* Remove GENERIC_HARDIRQ config optionMartin Schwidefsky2013-09-131-19/+0
| | | | | | | | After the last architecture switched to generic hard irqs the config options HAVE_GENERIC_HARDIRQS & GENERIC_HARDIRQS and the related code for !CONFIG_GENERIC_HARDIRQS can be removed. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

* genirq: Fix up irq_node() for irq_data changes.Paul Mundt2010-10-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Now that the node ID is tracked in the irq_data structure, update the irq_node() definition accordingly. This fixes up irq_node() usage under GENERIC_HARDIRQS_NO_DEPRECATED && SMP. | * irq: initialize nr_irqs based on nr_cpu_idsMike Travis2009-01-111-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Impact: Reduce memory usage. This is the second half of the changes to make the irq_desc_ptrs be variable sized based on nr_cpu_ids. This is done by adding a new "max_nr_irqs" macro to irq_vectors.h (and a dummy in irqnr.h) to return a max NR_IRQS value based on NR_CPUS or nr_cpu_ids. This necessitated moving the define of MAX_IO_APICS to a separate file (asm/apicnum.h) so it could be included without the baggage of the other asm/apicdef.h declarations. * irq: for_each_irq_desc() move to irqnr.hKOSAKI Motohiro2008-12-261-10/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Impact: cleanup before CONFIG_SPARSE_IRQ age, for_each_irq_desc() sat in irqnr.h and could be called from generic code. CONFIG_SPARSE_IRQ breaks this assumption, but SPARSE_IRQ version for_each_irq_desc() also can move into irqnr.h easily. Also, this patch unifies CONFIG_SPARSE_IRQ and !CONFIG_SPARSE_IRQ for_each_irq_desc(). Signed-off-by: KOSAKI Motohiro <kosaki.motohiro@jp.fujitsu.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>

* sparse irq_desc[] array: core kernel and x86 changesYinghai Lu2008-12-081-11/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Impact: new feature Problem on distro kernels: irq_desc[NR_IRQS] takes megabytes of RAM with NR_CPUS set to large values. The goal is to be able to scale up to much larger NR_IRQS value without impacting the (important) common case. To solve this, we generalize irq_desc[NR_IRQS] to an (optional) array of irq_desc pointers. When CONFIG_SPARSE_IRQ=y is used, we use kzalloc_node to get irq_desc, this also makes the IRQ descriptors NUMA-local (to the site that calls request_irq()). This gets rid of the irq_cfg[] static array on x86 as well: irq_cfg now uses desc->chip_data for x86 to store irq_cfg. * genirq: improve include filesThomas Gleixner2008-10-181-0/+24
Move the irq_desc related iterators out of irq.h, into irqnr.h, also available via interrupt.h. This way non-genirq (and even non-hardirq) architectures get the common definitions and iterators. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
