* hsr: switch ->dellink() to ->ndo_uninit()Cong Wang2019-07-111-7/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Switching from ->priv_destructor to dellink() has an unexpected consequence: existing RCU readers, that is, hsr_port_get_hsr() callers, may still be able to read the port list. Instead of checking the return value of each hsr_port_get_hsr(), we can just move it to ->ndo_uninit() which is called after device unregister and synchronize_net(), and we still have RTNL lock there. Fixes: b9a1e627405d ("hsr: implement dellink to clean up resources") Fixes: edf070a0fb45 ("hsr: fix a NULL pointer deref in hsr_dev_xmit()") Reported-by: syzbot+097ef84cdc95843fbaa8@syzkaller.appspotmail.com Cc: Arvid Brodin <arvid.brodin@alten.se> Signed-off-by: Cong Wang <xiyou.wangcong@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * hsr: implement dellink to clean up resourcesCong Wang2019-07-051-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | hsr_link_ops implements ->newlink() but not ->dellink(), which leads that resources not released after removing the device, particularly the entries in self_node_db and node_db. So add ->dellink() implementation to replace the priv_destructor. This also makes the code slightly easier to understand. * genetlink: optionally validate strictly/dumpsJohannes Berg2019-04-271-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add options to strictly validate messages and dump messages, sometimes perhaps validating dump messages non-strictly may be required, so add an option for that as well. Since none of this can really be applied to existing commands, set the options everwhere using the following spatch: @@ identifier ops; expression X; @@ struct genl_ops ops[] = { ..., { .cmd = X, + .validate = GENL_DONT_VALIDATE_STRICT | GENL_DONT_VALIDATE_DUMP, ... }, ... }; For new commands one should just not copy the .validate 'opt-out' flags and thus get strict validation. * genetlink: make policy common to familyJohannes Berg2019-03-221-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since maxattr is common, the policy can't really differ sanely, so make it common as well. The only user that did in fact manage to make a non-common policy is taskstats, which has to be really careful about it (since it's still using a common maxattr!). This is no longer supported, but we can fake it using pre_doit. This reduces the size of e.g. nl80211.o (which has lots of commands): text data bss dec hex filename 398745 14323 2240 415308 6564c net/wireless/nl80211.o (before) 397913 14331 2240 414484 65314 net/wireless/nl80211.o (after) -------------------------------- -832 +8 0 -824 Which is obviously just 8 bytes for each command, and an added 8 bytes for the new policy pointer. I'm not sure why the ops list is counted as .text though. Most of the code transformations were done using the following spatch: @ops@ identifier OPS; expression POLICY; @@ struct genl_ops OPS[] = { ..., { - .policy = POLICY, }, ... }; @@ identifier ops.OPS; expression ops.POLICY; identifier fam; expression M; @@ struct genl_family fam = { .ops = OPS, .maxattr = M, + .policy = POLICY, ... }; This also gets rid of devlink_nl_cmd_region_read_dumpit() accessing the cb->data as ops, which we want to change in a later genl patch. * netlink: extended ACK reportingJohannes Berg2017-04-131-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add the base infrastructure and UAPI for netlink extended ACK reporting. All "manual" calls to netlink_ack() pass NULL for now and thus don't get extended ACK reporting. * genetlink: mark families as __ro_after_initJohannes Berg2016-10-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now genl_register_family() is the only thing (other than the users themselves, perhaps, but I didn't find any doing that) writing to the family struct. In all families that I found, genl_register_family() is only called from __init functions (some indirectly, in which case I've add __init annotations to clarifly things), so all can actually be marked __ro_after_init. This protects the data structure from accidental corruption. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* genetlink: statically initialize familiesJohannes Berg2016-10-271-8/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of providing macros/inline functions to initialize the families, make all users initialize them statically and get rid of the macros. This reduces the kernel code size by about 1.6k on x86-64 (with allyesconfig). Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* genetlink: no longer support using static family IDsJohannes Berg2016-10-271-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Static family IDs have never really been used, the only use case was the workaround I introduced for those users that assumed their family ID was also their multicast group ID. Additionally, because static family IDs would never be reserved by the generic netlink code, using a relatively low ID would only work for built-in families that can be registered immediately after generic netlink is started, which is basically only the control family (apart from the workaround code, which I also had to add code for so it would reserve those IDs) Thus, anything other than GENL_ID_GENERATE is flawed and luckily not used except in the cases I mentioned. Move those workarounds into a few lines of code, and then get rid of GENL_ID_GENERATE entirely, making it more robust. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. | | | | | | | | | | | If none of the slave interfaces are specified, struct nlattr *data[] may be NULL. Make sure to check for that. * net/hsr: Better frame dispatchArvid Brodin2014-07-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the separate paths for frames coming from the outside, and frames sent from the HSR device, and instead makes all frames go through hsr_forward_skb() in hsr_forward.c. This greatly improves code readability and also opens up the possibility for future support of the HSR Interlink device that is the basis for HSR RedBoxes and HSR QuadBoxes, as well as VLAN compatibility. Other improvements: * A reduction in the number of times an skb is copied on machines without HAVE_EFFICIENT_UNALIGNED_ACCESS, which improves throughput somewhat. * Headers are now created using the standard eth_header(), and using the standard hard_header_len. * Each HSR slave now gets its own private skb, so slave-specific fields can be correctly set. * genetlink: make multicast groups const, prevent abuseJohannes Berg2013-11-191-13/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Register generic netlink multicast groups as an array with the family and give them contiguous group IDs. Then instead of passing the global group ID to the various functions that send messages, pass the ID relative to the family - for most families that's just 0 because the only have one group. This avoids the list_head and ID in each group, adding a new field for the mcast group ID offset to the family. At the same time, this allows us to prevent abusing groups again like the quota and dropmon code did, since we can now check that a family only uses a group it owns. * genetlink: pass family to functions using groupsJohannes Berg2013-11-191-2/+4

* hsr: don't call genl_unregister_mc_group()Johannes Berg2013-11-191-2/+0

* genetlink: only pass array to genl_register_family_with_ops()Johannes Berg2013-11-191-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | As suggested by David Miller, make genl_register_family_with_ops() a macro and pass only the array, evaluating ARRAY_SIZE() in the macro, this is a little safer. The openvswitch has some indirection, assing ops/n_ops directly in that code. This might ultimately just assign the pointers in the family initializations, saving the struct genl_family_and_ops and code (once mcast groups are handled differently.) * genetlink: make all genl_ops users constJohannes Berg2013-11-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that genl_ops are no longer modified in place when registering, they can be made const. This patch was done mostly with spatch: @@ identifier ops; @@ +const struct genl_ops ops[] = { ... }; (except the struct thing in net/openvswitch/datapath.c) Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * hsr: use genl_register_family_with_ops()Johannes Berg2013-11-141-29/+17

* net/hsr: Add support for the High-availability Seamless Redundancy protocol ↵Arvid Brodin2013-11-031-0/+457
(HSRv0) High-availability Seamless Redundancy ("HSR") provides instant failover redundancy for Ethernet networks. It requires a special network topology where all nodes are connected in a ring (each node having two physical network interfaces). It is suited for applications that demand high availability and very short reaction time. HSR acts on the Ethernet layer, using a registered Ethernet protocol type to send special HSR frames in both directions over the ring. The driver creates virtual network interfaces that can be used just like any ordinary Linux network interface, for IP/TCP/UDP traffic etc. All nodes in the network ring must be HSR capable. This code is a "best effort" to comply with the HSR standard as described in IEC 62439-3:2010 (HSRv0). Signed-off-by: Arvid Brodin <arvid.brodin@xdin.com> Signed-off-by: David S.
