| | * cpufreq: Add a generic cpufreq-cpu0 driverShawn Guo2012-09-091-0/+55
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It adds a generic cpufreq driver for CPU0 frequency management based on clk, regulator, OPP and device tree support. It can support both uniprocessor (UP) and those symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) systems which share clock and voltage across all CPUs. | | * PM / OPP: Initialize OPP table from device treeShawn Guo2012-09-091-0/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With a lot of devices booting from device tree nowadays, it requires that OPP table can be initialized from device tree. The patch adds a helper function of_init_opp_table together with a binding doc for that purpose. | | * acpi-cpufreq: Add support for disabling dynamic overclockingAndre Przywara2012-09-092-0/+104
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | One feature present in powernow-k8 that isn't present in acpi-cpufreq is support for enabling or disabling AMD's core performance boost technology. This patch adds support to acpi-cpufreq, but also includes support for Intel's dynamic acceleration. The original boost disabling sysfs file was per CPU, but acted globally. Also the naming (cpb) was at least not intuitive. So lets introduce a single file simply called "boost", which sits once in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq. This should be the only way of using this feature, so add documentation about the rationale and the usage. A following patch will re-introduce the cpb knob for compatibility reasons on AMD CPUs. Per-CPU boost switching is possible, but not trivial and is thus postponed to a later patch series. Signed-off-by: Andre Przywara <andre.przywara@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. | | * | Honor state disabling in the cpuidle ladder governorCarsten Emde2012-09-041-1/+9
| | |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are two cpuidle governors ladder and menu. While the ladder governor is always available, if CONFIG_CPU_IDLE is selected, the menu governor additionally requires CONFIG_NO_HZ. A particular C state can be disabled by writing to the sysfs file /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuN/cpuidle/stateN/disable, but this mechanism is only implemented in the menu governor. Thus, in a system where CONFIG_NO_HZ is not selected, the ladder governor becomes default and always will walk through all sleep states - irrespective of whether the C state was disabled via sysfs or not. The only way to select a specific C state was to write the related latency to /dev/cpu_dma_latency and keep the file open as long as this setting was required - not very practical and not suitable for setting a single core in an SMP system. With this patch, the ladder governor only will promote to the next C state, if it has not been disabled, and it will demote, if the current C state was disabled. Note that the patch does not make the setting of the sysfs variable "disable" coherent, i.e. if one is disabling a light state, then all deeper states are disabled as well, but the "disable" variable does not reflect it. Likewise, if one enables a deep state but a lighter state still is disabled, then this has no effect. A related section has been added to the documentation. Original driver by Simon Arlott. Rewrite including GPIO chip device by Chris Boot. Upstreaming changes by Stephen Warren: * Wrote DT binding documentation. * Changed brcm, function to an integer to more directly match the datasheet, and to match brcm, pins being an integer. * Implemented pull-up/down pin config. * Removed read-only DT property and related code. The restriction this implemented are driven by the board, not the GPIO HW block, so don't really make sense of a HW block binding, were in general incomplete (since they could only know about the few pins hard-coded into the Raspberry Pi B board design and not the uncommitted GPIOS), and are better represented simply by not writing incorrect data into pin configuration nodes. * Don't set GPIO_IN function select in gpio_request_enable() to avoid glitches; defer this to gpio_set_direction(). Consequently, removed empty bcm2835_pmx_gpio_request_enable(). * Simplified enabled_irq_map[]; make it explicitly 1 entry per bank. * Lifted use of enabled_irq_map[] outside the per-interrupt loop in IRQ handler, thus fixing an issue where the code was indexing into enabled_irq_map[] by intra-bank GPIO ID, not global GPIO ID. * Removed locking in IRQ handler, since all other code uses spin_lock_irqsave() and so guarantees it doesn't run concurrently with the handler. * Moved duplicated BUILD_BUG_ON()s into probe(). Also check size of bcm2835_gpio_pins[]. * Remove range-checking from bcm2835_pctl_get_groups_count() since we've decided to trust the pinctrl core. * Made bcm2835_pmx_gpio_disable_free() call bcm2835_pinctrl_fsel_set() directly for simplicity. * Fixed body of dt_free_map() to match latest dt_node_to_map(). * Removed GPIO ownership check from bcm2835_pmx_enable() since the pinctrl core owns doing this. * Made irq_chip and pinctrl_gpio_range .name == MODULE_NAME so it's more descriptive. * Simplified remove(); removed call to non-existent pinctrl_remove_gpio_range(), remove early return on error. * Don't force gpiochip's base to 0. Set gpio_range.base to gpiochip's base GPIO number. * Error-handling cleanups in probe(). * Switched to module_platform_driver() rather than open-coding. * Made pin, group, and function names lower-case. * s/broadcom/brcm/ in DT property names. * s/2708/2835/. * Fixed a couple minor checkpatch warnings, and other minor cleanup. This benefits processes that have very many mostly idle sockets, which is quite common. From Eric Dumazet. 10) Use up to 32K for page fragment allocations, with fallbacks to smaller sizes when higher order page allocations fail. Benefits are a) less segments for driver to process b) less calls to page allocator c) less waste of space. From Eric Dumazet. 11) Allow GRO to be used on GRE tunnels, from Eric Dumazet. 12) VXLAN device driver, one way to handle VLAN issues such as the limitation of 4096 VLAN IDs yet still have some level of isolation. From Stephen Hemminger. 13) As usual there is a large boatload of driver changes, with the scale perhaps tilted towards the wireless side this time around. Fix up various fairly trivial conflicts, mostly caused by the user namespace changes. * git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next: (1012 commits) hyperv: Add buffer for extended info after the RNDIS response message. hyperv: Report actual status in receive completion packet hyperv: Remove extra allocated space for recv_pkt_list elements hyperv: Fix page buffer handling in rndis_filter_send_request() hyperv: Fix the missing return value in rndis_filter_set_packet_filter() hyperv: Fix the max_xfer_size in RNDIS initialization vxlan: put UDP socket in correct namespace vxlan: Depend on CONFIG_INET sfc: Fix the reported priorities of different filter types sfc: Remove EFX_FILTER_FLAG_RX_OVERRIDE_IP sfc: Fix loopback self-test with separate_tx_channels=1 sfc: Fix MCDI structure field lookup sfc: Add parentheses around use of bitfield macro arguments sfc: Fix null function pointer in efx_sriov_channel_type vxlan: virtual extensible lan igmp: export symbol ip_mc_leave_group netlink: add attributes to fdb interface tg3: unconditionally select HWMON support when tg3 is enabled. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On small systems (e.g. embedded ones) IP addresses are often configured by bootloaders and get assigned to kernel via parameter "ip=". If set to "ip=dhcp", even nameserver entries from DHCP daemons are handled. These entries exported in /proc/net/pnp are commonly linked by /etc/resolv.conf. To configure nameservers for networks without DHCP, this patch adds option <dns0-ip> and <dns1-ip> to kernel-parameter 'ip='. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add rtnl_link_ops to IPoIB, with the first usage being child device create/delete through them. Childs devices are now either legacy ones, created/deleted through the ipoib sysfs entries, or RTNL ones. Adding support for RTNL childs involved refactoring of ipoib_vlan_add which is now used by both the sysfs and the link_ops code. Also, added ndo_uninit entry to support calling unregister_netdevice_queue from the rtnl dellink entry. This required removal of calls to ipoib_dev_cleanup from the driver in flows which use unregister_netdevice, since the networking core will invoke ipoib_uninit which does exactly that.
