This reverts commit 6ab317419c62850a71e2adfd1573e5ee87d8774f.
The commit [6ab317419c: ALSA: hda - Allow power_save_controller option
override DCAPS] changed the behavior of power_save_controller so that
it can override the driver capability. This assumed that this option
is rarely changed dynamically unlike power_save option. Too naive.
It turned out that the user-space power-management tool tries to set
power_save_controller option to 1 together with power_save option
without knowing what's actually doing. This enabled forcibly the
runtime PM of the controller, which is known to be broken om many
chips thus disabled as default.
So, the only sane fix is to revert this commit again. It was intended
to ease debugging/testing for runtime PM enablement, but obviously we
need another way for it.

Dmitry Akindinov is reporting for a problem where SYNs are looping
between the master and backup server when the backup server is used as
real server in DR mode and has IPVS rules to function as director.
Even when the backup function is enabled we continue to forward
traffic and schedule new connections when the current master is using
the backup server as real server. While this is not a problem for NAT,
for DR and TUN method the backup server can not determine if a request
comes from client or from director.
To avoid such loops add new sysctl flag backup_only. It can be needed
for DR/TUN setups that do not need backup and director function at the
same time. When the backup function is enabled we stop any forwarding
and pass the traffic to the local stack (real server mode). The flag
disables the director function when the backup function is enabled.
For setups that enable backup function for some virtual services and
director function for other virtual services there should be another
more complex solution to support DR/TUN mode, may be to assign
per-virtual service syncid value, so that we can differentiate the
requests.

The ab8500 device is a child of the prcmu device, which is a memory mapped
bus device, whose children are addressable using physical memory addresses,
not using mailboxes, so a mailbox number in the ab8500 node cannot be
parsed by DT. Nothing uses this number, since it was only introduced
as part of the failed attempt to clean up prcmu mailbox handling, and
we can simply remove it.

Now, "snapshot" file returns success on a reset of snapshot buffer
even if the buffer wasn't allocated, instead of returning EINVAL.

Updated documentation for the new ALPS touchpad support submitted in two
patchsets by Kevin Cernekee. My understanding is the most recent
patchset '"Dolphin V2" touchpad support' may still need some work but
Future work on the ALPS driver should not impact these documentation changes.

DM RAID: Add support for MD's RAID10 "far" and "offset" algorithms
Until now, dm-raid.c only supported the "near" algorthm of MD's RAID10
implementation. This patch adds support for the "far" and "offset"
algorithms, but only with the improved redundancy that is brought with
the introduction of the 'use_far_sets' bit, which shifts copied stripes
according to smaller sets vs the entire array. That is, the 17th bit
of the 'layout' variable that defines the RAID10 implementation will
always be set. (More information on how the 'layout' variable selects
the RAID10 algorithm can be found in the opening comments of
drivers/md/raid10.c.)

Meta core internal interrupts (from HWSTATMETA and friends) are vectored
onto the TR1 core trigger for the current thread. This is demultiplexed
in irq-metag.c to individual Linux IRQs for each internal interrupt.
External SoC interrupts (from HWSTATEXT and friends) are vectored onto
the TR2 core trigger for the current thread. This is demultiplexed in
irq-metag-ext.c to individual Linux IRQs for each external SoC interrupt.
The external irqchip has devicetree bindings for configuring the number
of irq banks and the type of masking available.

Add support for watchdog drivers to initialize/set the timeout field
of the watchdog_device structure. The timeout field is initialised
either with the module timeout parameter value (if valid) or with the
timeout-sec dt property (if valid). If both are invalid the initial
value is unchanged.

"Arnd's patch moves the dw_dmac to use generic DMA binding. I agreed
to merge this late as it will avoid the conflicts between trees.

The original device tree binding for this driver, from Viresh Kumar
unfortunately conflicted with the generic DMA binding, and did not allow
to completely seperate slave device configuration from the controller.
This is an attempt to replace it with an implementation of the generic
binding, but it is currently completely untested, because I do not have
any hardware with this particular controller.
The patch applies on top of the slave-dma tree, which contains both the base
support for the generic DMA binding, as well as the earlier attempt from
Viresh. Both of these are currently not merged upstream however.
This version incorporates feedback from Viresh Kumar, Andy Shevchenko
and Russell King.

Currently cfi_cmdset_0002.c does not support PPB locking of sectors. This
patch adds support for this locking/unlocking mechanism. It is needed on
some platforms, since newer U-Boot versions do support this PPB locking
and protect for example their environment sector(s) this way.
This PPB locking/unlocking will be enabled for all devices supported by
cfi_cmdset_0002 reporting 8 in the CFI word 0x49 (Sector Protect/Unprotect
scheme).
Please note that PPB locking does support sector-by-sector locking. But
the whole chip can only be unlocked together. So unlocking one sector
will automatically unlock all sectors of this device. Because of this
chip limitation, the PPB unlocking function saves the current locking
status of all sectors before unlocking the whole device. After unlocking
the saved locking status is re-configured. This way only the addressed
sectors will be unlocked.
To selectively enable this advanced sector protection mechanism, the
device-tree property "use-advanced-sector-protection" has been created.
To enable support for this locking this property needs to be present in the
flash DT node. E.g.:

Tested with Spansion S29GL512S10THI and Micron JS28F512M29EWx flash
devices.

error correction.

"The main addition here is a long-desired target framework to allow an
SSD to be used as a cache in front of a slower device. Cache tuning
is delegated to interchangeable policy modules so these can be
developed independently of the mechanics needed to shuffle the data

buffer usage gets streamlined, more mempool reliance is reduced and

A simple cache policy that writes back all data to the origin.
This is used to decommission a dm cache by emptying it.

A cache policy that uses a multiqueue ordered by recent hit
count to select which blocks should be promoted and demoted.
This is meant to be a general purpose policy. It prioritises
reads over writes.

Add a target that allows a fast device such as an SSD to be used as a
cache for a slower device such as a disk.
A plug-in architecture was chosen so that the decisions about which data
to migrate and when are delegated to interchangeable tunable policy
modules. The first general purpose module we have developed, called
"mq" (multiqueue), follows in the next patch. Other modules are
under development.
