| * qeth: postpone open till recovery is finishedUrsula Braun2011-01-152-4/+32
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The open function of qeth is not executed if the qeth device is in state DOWN or HARDSETUP. A recovery switches from state SOFTSETUP to HARDSETUP to DOWN to HARDSETUP and back to SOFTSETUP. If open and recover are running concurrently, open fails if it hits the states HARDSETUP or DOWN. This patch inserts waiting for recovery finish in the qeth open functions to enable successful qeth device opening in spite of a running recovery. By setting the threshold the driver can tell qdio after how much used SBALs qdio should schedule the outbound tasklet that scans the queue for finished SBALs. The threshold is specific by the drivers because a Hipersockets device is much faster in utilizing outbound buffers than a ZFCP or OSA device. The default values after how many used SBALs the tasklet should run are: OSA: > 31 SBALs Hipersockets: > 7 SBALs zfcp: > 55 SBALs Signed-off-by: Jan Glauber <jang@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

* | | qeth: enable interface setup if LAN is offlineUrsula Braun2010-11-282-10/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Device initialization of a qeth device contains a STARTLAN step. This step may fail, if cable is not yet plugged in. The qeth device stays in state HARDSETUP until cable is plugged in. This prevents further preparational initialization steps of the qeth device and its network interface. This patch makes sure initialization of qeth device continues, even though cable is not yet plugged in. Once carrier is available, qeth is notified, triggers a recovery which results in a working network interface. * | qeth: remove dev_queue_xmit invocationUrsula Braun2010-11-082-54/+8
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | For a certain Hipersockets specific error code in the xmit path, the qeth driver tries to invoke dev_queue_xmit again. Commit 79640a4ca6955e3ebdb7038508fa7a0cd7fa5527 introduces a busylock causing locking problems in case of re-invoked dev_queue_xmit by qeth. * | qeth: NAPI support for l2 and l3 disciplineFrank Blaschka2010-09-084-138/+260
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds NAPI support to the qeth layer 2 and layer 3 discipline. It is important to understand that we can not enable/disable IRQs as usual, we have to use the corresponding new QDIO interface. Also to not overdraw the budget we have to stop and restart buffer processing at any point during processing a bulk of QDIO buffers. Having the driver NAPI enabled it is possible to turn on GRO for the layer 3 discipline. Signed-off-by: Frank Blaschka <frank.blaschka@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch serializes device removal and other sysfs-triggered configurations by moving removal of sysfs-attributes to the beginning of the remove functions. And it serializes online/offline setting and discipline-switching (causing reestablishing of the net_device) by making use of a new discipline mutex. * qeth: Clear mac_bits field when switching between Layer 2 and Layer 3Carsten Otte2010-07-231-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes a problem that occurs when switching from layer 3 to layer 2 mode. Resetting this mac_bits makes sure that we retrieve our mac address from the card, otherwise the interface simply would'nt work. * qeth: IP address takeover flag settingKlaus-Dieter Wacker2010-07-235-9/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | The qeth IP address flag setting is possible when device is offline. When setting device online afterwards the current set IP addresses have to be correctly registered with the device regarding the IP address takeover attribute. * qeth: handle missing z/VM authorization of OSXUrsula Braun2010-06-232-4/+9
| | | | | | | | | | For z/VM guest operating systems, OSX CHPIDs can only be used, if LPAR and z/VM userID are explicitly authorized through the Service Element. Issue a message if this SE-authorization is missing. Signed-off-by: Ursula Braun <ursula.braun@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Frank Blaschka <frank.blaschka@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * qeth: specify correct function level for OSN devicesUrsula Braun2010-06-231-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | OSN devices use the same function level as OSD devices. This patch adds OSN-devices to the initialization function for func_level. * qeth: fix page breaks in hw headersFrank Blaschka2010-06-234-73/+65
| | | | | | | | | | | Turning on memory debugging showed there could be page breaks in hardware headers. OSA does not allow this so we had to add code to bounce the header in case there is a page break. This patch also fixes a problem in case the skb->data part of a fragmented skb spreads multiple pages. Signed-off-by: Frank Blaschka <frank.blaschka@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * qeth: fix use after free for qeths debug areaCarsten Otte2010-06-231-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | The function qeth_free_buffer_pool is called _after_ the per-card debug area has been released. This debug message is not all that usefull anyway, and thus gets removed. * qeth: Fold qeth_qerr debug areaCarsten Otte2010-06-232-11/+4
| | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the qerr debug area. Most info that goes in here is logged to the card's local debug area already, those duplicates are removed. All other elements are moved to the card's local debug area. Signed-off-by: Carsten Otte <cotte@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Frank Blaschka <frank.blaschka@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * qeth: Fold qeth_misc debug areaCarsten Otte2010-06-232-4/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the misc debug area. Instead of logging the entire skb we just log a pointer to it into the card's local debug area in qeth_core_get_next_skb. Other then that, this debug area is not used anywhere. Signed-off-by: Carsten Otte <cotte@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Frank Blaschka <frank.blaschka@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * qeth: Fold qeth_sense debug areaCarsten Otte2010-06-232-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | This patch removes the sense debug area completely. Despite the name this debug area makes no sense at all because it's unused completely. Ouch.
