Since commit 43a7206b0963 ("driver core: class: make class_register() take
a const *"), the driver core allows for struct class to be in read-only
memory, so move the pcmcia_socket_class structure to be declared at build
time placing it into read-only memory, instead of having to be dynamically
allocated at boot time.

Now that the driver core can properly handle constant struct bus_type,
move the pcmcia_bus_type variable to be a constant structure as well,
placing it into read-only memory which can not be modified at runtime.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

Afer commit 1fa5ae857bb1 ("driver core: get rid of struct device's
bus_id string array"), the name of device is allocated dynamically.
Therefore, it needs to be freed, which is done by the driver core for
us once all references to the device are gone. Therefore, move the
dev_set_name() call immediately before the call device_register(), which
either succeeds (then the freeing will be done upon subsequent remvoal),
or puts the reference in the error call. Also, it is not unusual that the
return value of dev_set_name is not checked.

As the comment of device_register() says, it should use put_device()
to give up the reference in the error path. Then, insofar resources
will be freed in pcmcia_release_dev(), the error path is no longer
needed. In particular, this means that the (previously missing) dropping
of the reference to &p_dev->function_config->ref is now handled by
pcmcia_release_dev().

If device_register() returns error in pccardd(), it leads two issues:
1. The socket_released has never been completed, it will block
pcmcia_unregister_socket(), because of waiting for completion
of socket_released.
2. The device name allocated by dev_set_name() is leaked.
Fix this two issues by calling put_device() when device_register() fails.
socket_released can be completed in pcmcia_release_socket(), the name can
be freed in kobject_cleanup().

On s390 systems (aka mainframes), it has classic channel devices for
networking and permanent storage that are currently even more common
than PCI devices. Hence it could have a fully functional s390 kernel
with CONFIG_PCI=n, then the relevant iomem mapping functions
[including ioremap(), devm_ioremap(), etc.] are not available.
Here let depend PCMCIA on HAS_IOMEM so that it won't be built to
cause below compiling error if PCI is unset.

Besides, many other Kconfig option, e.g IPWIRELESS, PCMCIA_PCNET,
PCMCIA_FMVJ18X, PCMCIA_SMC91C92 which depends on PCMCIA also will
cause compiling error if enabled.

The add_dev and remove_dev callbacks in struct class_interface currently
pass in a pointer back to the class_interface structure that is calling
them, but none of the callback implementations actually use this pointer
as it is pointless (the structure is known, the driver passed it in in
the first place if it is really needed again.)
So clean this up and just remove the pointer from the callbacks and fix
up all callback functions.

The struct class callback, class_release(), is only called in 2 places,
the pcmcia cardservices code, and in the class driver core code. Both
places it is safe to mark the structure as a const *, to allow us to
in the future mark all struct class usages as constant and move into
read-only memory.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/driver-core
Pull driver core updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the large set of driver core changes for 6.3-rc1.
There's a lot of changes this development cycle, most of the work
falls into two different categories:
- fw_devlink fixes and updates. This has gone through numerous review
cycles and lots of review and testing by lots of different devices.
Hopefully all should be good now, and Saravana will be keeping a
watch for any potential regression on odd embedded systems.
- driver core changes to work to make struct bus_type able to be
moved into read-only memory (i.e. const) The recent work with Rust
has pointed out a number of areas in the driver core where we are
passing around and working with structures that really do not have
to be dynamic at all, and they should be able to be read-only
making things safer overall. This is the contuation of that work
(started last release with kobject changes) in moving struct
bus_type to be constant. We didn't quite make it for this release,
but the remaining patches will be finished up for the release after
this one, but the groundwork has been laid for this effort.
Other than that we have in here:
- debugfs memory leak fixes in some subsystems
- error path cleanups and fixes for some never-able-to-be-hit
codepaths.
- cacheinfo rework and fixes
- Other tiny fixes, full details are in the shortlog
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
problems"

The majority of all pxa board files has not been touched in a long time,
and no users have spoken up in favor of keeping them around. This leaves
only support for the platforms that were already converted to DT, as
well as the gumstix and spitz/akita/borzoi machines that work in qemu
and can still be converted to DT later.

Due to several bugs caused by timers being re-armed after they are
shutdown and just before they are freed, a new state of timers was added
called "shutdown". After a timer is set to this state, then it can no
longer be re-armed.
The following script was run to find all the trivial locations where
del_timer() or del_timer_sync() is called in the same function that the
object holding the timer is freed. It also ignores any locations where
the timer->function is modified between the del_timer*() and the free(),
as that is not considered a "trivial" case.
This was created by using a coccinelle script and the following
commands:
$ cat timer.cocci
@@
expression ptr, slab;
identifier timer, rfield;

(
- del_timer(&ptr->timer);
+ timer_shutdown(&ptr->timer);

As noted by Arnd Bergmann, "we used to have three drivers for the same
hardware (pcmcia, pata and ide), and only the pcmcia driver remained
in the tree after drivers/ide/ was removed and pata_at91 did not get
converted to DT". "There is no dts file in tree that actually declares
either of them, so chances are that nobody is actually using the CF
slot on at91 any more."[1]
On this rationale, remove the AT91RM9200 Compact Flash driver, which
also assists in reaching "the goal of stopping exporting OF-specific
APIs of gpiolib".[2]

PXA and StrongARM1100 traditionally map their I/O space 1:1 into virtual
memory, using a per-bus io_offset that matches the base address of the
ioremap mapping.
In order for PXA to work in a multiplatform config, this needs to
change so I/O space starts at PCI_IOBASE (0xfee00000). Since the pcmcia
soc_common support is shared with StrongARM1100, both have to change at
the same time. The affected machines are:
- Anything with a PCMCIA slot now uses pci_remap_iospace, which
is made available to PCMCIA configurations as well, rather than
just PCI. The first PCMCIA slot now starts at port number 0x10000.
- The Zeus and Viper platforms have PC/104-style ISA buses,
which have a static mapping for both I/O and memory space at
0xf1000000, which can no longer work. It does not appear to have
any in-tree users, so moving it to port number 0 makes them
behave like a traditional PC.
- SA1100 does support ISA slots in theory, but all machines that
originally enabled this appear to have been removed from the tree
ages ago, and the I/O space is never mapped anywhere.
- The Nanoengine machine has support for PCI slots, but looks
like this never included I/O space, the resources only define the
location for memory and config space.
With this, the definitions of __io() and IO_SPACE_LIMIT can be simplified,
as the only remaining cases are the generic PCI_IOBASE and the custom
inb()/outb() macros on RiscPC. S3C24xx still has a custom inb()/outb()
in this here, but this is already removed in another branch.

The mach/hardware.h is included in lots of places, and it provides
three different things on pxa:
- the cpu_is_pxa* macros
- an indirect inclusion of mach/addr-map.h
- the __REG() and io_pv2() helper macros
Split it up into separate <linux/soc/pxa/cpu.h> and mach/pxa-regs.h
headers, then change all the files that use mach/hardware.h to
include the exact set of those three headers that they actually
need, allowing for further more targeted cleanup.
linux/soc/pxa/cpu.h can remain permanently exported and is now in
a global location along with similar headers. pxa-regs.h and
addr-map.h are only used in a very small number of drivers now
and can be moved to arch/arm/mach-pxa/ directly when those drivers
are to pass the necessary data as resources.

It is not recommened to use platform_get_resource(pdev, IORESOURCE_IRQ)
for requesting IRQ's resources any more, as they can be not ready yet in
case of DT-booting.
platform_get_irq() instead is a recommended way for getting IRQ even if
it was not retrieved earlier.
It also makes code simpler because we're getting "int" value right away
and no conversion from resource to int is required.

The ISA I/O space handling in omap_cf is incompatible with
PCI drivers in a multiplatform kernel, and requires a custom
mach/io.h.
Change the driver to use pci_remap_iospace() like PCI drivers do,
so the generic ioport access can work across platforms.
To actually use that code, we have to select CONFIG_PCI
here.

I have no reason to believe these boards have any more users and I
haven't tested them for several years. Removing them may simplify
other changes to the various PXA boards people still care about.
The recent conversion of pxa2xx_spi to GPIO descriptors for example
had to update this board despite no one caring or testing.
Great boards that got me started in kernel development, RIP!

Currently, yenta_dev_suspend_noirq(), yenta_dev_resume_noirq(), and
yenta_pm_ops are covered by "#ifdef CONFIG_PM", which results in
compiler warnings in kernels built with CONFIG_PM_SLEEP=n and
CONFIG_PM=y:
drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.c:1322:12: warning: ‘yenta_dev_resume_noirq’ defined but not used [-Wunused-function]
1322 | static int yenta_dev_resume_noirq(struct device *dev)
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.c:1303:12: warning: ‘yenta_dev_suspend_noirq’ defined but not used [-Wunused-function]
1303 | static int yenta_dev_suspend_noirq(struct device *dev)
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This affects kernels built without suspend and hibernation.
Avoid these warnings by using "#ifdef CONFIG_PM_SLEEP".

We need to set TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE before calling kthread_should_stop().
Otherwise, kthread_stop() might see that the pccardd thread is still
in TASK_RUNNING state and fail to wake it up.
Additionally, we only need to set the state back to TASK_RUNNING if
kthread_should_stop() breaks the loop.
