It contains generic video related files, directories for backlight, console, linux logo, lots of fbdev device drivers, fbdev framework files. Make some order into the chaos by creating drivers/video/fbdev directory, and move all fbdev related files there. No functionality is changed, although I guess it is possible that some subtle Makefile build order related issue could be created by this patch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add a mutex to avoid a circular locking problem between the mm layer semaphore and fbdev ioctl mutex through the fb_mmap() call. Also, add mutex to all places where smem_start and smem_len fields change so the mutex inside the fb_mmap() is actually used. Changing of these fields before calling the framebuffer_register() are not mutexed. This is 2.6.31 material. It removes one lockdep (fb_mmap() and register_framebuffer()) but there is still another one (fb_release() and register_framebuffer()). It also cleans up handling of the smem_start and smem_len fields used by mutexed section of the fb_mmap(). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of all drivers reading pci config space to get the revision ID, they can now use the pci_device->revision member. This exposes some issues where drivers where reading a word or a dword for the revision number, and adding useless error-handling around the read. Some drivers even just read it for no purpose of all. In devices where the revision ID is being copied over and used in what appears to be the equivalent of hotpath, I have left the copy code and the cached copy as not to influence the driver's performance. Compile tested with make all{yes,mod}config on x86_64 and i386. This patches removes the include and modifies all users to directly include screen_info.h. struct screen_info is mainly used to communicate with the console drivers in drivers/video/console. Note that this patch touches every arch and I have no way of testing it. If there is a mistake the worst thing that will happen is a compile error.
