate these operations. We currently require that userspace realize it is doing some difficult operation like that and than userspace jumps through SELinux hoops to get things set up correctly. This patch does not implement new behavior, that is obviously contained in a seperate SELinux patch, but it does pass the needed name down to the correct LSM hook. If no such name exists it is fine to pass NULL. Signed-off-by: Eric Paris <eparis@redhat.com>

* [JFFS2] Track parent inode for directories (for NFS export)David Woodhouse2008-05-011-10/+25
| | | | | | | | To support NFS export, we need to know the parent inode of directories. Rather than growing the jffs2_inode_cache structure, share space with the nlink field -- which was always set to 1 for directories anyway. Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <dwmw2@infradead.org>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Stop the JFFS2 filesystem from using iget() and read_inode(). Replace jffs2_read_inode() with jffs2_iget(), and call that instead of iget(). jffs2_iget() then uses iget_locked() directly and returns a proper error code instead of an inode in the event of an error. jffs2_do_fill_super() returns any error incurred when getting the root inode instead of EINVAL. * [JFFS2] Tidy up fix for ACL/permissions problem.KaiGai Kohei2007-10-201-28/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [In commit 9ed437c50d89eabae763dd422579f73fdebf288d we fixed a problem with standard permissions on newly-created inodes, when POSIX ACLs are enabled. This cleans it up...] The attached patch separate jffs2_init_acl() into two parts. The one is jffs2_init_acl_pre() called from jffs2_new_inode(). It compute ACL oriented inode->i_mode bits, and allocate in-memory ACL objects associated with the new inode just before when inode meta infomation is written to the medium. The other is jffs2_init_acl_post() called from jffs2_symlink(), jffs2_mkdir(), jffs2_mknod() and jffs2_do_create(). It actually writes in-memory ACL objects into the medium next to the success of writing meta-information. In the current implementation, we have to write a same inode meta infomation twice when inode->i_mode is updated by the default ACL. However, we can avoid the behavior by putting an updated i_mode before it is written at first, as jffs2_init_acl_pre() doing. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In particular, remove the bit in the LICENCE file about contacting Red Hat for alternative arrangements. Their errant IS department broke that arrangement a long time ago -- the policy of collecting copyright assignments from contributors came to an end when the plug was pulled on the servers hosting the project, without notice or reason. We do still dual-license it for use with eCos, with the GPL+exception licence approved by the FSF as being GPL-compatible. It's just that nobody has the right to license it differently. * [PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau2007-02-141-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When a filesystem decrements i_nlink to zero, it means that a write must be performed in order to drop the inode from the filesystem. We're shortly going to have keep filesystems from being remounted r/o between the time that this i_nlink decrement and that write occurs. So, add a little helper function to do the decrements. We'll tie into it in a bit to note when i_nlink hits zero.
