| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I started looking at the history of this driver, and last time the maintainer was active on the mailing list was when discussing how to remove it. This was in 2012: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/4F4DE175.30002@melware.de/ It looks to me like this has in practice been an orphan for quite a while. It's throwing warnings about stack size in a function that is in dire need of refactoring, and it's probably a case of "it's time to call it". | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Two arrays are clearly bit maps, so, make that explicit by converting to bitmap API and remove custom helpers. Note sig_ind() uses out of boundary bit to (looks like) protect against potential bitmap_empty() checks for the same bitmap. This patch removes that since: 1) that didn't guarantee atomicity anyway; 2) the first operation inside the for-loop is set bit in the bitmap (which effectively makes it non-empty); 3) group_optimization() doesn't utilize possible emptiness of the bitmap in question. Since the cau_t[] has 9 elements if Reject == 9 then we are reading beyond the end of the array. My understanding of the code is that it's saying that if Reject is 1 or too high then that's invalid and we should hang up. The array has a length in byte 0 followed by a T30_INFO struct starting at byte 1. The T30_INFO struct has a number of variable length strings after the station_id entry, which cannot be explicitly defined in the struct and the driver accesses them with an array index to station_id beyond the length of station_id. This patch merely changes the semantics that the driver uses to access the entries after the station_id entry to use the original 256 byte nlc array taking the offset and length of the station_id entry to calculate where to write in the array, thereby silencing the warning. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
