* isdn/gigaset: remove obsolete compile time optionsTilman Schmidt2010-07-071-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | Remove compile time options in the Gigaset ISDN driver that aren't going to be changed anymore, and an obsolete FIXME comment. Impact: cleanup Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* isdn/gigaset: avoid copying AT commands twiceTilman Schmidt2010-07-071-7/+29
| | | | | | | | | | Change the Gigaset driver's internal write_cmd interface to accept a cmdbuf structure instead of a string. This avoids copying formatted AT commands a second time. Impact: optimization Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* gigaset: include cleanup cleanupTilman Schmidt2010-04-181-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit 5a0e3ad causes slab.h to be included twice in many of the Gigaset driver's source files, first via the common include file gigaset.h and then a second time directly. Drop the spares, and use the opportunity to clean up a few more similar cases. Impact: cleanup, no functional change Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> CC: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> Acked-by: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* gigaset: prune use of tty_buffer_request_roomTilman Schmidt2010-03-151-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Calling tty_buffer_request_room() before tty_insert_flip_string() is unnecessary, costs CPU and for big buffers can mess up the multi-page allocation avoidance. * tty: gigaset: really fix chars_in_bufferTilman Schmidt2009-09-191-12/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | The tty_operation chars_in_buffer() is not allowed to return a negative value to signal an error. Corrects the problem flagged by commit 23198fda7182969b619613a555f8645fdc3dc334, "tty: fix chars_in_buffers". Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Cc: "David S. * tty: fix chars_in_buffersAlan Cox2009-07-201-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | This function does not have an error return and returning an error is instead interpreted as having a lot of pending bytes. Reported by Jeff Harris who provided a list of some of the remaining offenders. Signed-off-by: Alan Cox <alan@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* gigaset: fix possible oops in error handlingTilman Schmidt2009-05-171-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | Use pr_warning() / pr_err() instead of dev_warn() / dev_err() in two places where the dev pointer isn't guaranteed to be valid. Impact: error handling bugfix Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* gigaset: in file ops, check for device disconnect before anything elseTilman Schmidt2009-04-061-28/+30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | When the device is disconnected, the dev structure goes away, so trying to report another error via dev_printk is bound to oops. To avoid that, first check whether the device is still connected and return quietly if it isn't. Impact: error handling Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Reported-by: Paul Bolle <pebolle@tiscali.nl> Tested-by: Paul Bolle <pebolle@tiscali.nl> Signed-off-by: David S. * gigaset: use pr_err() and pr_info()Tilman Schmidt2008-12-261-13/+13
| | | | | | | | | Switch from private printk wrapper macros to using pr_err() and pr_info() from linux/kernel.h, at the same time unifying a few error messages. Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* gigaset: get rid of info() and warn() macrosTilman Schmidt2008-11-291-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | Join the move away from the obsolete info() macro, opencoding the remaining uses. While we're at it, also get rid of the warn() macro by promoting the three remaining uses to err(). Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* gigaset: use dev_ macros for messagesTilman Schmidt2008-07-241-12/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | The info() / warn() / err() macros from usb.h for generating kernel messages are considered inferior to dev_info() / dev_warn() / dev_err() from device.h. Replace them where possible. Also correct the severity level and improve the text of one message. * [PATCH] tty: switch to ktermiosAlan Cox2006-12-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is the grungy swap all the occurrences in the right places patch that goes with the updates. At this point we have the same functionality as before (except that sgttyb() returns speeds not zero) and are ready to begin turning new stuff on providing nobody reports lots of bugs If you are a tty driver author converting an out of tree driver the only impact should be termios->ktermios name changes for the speed/property setting functions from your upper layers. If you are implementing your own TCGETS function before then your driver was broken already and its about to get a whole lot more painful for you so please fix it 8) Also fill in c_ispeed/ospeed on init for most devices, although the current code will do this for you anyway but I'd like eventually to lose that extra paranoia [akpm@osdl.org: bluetooth fix] [mp3@de.ibm.com: sclp fix] [mp3@de.ibm.com: warning fix for tty3270] [hugh@veritas.com: fix tty_ioctl powerpc build] [jdike@addtoit.com: uml: fix ->set_termios declaration] Signed-off-by: Alan Cox <alan@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Peschke <mp3@de.ibm.com> Acked-by: Peter Oberparleiter <oberpar@de.ibm.com> Cc: Cornelia Huck <cornelia.huck@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Hugh Dickins <hugh@veritas.com> Signed-off-by: Jeff Dike <jdike@addtoit.com> Cc: Paolo 'Blaisorblade' Giarrusso <blaisorblade@yahoo.it> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* Driver core: convert tty core to use struct deviceGreg Kroah-Hartman2006-12-011-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | Converts from using struct "class_device" to "struct device" making everything show up properly in /sys/devices/ with symlinks from the /sys/class directory. Also fixes up the isdn drivers that were putting something in the class device's directory. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] const struct tty_operationsJeff Dike2006-10-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As part of an SMP cleanliness pass over UML, I consted a bunch of structures in order to not have to document their locking. One of these structures was a struct tty_operations. In order to const it in UML without introducing compiler complaints, the declaration of tty_set_operations needs to be changed, and then all of its callers need to be fixed. This patch declares all struct tty_operations in the tree as const. In all cases, they are static and used only as input to tty_set_operations. As an extra check, I ran an i386 allyesconfig build which produced no extra warnings. 53 drivers are affected. I checked the history of a bunch of them, and in most cases, there have been only a handful of maintenance changes in the last six months. serial_core.c was the busiest one that I looked at. | | | | | | | | | | I've always found this flag confusing. Now that devfs is no longer around, it has been renamed, and the documentation for when this flag should be used has been updated. Also fixes all drivers that use this flag. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] devfs: Remove the tty_driver devfs_name field as it's no longer neededGreg Kroah-Hartman2006-06-261-3/+1
| | | | | | Also fixes all drivers that set this field. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] i4l gigaset: move sysfs entry to tty class deviceHansjoerg Lipp2006-06-211-1/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | Using the class device pointer returned by tty_register_device() with part 1 of the patch, attach the Gigaset drivers' "cidmode" sysfs entry to its tty class device, where it can be found more easily by users who do not know nor care which USB port the device is attached to.
