* | [PATCH] fix missing includesTim Schmielau2005-10-3022-10/+45
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I recently picked up my older work to remove unnecessary #includes of sched.h, starting from a patch by Dave Jones to not include sched.h from module.h. This reduces the number of indirect includes of sched.h by ~300. Another ~400 pointless direct includes can be removed after this disentangling (patch to follow later). However, quite a few indirect includes need to be fixed up for this. In order to feed the patches through -mm with as little disturbance as possible, I've split out the fixes I accumulated up to now (complete for i386 and x86_64, more archs to follow later) and post them before the real patch. This way this large part of the patch is kept simple with only adding #includes, and all hunks are independent of each other. So if any hunk rejects or gets in the way of other patches, just drop it. My scripts will pick it up again in the next round. * | [ARM] Fix Assabet reboot with SA1100 MTD map driverRussell King2005-10-291-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Unfortunately, some devices forgot to reset the flash on reboot. Arrange for the map driver to suspend & resume the flash to ensure that it is in a sane state before rebooting. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

* | [PATCH] DRIVER MODEL: Get rid of the obsolete tri-level suspend/resume callbacksRussell King2005-10-281-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In PM v1, all devices were called at SUSPEND_DISABLE level. Then all devices were called at SUSPEND_SAVE_STATE level, and finally SUSPEND_POWER_DOWN level. However, with PM v2, to maintain compatibility for platform devices, I arranged for the PM v2 suspend/resume callbacks to call the old PM v1 suspend/resume callbacks three times with each level in order so that existing drivers continued to work. Since this is obsolete infrastructure which is no longer necessary, we can remove it. Here's an (untested) patch to do exactly that. * | [PATCH] Driver Core: fix up all callers of class_device_create()Greg Kroah-Hartman2005-10-281-2/+2

* [PATCH] vfree and kfree cleanup in drivers/Jesper Juhl2005-09-102-13/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch does a full cleanup of 'NULL checks before vfree', and a partial cleanup of calls to kfree for all of drivers/ - the kfree bit is partial in that I only did the files that also had vfree calls in them. The patch also gets rid of some redundant (void *) casts of pointers being passed to [vk]free, and a some tiny whitespace corrections also crept in. * [PATCH] detect soft lockupsIngo Molnar2005-09-071-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds a new kernel debug feature: CONFIG_DETECT_SOFTLOCKUP. When enabled then per-CPU watchdog threads are started, which try to run once per second. If they get delayed for more than 10 seconds then a callback from the timer interrupt detects this condition and prints out a warning message and a stack dump (once per lockup incident). The feature is otherwise non-intrusive, it doesnt try to unlock the box in any way, it only gets the debug info out, automatically, and on all CPUs affected by the lockup. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The code was wrong in several aspects. The locking order was inconsistent, the device aquire code did not reset a variable after a wakeup and the wakeup handling was not working for applications where multiple chips are sharing a single hardware controller. When a hardware controller is available the locking is now reduced to the hardware controller lock and the waitqueue is moved to the hardware controller structure in order to avoid a wake_up_all(). The problem was pointed out by Ben Dooks, who also found the missing variable reset as main cause for his deadlock problem. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>
