* xfs: remove subdirectoriesChristoph Hellwig2011-08-121-124/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | Use the move from Linux 2.6 to Linux 3.x as an excuse to kill the annoying subdirectories in the XFS source code. Besides the large amount of file rename the only changes are to the Makefile, a few files including headers with the subdirectory prefix, and the binary sysctl compat code that includes a header under fs/xfs/ from kernel/. * xfs: replace KM_LARGE with explicit vmalloc useChristoph Hellwig2010-01-211-3/+18
| | | | | | | | | We use the KM_LARGE flag to make kmem_alloc and friends use vmalloc if necessary. As we only need this for a few boot/mount time allocations just switch to explicit vmalloc calls there. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Alex Elder <aelder@sgi.com>
* xfs: prevent deadlock in xfs_qm_shake()Felix Blyakher2009-06-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | It's possible to recurse into filesystem from the memory allocation, which deadlocks in xfs_qm_shake(). Add check for __GFP_FS, and bail out if it is not set. * [XFS] Remove unused arg from kmem_free()Denys Vlasenko2008-07-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | kmem_free() function takes (ptr, size) arguments but doesn't actually use second one. This patch removes size argument from all callsites. * SL*B: drop kmem cache argument from constructorAlexey Dobriyan2008-07-261-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Kmem cache passed to constructor is only needed for constructors that are themselves multiplexeres. Nobody uses this "feature", nor does anybody uses passed kmem cache in non-trivial way, so pass only pointer to object. Non-trivial places are: arch/powerpc/mm/init_64.c arch/powerpc/mm/hugetlbpage.c This is flag day, yes. * Slab API: remove useless ctor parameter and reorder parametersChristoph Lameter2007-10-171-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Slab constructors currently have a flags parameter that is never used. And the order of the arguments is opposite to other slab functions. The object pointer is placed before the kmem_cache pointer. Convert ctor(void *object, struct kmem_cache *s, unsigned long flags) to ctor(struct kmem_cache *s, void *object) throughout the kernel [akpm@linux-foundation.org: coupla fixes] Signed-off-by: Christoph Lameter <clameter@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

* mm: Remove slab destructors from kmem_cache_create().Paul Mundt2007-07-201-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Slab destructors were no longer supported after Christoph's c59def9f222d44bb7e2f0a559f2906191a0862d7 change. They've been BUGs for both slab and slub, and slob never supported them either. This rips out support for the dtor pointer from kmem_cache_create() completely and fixes up every single callsite in the kernel (there were about 224, not including the slab allocator definitions themselves, or the documentation references). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * Rougly half of callers already do it by not checking return value * Code in drivers/acpi/osl.c does the following to be sure: (void)kmem_cache_destroy(cache); * Those who check it printk something, however, slab_error already printed the name of failed cache. * XFS BUGs on failed kmem_cache_destroy which is not the decision low-level filesystem driver should make. * [PATCH] cpuset memory spread slab cache hooksPaul Jackson2006-03-241-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change the kmem_cache_create calls for certain slab caches to support cpuset memory spreading. See the previous patches, cpuset_mem_spread, for an explanation of cpuset memory spreading, and cpuset_mem_spread_slab_cache for the slab cache support for memory spreading. The slab caches marked for now are: dentry_cache, inode_cache, some xfs slab caches, and buffer_head. This list may change over time. In particular, other file system types that are used extensively on large NUMA systems may want to allow for spreading their directory and inode slab cache entries. * [PATCH] gfp_t: fs/*Al Viro2005-10-281-9/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - ->releasepage() annotated (s/int/gfp_t), instances updated - missing gfp_t in fs/* added - fixed misannotation from the original sweep caught by bitwise checks: XFS used __nocast both for gfp_t and for flags used by XFS allocator. The latter left with unsigned int __nocast; we might want to add a different type for those but for now let's leave them alone. That, BTW, is a case when __nocast use had been actively confusing - it had been used in the same code for two different and similar types, with no way to catch misuses. Switch of gfp_t to bitwise had caught that immediately... One tricky bit is left alone to be dealt with later - mapping->flags is a mix of gfp_t and error indications. Left alone for now. * [PATCH] gfp flags annotations - part 1Al Viro2005-10-081-7/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | - added typedef unsigned int __nocast gfp_t; - replaced __nocast uses for gfp flags with gfp_t - it gives exactly the same warnings as far as sparse is concerned, doesn't change generated code (from gcc point of view we replaced unsigned int with typedef) and documents what's going on far better. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
