* media: uvcvideo: Fix comment blocks styleLaurent Pinchart2022-07-168-82/+156
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The uvcvideo driver historically uses the /* Comment * style */ for multi-line block comments, which is frowned upon. Patches for the driver are required to use the more standard /* * Comment * style */ style. This result in inconsistencies. Fix it by converting all remaining instances of the old style. * media: uvcvideo: Add UVC_GUID_FORMAT_H265James_Lin2022-05-082-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch aims to add UVC_GUID_FORMAT_H265 High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265 and MPEG-H Part 2. They describe the same video encoding method. So for handling their behavior is the same. However, when external camera device describes this encoding method, some use hevc, some use h265. There is no uniform specification to describe this encoding method. So if an external camera device use h265 to describe this encoding method, driver will not recognize it. Therefore, this patch is to enable driver to read HEVC/H265 and convert it to V4L2_PIX_FMT_HEVC. * media: uvcvideo: Fix missing check to determine if element is found in listXiaomeng Tong2022-05-081-9/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The list iterator will point to a bogus position containing HEAD if the list is empty or the element is not found in list. This case should be checked before any use of the iterator, otherwise it will lead to a invalid memory access. The missing check here is before "pin = iterm->id;", just add check here to fix the security bug. In addition, the list iterator value will *always* be set and non-NULL by list_for_each_entry(), so it is incorrect to assume that the iterator value will be NULL if the element is not found in list, considering the (mis)use here: "if (iterm == NULL". Use a new value 'it' as the list iterator, while use the old value 'iterm' as a dedicated pointer to point to the found element, which 1. can fix this bug, due to 'iterm' is NULL only if it's not found. 2. do not need to change all the uses of 'iterm' after the loop. 3. can also limit the scope of the list iterator 'it' *only inside* the traversal loop by simply declaring 'it' inside the loop in the future, as usage of the iterator outside of the list_for_each_entry is considered harmful. https://lkml.org/lkml/2022/2/17/1032 Fixes: d5e90b7a6cd1c ("[media] uvcvideo: Move to video_ioctl2") Signed-off-by: Xiaomeng Tong <xiam0nd.tong@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@kernel.org>

* media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependenciesMauro Carvalho Chehab2022-03-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API: VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2. On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag. VIDEO_DEV were meant to: 1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear; 2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core. while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one. With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of all V4L version 1 drivers. At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables the media options related to V4L, that now has: menu "Video4Linux options" visible if VIDEO_DEV source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig" endmenu but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers. The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other Kconfig options: config VIDEO_V4L2 tristate depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV select RATIONAL select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies. Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig configurations. The Elgato Cam Link 4K responds to the USB video probe VS_PROBE_CONTROL/VS_COMMIT_CONTROL with a malformed data structure: The second byte contains bFormatIndex (instead of being the second byte of bmHint). The first byte is always zero. The third byte is always 1. The firmware bug was reported to Elgato on 2020-12-01 and it was forwarded by the support team to the developers as feature request. There is no firmware update available since then. The latest firmware for Elgato Cam Link 4K as of 2021-03-23 has MCU 20.02.19 and FPGA 67. Therefore correct the malformed data structure for this device. The change was successfully tested with VLC, OBS, and Chromium using different pixel formats (YUYV, NV12, YU12), resolutions (3840x2160, 1920x1080), and frame rates (29.970 and 59.940 fps). If the architechture has coherent cache, the API falls back to alloc_dma_pages, so we can remove the coherent caching code-path from the driver, making it simpler. With this patch on the affected architectures we can measure up to 20x performance improvement in uvc_video_copy_data_work(). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some devices reference an output terminal as the source of extension units. This is incorrect, as output terminals only have an input pin, and thus can't be connected to any entity in the forward direction. The resulting topology would cause issues when registering the media controller graph. To avoid this problem, connect the extension unit to the source of the output terminal instead. While at it, and while no device has been reported to be affected by this issue, also handle forward scans where two output terminals would be connected together, and skip the terminals found through such an invalid connection. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some devices can implement a physical switch to disable the input of the camera on demand. Think of it like an elegant privacy sticker. The system can read the status of the privacy switch via a GPIO. It is important to know the status of the switch, e.g. to notify the user when the camera will produce black frames and a videochat application is used. In some systems, the GPIO is connected to the main SoC instead of the camera controller, with the connection reported by the system firmware (ACPI or DT). In that case, the UVC device isn't aware of the GPIO. We need to implement a virtual entity to handle the GPIO fully on the driver side. For example, for ACPI-based systems, the GPIO is reported in the USB device object: Scope (\_SB.PCI0.XHCI.RHUB.HS07) { /.../ Name (_CRS, ResourceTemplate () // _CRS: Current Resource Settings { GpioIo (Exclusive, PullDefault, 0x0000, 0x0000, IoRestrictionOutputOnly, "\\_SB.PCI0.GPIO", 0x00, ResourceConsumer, , ) { // Pin list 0x0064 } }) Name (_DSD, Package (0x02) // _DSD: Device-Specific Data { ToUUID ("daffd814-6eba-4d8c-8a91-bc9bbf4aa301") /* Device Properties for _DSD */, Package (0x01) { Package (0x02) { "privacy-gpio", Package (0x04) { \_SB.PCI0.XHCI.RHUB.HS07, Zero, Zero, One } } } }) } Signed-off-by: Ricardo Ribalda <ribalda@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
