tty_set_termios() is an internal helper intended for file scope use.
UART drivers which are capable of driving the RTS pin must
properly handle the tiocmset() method, regardless of termios settings.
A failure to do so is a UART driver bug and should be fixed there.
Do not use this interface to workaround UART driver bugs.

hw-assisted flow control support was added to the serial core
in v3.8 with commits,
dba05832cbe4f ("SERIAL: core: add hardware assisted h/w flow control support")
2cbacafd7af0f ("SERIAL: core: add hardware assisted s/w flow control support")
9aba8d5b01119 ("SERIAL: core: add throttle/unthrottle callbacks for hardware
assisted flow control")
Since then, additional requirements for serial core support have arisen.
Specifically,
1. Separate tx and rx flow control settings for UARTs which only support
tx flow control (ie., autoCTS).
2. Disable sw-assisted CTS flow control in autoCTS mode
3. Support for RTS flow control by serial core and userspace in autoRTS mode
Distinguish mode from capability; introduce UPSTAT_AUTORTS, UPSTAT_AUTOCTS
and UPSTAT_AUTOXOFF which, when set by the uart driver, enable serial core
support for hw-assisted rx, hw-assisted tx and hw-assisted in-band/IXOFF
rx flow control, respectively. [Note: hw-assisted in-band/IXON tx flow
control does not require serial core support/intervention and can be
enabled by the uart driver when required.]
These modes must be set/reset in the driver's set_termios() method, based
on termios settings, and thus can be safely queried in any context in which
one of the port lock, port mutex or termios rwsem are held. Set these modes
in the 2 in-tree drivers, omap-serial and 8250_omap, which currently
use UPF_HARD_FLOW/UPF_SOFT_FLOW support.
Retain UPF_HARD_FLOW and UPF_SOFT_FLOW as capabilities; re-define
UPF_HARD_FLOW as both UPF_AUTO_RTS and UPF_AUTO_CTS to allow for distinct
and separate rx and tx flow control capabilities.
Disable sw-assisted CTS flow control when UPSTAT_AUTOCTS is enabled.

When using no_console_suspend, the serial console may be powered off
anyway during system sleep. Upon resume, the port may be in its default
power-on state, but is expected to continue console i/o before the device
has received its pm callback. The resultant garbage i/o can cause all
kinds of havoc on the remote end.
Use the scratch register as a canary to discover if the console
has been powered-off. Write a non-zero value to the scratch register
at port suspend and reprogram the port before any console i/o if the
scratch register != canary before port resume.
This workaround is disabled for omap_8250 (which uses different divisor
programming).

BRKINT and ISIG requires input and output flush when a signal char
is received. However, the order of operations is significant since
parallel i/o may be ongoing.
Merge the signal handling for BRKINT with ISIG handling.
Process the signal first. This ensures any ongoing i/o is aborted;
without this, a waiting writer may continue writing after the flush
occurs and after the signal char has been echoed.
Write lock the termios_rwsem, which excludes parallel writers from
pushing new i/o until after the output buffers are flushed; claiming
the write lock is necessary anyway to exclude parallel readers while
the read buffer is flushed.
Subclass the termios_rwsem for ptys since the slave pty performing
the flush may appear to reorder the termios_rwsem->tty buffer lock
lock order; adding annotation clarifies that
slave tty_buffer lock-> slave termios_rwsem -> master tty_buffer lock
is a valid lock order.
Flush the echo buffer. In this context, the echo buffer is 'output'.
Otherwise, the output will appear discontinuous because the output buffer
was cleared which contains older output than the echo buffer.
Open-code the read buffer flush since the input worker does not need
kicking (this is the input worker).

The pty driver does not clear its write buffer when commanded.
This is to avoid an apparent deadlock between parallel flushes from
both pty ends; specifically when handling either BRK or INTR input.
However, parallel flushes from this source is not possible since
the pty master can never be set to BRKINT or ISIG. Parallel flushes
from other sources are possible but these do not threaten deadlocks.
Annotate the tty buffer mutex for lockdep to represent the nested
tty_buffer locking which occurs when the pty slave is processing input
(its buffer mutex held) and receives INTR or BRK and acquires the
linked tty buffer mutex via tty_buffer_flush().

Besides nested legacy_mutex locking which is required on pty pair
teardown, other nested pty operations require lock subclassing.
Move lock subclass definition to tty interface header, include/linux/tty.h,
and document its use.

If the serial console is an ACPI PNP device, the PNP bus always powers
down the device at system suspend, even though the no_console_suspend
command line parameter is specified (eg., when debugging suspend/resume).
Add PNP_CONSOLE capability, which when set, prevents calling both the
->disable() and ->suspend() PNP protocol methods if console suspend
is disabled.

These two copy to/from VGA memory, however on the Silicon
Motion SMI750 VGA card on a 64-bit system cause console corruption.
This is due to the hw being buggy and not handling a 64-bit transaction
correctly.
We could try and create a 32-bit version of these routines,
but I'm not sure the optimisation is worth much today.

The OMAP3 UART ignores MCR[1] (ie., UART_MCR_RTS) when in autoRTS
mode (UPF_HARD_FLOW + CRTSCTS). This makes it impossible for either
the serial core or userspace to manually flow control the sender.
Disable autoRTS mode when RTS is lowered and restore the previous
mode when RTS is raised.
Note that the OMAP3 UART provides no mechanism for switching from
autoRTS mode without corrupting incoming data; to access the
necessary register, the line control settings must be set to 8-e-2
and thus any data received during that time will be interpreted with
those settings. This corruption has been observed in practice.

The I2O layer deals with a technology that to say the least didn't catch on
in the market.
The only relevant products are some of the AMI MegaRAID - which supported I2O
and its native mode (The native mode is faster and runs on Linux), an
obscure crypto ethernet card that's now so many years out of date nobody
would use it, the old DPT controllers, which speak their own dialect and
have their own driver - and ermm.. thats about it.
We also know the code isn't in good shape as recently a patch was proposed
and queried as buggy, which in turn showed the existing code was broken
already by prior "clean up" and nobody had noticed that either.
It's coding style robot code nothing more. Like some forgotten corridor
cleaned relentlessly by a lost Roomba but where no user has trodden in years.
Move it to staging and then to /dev/null.
The headers remain as they are shared with dpt_i2o.

The pedometer needs to filter out false steps that might be generated by
tapping the foot, sitting, etc. To do that it computes the number of
steps that occur in a given time and decides the user is moving only
if this value is over a threshold. E.g.: the user starts moving only
if he takes 4 steps in 3 seconds. This filter is applied only when
the user starts moving.
A device that has such pedometer functionality is Freescale's MMA9553L:

To export this feature, this patch introduces IIO_CHAN_INFO_DEBOUNCE_COUNT
and IIO_CHAN_INFO_DEBOUNCE_TIME. For the pedometer, in_steps_debounce_count
will specify the number of steps that need to occur in
in_steps_debounce_time seconds so that the pedometer decides the user is
moving.

Sensorhub is MCU dedicated to collect data and manage several sensors.
Sensorhub is a spi device which provides a layer for IIO devices. It provides
some data parsing and common mechanism for sensorhub sensors.
Adds common sensorhub library for sensorhub driver and iio drivers
which uses sensorhub MCU to communicate with sensors.

By introducing IIO_EV_TYPE_CHANGE, IIO_EV_TYPE_INSTANCE becomes redundant.
The effect of IIO_EV_TYPE_INSTANCE can be obtained by using IIO_EV_TYPE_CHANGE
with IIO_EV_INFO_VALUE set to 1.
Remove all instances of IIO_EV_TYPE_INSTANCE and replace them with
IIO_EV_TYPE_CHANGE where needed.

There was a need for non triggered software buffer type. It can be used when
triggered model does not fit and INDIO_BUFFER_HARDWARE causes confusion because
the data stream can be obtained not directly form hardware backend.

* Semtech SX9500 proximity device driver.
* ak8975 gains support for ak09911 and ak09912 and drop the standalone driver
for the ak09911.
New functionality
* Dummy driver gains some virtual registers making it more flexible.
* IIO_ACTIVITY channel types, with modifiers running, walking etc. This is
to support on chip motion clasifiers. As such it is in the form of a
confidence percentage. The only devices so far only do binary decisions
but this gives us room when other devices give more nuanced clasification.
* IIO_EV_DIR_NONE type for events where there is no obvious direction.
First case is step detection.
* IIO_STEPS channel type for pedometers.
* ENABLE mask element used to control turning on counting types such as
the pedometer that need a 'start point'.
* INSTANCE event type to support things that happen once.

* Add a sanity check that a scan index for a channel is unique during
registration. There to help catch bugs as this should never happen
in a bug free driver.
Cleanups and fixlets
A rework of buffer registration from Lars - a precursor to some other
upcoming new stuff (a few patches from others rolled in here as well).
* Ensure all drivers register the same channels for the device and buffer.
* Move buffer registration into the core rather than using the old
two step approach. Now we have simple ways of using a unified set channels
for both without requiring channels be exposed by both interface, this
removes a fair bit of boilerplate.
* Stop sca3000 and ad5933 (both in staging) enabling buffer channels by
default. It has long be convention in IIO to startup with no channels
enabled and leave it up to userspace to say what goes in the buffer.
Getting rid of these allows us to drop export of iio_scan_mask_set.
* Drop get_bytes_per_datum from iio_buffer_access_funcs as not been used
for a while.
* Allocate standard buffer attributes in the core rather than in every
driver with a buffer.
* Make the length attribute read only when a driver is not able to set
the length.
* Drop the get_length callback for buffers as it is already available in
struct iio_buffer.
* Drop an unused arguement form iio_kfifo_allocate and add devm allocator
for it.
* some kconfig entries gain anotation with the resulting module name.
* Fix a resulting compile issue in dummy driver due to a stub taking
wrong parameters as a result of the above rework.
* Fix an off by 2 error in copying the core assigned buffer attributes.
Other cleanups,
* Trivial space before comma fixups.
* ak8975 fixlets - none critical. Rework to allow more device support.
* Drop unnecessary sizeof(u8) calls.

the meet all the 'interesting' documentation.
* A couple of cleanups for the staging ad5933 driver to avoid unnecessary
conversion to a processed temperature vlaue in kernel and remove
platform data form the state structure as not needed after probe.

We already do have the length field in the struct iio_buffer which is
expected to be in sync with the current size of the buffer. And currently
all implementations of the get_length callback either return this field or a
constant number.
This patch removes the get_length callback and replaces all occurrences in
the IIO core with directly accessing the length field of the buffer.

All buffers want at least the length and the enable attribute. Move the
creation of those attributes to the core instead of having to do this in
each individual buffer implementation. This allows us to get rid of some
boiler-plate code.

There haven't been any users of the get_bytes_per_datum() callback for a
while. The core assumes that the number of bytes per datum can be calculated
based on the enabled channels and the storage size of the channel and
iio_compute_scan_bytes() is used to compute this number. So remove the
callback.

Originally device and buffer registration were kept as separate operations
in IIO to allow to register two distinct sets of channels for buffered and
non-buffered operations. This has since already been further restricted and
the channel set registered for the buffer needs to be a subset of the
channel set registered for the device. Additionally the possibility to not
have a raw (or processed) attribute for a channel which was registered for
the device was added a while ago. This means it is possible to not register
any device level attributes for a channel even if it is registered for the
device. Also if a channel's scan_index is set to -1 and the channel is
registered for the buffer it is ignored.
So in summary it means it is possible to register the same channel array for
both the device and the buffer yet still end up with distinctive sets of
channels for both of them. This makes the argument for having to have to
manually register the channels for both the device and the buffer invalid.
Considering that the vast majority of all drivers want to register the same
set of channels for both the buffer and the device it makes sense to move
the buffer registration into the core to avoid some boiler-plate code in the
device driver setup path.

Individual drivers should not be messing with the scan mask that contains
the list of enabled channels. This is something that is supposed to be
managed by the core.
Now that the last few drivers that used it to configure a default scan mask
have been updated to not do this anymore we can unexport the function.
Note, this patch also requires moving a few functions around so they are all
declared before the first internal user.

Some devices need the height of the user to compute various
parameters. One of this devices is Freescale's MMA9553L
(http://www.freescale.com/files/sensors/doc/ref_manual/MMA9553LSWRM.pdf)
that needs the height of the user to compute the stride length which
is used further to determine distance, speed and activity type.

These changes are needed to support the functionality of a pedometer.
A pedometer has two basic functionalities: step counter and step detector.
The step counter needs to be enabled and then it will count the steps
in its hardware register. Whenever the application needs to check
the step count, it will read the step counter register. To support the
step counter a new channel type STEPS is added. Since the pedometer needs
to be enabled first so that the hardware can count and store the steps,
we need a specific ENABLE channel info mask.
The step detector will generate an interrupt each time a step is detected.
To support this functionality we add a new event type INSTANCE.

For some events (e.g.: step detector) a direction does not make sense.
Add IIO_EV_DIR_NONE to be used with such events and generate sysfs event
attributes that do not contain direction.

This channel will be used for exposing information about
activity composite sensors. Activities supported so far:
* running
* jogging
* walking
* still
THRESHOLD event is used to signal a change in the activity
state.
We associate a confidence interval for each activity expressed
as a percentage from 0 to 100.
* 0, means the sensor IS NOT reporting that activity.
* 100, means the sensor IS reporting that activity.
Users of this interface have two possible means to gather
information about the ongoing activities.
1. Event based, via event file descriptor
* sensor may report an event when ENTERING an activity or LEAVING
an activity based on a threshold value.
* drivers will wake up applications waiting data on the event fd
2. Polling, by reading the sysfs associated attribute files:
* /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/in_activity_running_input
expressed as percentage confidence value from 0 to 100.
This will offer an interface for Android significant motion
composite sensor defined here:

The big issue here is:
of_property_read_u32(np, "flow_cntrl", (u32 *)&dt_pdata->flow_cntrl);
"->flow_cntrl" is a char so when we write a 32 bit number to it then it
corrupts past the end of the char. It's probably hard to notice because
the struct has padding so the code works on little endian systems. But
on a big endian system the code would fail and on a 64 bit, big endian
systems then "nshutdown_gpio" and "baud_rate" would be buggy as well.

sc_lock spinlock in struct vmbus_channel is being used to not only protect the
sc_list field, e.g. vmbus_open() function uses it to implement test-and-set
access to the state field. Rename it to the more generic 'lock' and add the
description.

Currently, the API for sending a multi-page buffer over VMBUS is limited to
a maximum pfn array of MAX_MULTIPAGE_BUFFER_COUNT. This limitation is
not imposed by the host and unnecessarily limits the maximum payload
that can be sent. Implement an API that does not have this restriction.

Add security hooks to the binder and implement the hooks for SELinux.
The security hooks enable security modules such as SELinux to implement
controls over binder IPC. The security hooks include support for
controlling what process can become the binder context manager
(binder_set_context_mgr), controlling the ability of a process
to invoke a binder transaction/IPC to another process (binder_transaction),
controlling the ability of a process to transfer a binder reference to
another process (binder_transfer_binder), and controlling the ability
of a process to transfer an open file to another process (binder_transfer_file).
These hooks have been included in the Android kernel trees since Android 4.3.
(Updated to reflect upstream relocation and changes to the binder driver,
changes to the LSM audit data structures, coding style cleanups, and
to add inline documentation for the hooks).
