Two (or more) concurrent calls of shrink_dcache_parent() on the same dentry may
cause shrink_dcache_parent() to loop forever.
Here's what appears to happen:
1 - CPU0: select_parent(P) finds C and puts it on dispose list, returns 1
2 - CPU1: select_parent(P) locks P->d_lock
3 - CPU0: shrink_dentry_list() locks C->d_lock
dentry_kill(C) tries to lock P->d_lock but fails, unlocks C->d_lock
4 - CPU1: select_parent(P) locks C->d_lock,
moves C from dispose list being processed on CPU0 to the new
dispose list, returns 1
5 - CPU0: shrink_dentry_list() finds dispose list empty, returns
6 - Goto 2 with CPU0 and CPU1 switched
Basically select_parent() steals the dentry from shrink_dentry_list() and thinks
it found a new one, causing shrink_dentry_list() to think it's making progress
and loop over and over.
One way to trigger this is to make udev calls stat() on the sysfs file while it
is going away.
Having a file in /lib/udev/rules.d/ with only this one rule seems to the trick:

One fix would be to check all callers and prevent concurrent calls to
shrink_dcache_parent(). But I think a better solution is to stop the
stealing behavior.
This patch adds a new dentry flag that is set when the dentry is added to the
dispose list. The flag is cleared in dentry_lru_del() in case the dentry gets a
new reference just before being pruned.
If the dentry has this flag, select_parent() will skip it and let
shrink_dentry_list() retry pruning it. With select_parent() skipping those
dentries there will not be the appearance of progress (new dentries found) when
there is none, hence shrink_dcache_parent() will not loop forever.
Set the flag is also set in prune_dcache_sb() for consistency as suggested by
Linus.

dev_uc_sync() and dev_mc_sync() are acquiring netif_addr_lock for
destination device of synchronization. Since netif_addr_lock is
already held at the time for source device, this triggers lockdep
deadlock warning.
There's no way this deadlock can happen so use spin_lock_nested() to
silence the warning.

Sockets can also be created through sock_clone. Because it copies
all data in the sock structure, it also copies the memcg-related pointer,
and all should be fine. However, since we now use reference counts in
socket creation, we are left with some sockets that have no reference
counts. It matters when we destroy them, since it leads to a mismatch.

Use an getter function in plat-orion/addr-map.c to get the address map
structure, rather than pass it to drivers in the platform_data
structures. When the drivers are built for none orion platforms, a
dummy function is provided instead which returns NULL.

The transfer direction for a channel can be inferred from the transfer
request and the need for specifying transfer direction in platfrom data
can be eliminated. So the structure definition 'struct dma_pl330_peri'
is no longer required.
The channel's private data is set to point to a channel id specified in
the platform data (instead of an instance of type 'struct dma_pl330_peri').
The filter function is correspondingly modified to match the channel id.
With the 'struct dma_pl330_peri' removed from platform data, the dma
controller transfer capabilities cannot be inferred any more. Hence,
the dma controller capabilities is specified using platform data.

The dma channel selection filter function is moved from plat-samsung
into the pl330 driver. In additon to that, a check is added in the
filter function to ensure that the channel on which the filter has
been invoked is pl330 channel instance (and avoid any incorrect
access of chan->private in a system with multiple types of DMA
drivers).

Cleanup patches for various ARM platforms and some of their associated
drivers, the bulk of these is for mach-91.
Arnd ended up pulling in the restart branch from Russell in order to
fix up some simple but annoying merge conflicts.

Move vpif related definitions for capture and display drivers
from dm646x platform header file to vpif_types.h inside
the driver as these definitions are related to driver code
rather than the platform or board.
This enables reusing this IP across platforms.

Both at91 and avr32 defines its own platform data structure for
the macb driver and both share common structures though at91
includes a currently unused phy_irq_pin. Create a common
macb_platform_data for macb that both at91 and avr32 can use. In
future we can use this to support other architectures that use the
same IP block with the macb driver.
v2: rename eth_platform_data to macb_platform_data and allow at91_ether
to share the platform data with macb.

Including trace/events/*.h TRACE_EVENT() macro headers in other headers
can cause strange side effects if another trace/event/*.h header
includes that header. Having trace/events/kmem.h inside slab_def.h
caused a compile error in sparc64 when changes were done to some header
files. Moving the kmem.h trace header out of slab.h and into slab.c
fixes the problem.
Note, both slub.c and slob.c already include the trace/events/kmem.h
file. Only slab.c had it missing.

We simply say that regular this_cpu use must be safe regardless of
preemption and interrupt state. That has no material change for x86
and s390 implementations of this_cpu operations. However, arches that
do not provide their own implementation for this_cpu operations will
now get code generated that disables interrupts instead of preemption.

cancel_attach() and attach()
Currently, there's no way to pass multiple tasks to cgroup_subsys
methods necessitating the need for separate per-process and per-task
methods. This patch introduces cgroup_taskset which can be used to
pass multiple tasks and their associated cgroups to cgroup_subsys
methods.
Three methods - can_attach(), cancel_attach() and attach() - are
converted to use cgroup_taskset. This unifies passed parameters so
that all methods have access to all information. Conversions in this
patchset are identical and don't introduce any behavior change.

threadgroup_lock() protected only protected against new addition to
the threadgroup, which was inherently somewhat incomplete and
problematic for its only user cgroup. On-going migration could race
against exec and exit leading to interesting problems - the symmetry
between various attach methods, task exiting during method execution,
->exit() racing against attach methods, migrating task switching basic
properties during exec and so on.
This patch extends threadgroup_lock() such that it protects against
all three threadgroup altering operations - fork, exit and exec. For
exit, threadgroup_change_begin/end() calls are added to exit_signals
around assertion of PF_EXITING. For exec, threadgroup_[un]lock() are
updated to also grab and release cred_guard_mutex.
With this change, threadgroup_lock() guarantees that the target
threadgroup will remain stable - no new task will be added, no new
PF_EXITING will be set and exec won't happen.
The next patch will update cgroup so that it can take full advantage
of this change.

j_barrier mutex is used for serializing different journal lock operations. The
problem with it is that e.g. FIFREEZE ioctl results in process leaving kernel
with j_barrier mutex held which makes lockdep freak out. Also hibernation code
wants to freeze filesystem but it cannot do so because it then cannot hibernate
the system because of mutex being locked.
So we remove j_barrier mutex and use direct wait on j_barrier_count instead.
Since locking journal is a rare operation we don't have to care about fairness
or such things.

Currently, we clear revoked flag only when a block is reused. However,
this can tigger a false journal error. Consider a situation when a block
is used as a meta block and is deleted(revoked) in ordered mode, then the
block is allocated as a data block to a file. At this moment, user changes
the file's journal mode from ordered to journaled and truncates the file.
The block will be considered re-revoked by journal because it has revoked
flag still pending from the last transaction and an assertion triggers.
We fix the problem by keeping the revoked status more uptodate - we clear
revoked flag when switching revoke tables to reflect there is no revoked
buffers in current transaction any more.
