* ipv6: make ipv6_renew_options() interrupt/kernel safePaul Moore2018-07-051-81/+30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | At present the ipv6_renew_options_kern() function ends up calling into access_ok() which is problematic if done from inside an interrupt as access_ok() calls WARN_ON_IN_IRQ() on some (all?) architectures (x86-64 is affected). Example warning/backtrace is shown below: WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 3144 at lib/usercopy.c:11 _copy_from_user+0x85/0x90 ... While not present in the backtrace, ipv6_renew_option() ends up calling access_ok() via the following chain: access_ok() _copy_from_user() copy_from_user() ipv6_renew_option() The fix presented in this patch is to perform the userspace copy earlier in the call chain such that it is only called when the option data is actually coming from userspace; that place is do_ipv6_setsockopt(). Not only does this solve the problem seen in the backtrace above, it also allows us to simplify the code quite a bit by removing ipv6_renew_options_kern() completely. We also take this opportunity to cleanup ipv6_renew_options()/ipv6_renew_option() a small amount as well. This patch is heavily based on a rough patch by Al Viro. I've taken his original patch, converted a kmemdup() call in do_ipv6_setsockopt() to a memdup_user() call, made better use of the e_inval jump target in the same function, and cleaned up the use ipv6_renew_option() by ipv6_renew_options(). * ipv6: sr: fix TLVs not being copied using setsockoptMathieu Xhonneux2018-01-101-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Function ipv6_push_rthdr4 allows to add an IPv6 Segment Routing Header to a socket through setsockopt, but the current implementation doesn't copy possible TLVs at the end of the SRH received from userspace. Therefore, the execution of the following branch if (sr_has_hmac(sr_phdr)) { ... } will never complete since the len and type fields of a possible HMAC TLV are not copied, hence seg6_get_tlv_hmac will return an error, and the HMAC will not be computed. This commit adds a memcpy in case TLVs have been appended to the SRH. * ipv6: Implement limits on Hop-by-Hop and Destination optionsTom Herbert2017-11-031-12/+55
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | RFC 8200 (IPv6) defines Hop-by-Hop options and Destination options extension headers. Both of these carry a list of TLVs which is only limited by the maximum length of the extension header (2048 bytes). By the spec a host must process all the TLVs in these options, however these could be used as a fairly obvious denial of service attack. I think this could in fact be a significant DOS vector on the Internet, one mitigating factor might be that many FWs drop all packets with EH (and obviously this is only IPv6) so an Internet wide attack might not be so effective (yet!). By my calculation, the worse case packet with TLVs in a standard 1500 byte MTU packet that would be processed by the stack contains 1282 invidual TLVs (including pad TLVS) or 724 two byte TLVs. I wrote a quick test program that floods a whole bunch of these packets to a host and sure enough there is substantial time spent in ip6_parse_tlv. These packets contain nothing but unknown TLVS (that are ignored), TLV padding, and bogus UDP header with zero payload length. 25.38% [kernel] [k] __fib6_clean_all 21.63% [kernel] [k] ip6_parse_tlv 4.21% [kernel] [k] __local_bh_enable_ip 2.18% [kernel] [k] ip6_pol_route.isra.39 1.98% [kernel] [k] fib6_walk_continue 1.88% [kernel] [k] _raw_write_lock_bh 1.65% [kernel] [k] dst_release This patch adds configurable limits to Destination and Hop-by-Hop options. There are three limits that may be set: - Limit the number of options in a Hop-by-Hop or Destination options extension header. - Limit the byte length of a Hop-by-Hop or Destination options extension header. - Disallow unrecognized options in a Hop-by-Hop or Destination options extension header. The limits are set in corresponding sysctls: ipv6.sysctl.max_dst_opts_cnt ipv6.sysctl.max_hbh_opts_cnt ipv6.sysctl.max_dst_opts_len ipv6.sysctl.max_hbh_opts_len If a max_*_opts_cnt is less than zero then unknown TLVs are disallowed. The number of known TLVs that are allowed is the absolute value of this number. If a limit is exceeded when processing an extension header the packet is dropped. Default values are set to 8 for options counts, and set to INT_MAX for maximum length. Note the choice to limit options to 8 is an arbitrary guess (roughly based on the fact that the stack supports three HBH options and just one destination option). These limits have being proposed in draft-ietf-6man-rfc6434-bis. Tested (by Martin Lau) I tested out 1 thread (i.e. one raw_udp process). I changed the net.ipv6.max_dst_(opts|hbh)_number between 8 to 2048. With sysctls setting to 2048, the softirq% is packed to 100%. With 8, the softirq% is almost unnoticable from mpstat. v2; - Code and documention cleanup. - Change references of RFC2460 to be RFC8200. - Add reference to RFC6434-bis where the limits will be in standard. * udp6: fix jumbogram receptionPaolo Abeni2017-07-311-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since commit 67a51780aebb ("ipv6: udp: leverage scratch area helpers") udp6_recvmsg() read the skb len from the scratch area, to avoid a cache miss. But the UDP6 rx path support RFC 2675 UDPv6 jumbograms, and their length exceeds the 16 bits available in the scratch area. As a side effect the length returned by recvmsg() is: <ingress datagram len> % (1<<16) This commit addresses the issue allocating one more bit in the IP6CB flags field and setting it for incoming jumbograms. Such field is still in the first cacheline, so at recvmsg() time we can check it and fallback to access skb->len if required, without a measurable overhead. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *, and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not. Make these functions return void * and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the following spatch: @@ expression SKB, LEN; typedef u8; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; @@ - *(fn(SKB, LEN)) + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN) @@ expression E, SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; type T; @@ - E = ((T *)(fn(SKB, LEN))) + E = fn(SKB, LEN) @@ expression SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; @@ - fn(SKB, LEN)[0] + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN) Note that the last part there converts from push(...)[0] to the more idiomatic *(u8 *)push(...). * ipv6: fix source routingSabrina Dubroca2017-04-251-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit a149e7c7ce81 ("ipv6: sr: add support for SRH injection through setsockopt") introduced handling of IPV6_SRCRT_TYPE_4, but at the same time restricted it to only IPV6_SRCRT_TYPE_0 and IPV6_SRCRT_TYPE_4. Previously, ipv6_push_exthdr() and fl6_update_dst() would also handle other values (ie STRICT and TYPE_2). Restore previous source routing behavior, by handling IPV6_SRCRT_STRICT and IPV6_SRCRT_TYPE_2 the same way as IPV6_SRCRT_TYPE_0 in ipv6_push_exthdr() and fl6_update_dst(). * ipv6: sr: remove cleanup flag and fix HMAC computationDavid Lebrun2017-02-031-28/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In the latest version of the IPv6 Segment Routing IETF draft [1] the cleanup flag is removed and the flags field length is shrunk from 16 bits to 8 bits. As a consequence, the input of the HMAC computation is modified in a non-backward compatible way by covering the whole octet of flags instead of only the cleanup bit. As such, if an implementation compatible with the latest draft computes the HMAC of an SRH who has other flags set to 1, then the HMAC result would differ from the current implementation. This patch carries those modifications to prevent conflict with other implementations of IPv6 SR. * ktime: Get rid of the unionThomas Gleixner2016-12-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ktime is a union because the initial implementation stored the time in scalar nanoseconds on 64 bit machine and in a endianess optimized timespec variant for 32bit machines. The Y2038 cleanup removed the timespec variant and switched everything to scalar nanoseconds. The union remained, but become completely pointless. Get rid of the union and just keep ktime_t as simple typedef of type s64. The conversion was done with coccinelle and some manual mopping up. * ipv6: implement dataplane support for rthdr type 4 (Segment Routing Header)David Lebrun2016-11-091-0/+175
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Implement minimal support for processing of SR-enabled packets as described in https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-6man-segment-routing-header-02. This patch implements the following operations: - Intermediate segment endpoint: incrementation of active segment and rerouting. - Egress for SR-encapsulated packets: decapsulation of outer IPv6 header + SRH and routing of inner packet. - Cleanup flag support for SR-inlined packets: removal of SRH if we are the penultimate segment endpoint. A per-interface sysctl seg6_enabled is provided, to accept/deny SR-enabled packets. Default is deny. This patch does not provide support for HMAC-signed packets. Even so, these messages are now _not_ emitted by default. This also eliminates the use of the net_msg_warn sysctl "/proc/sys/net/core/warnings". | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The following tightens the padding check from commit c1412fce7eccae62b4de22494f6ab3ff8a90c0c6 : * Take into account combinations of consecutive Pad1 and PadN. * Catch the corner case of when only padding is present in the header, when the extention header length is 0 (i.e., 8 bytes). In this case, the header would have exactly 6 bytes of padding: +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ : Next Header : Hdr Ext Len=0 : : +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + : Padding (Pad1 or PadN) : +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Signed-off-by: Eldad Zack <eldad@fogrefinery.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * net/ipv6/exthdrs.c: Strict PadN option checkingEldad Zack2012-04-121-0/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Added strict checking of PadN, as PadN can be used to increase header size and thus push the protocol header into the 2nd fragment. PadN is used to align the options within the Hop-by-Hop or Destination Options header to 64-bit boundaries. The maximum valid size is thus 7 bytes. RFC 4942 recommends to actively check the "payload" itself and ensure that it contains only zeroes. See also RFC 4942 section 2.1.9.5. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are more than a dozen occurrences of following code in the IPv6 stack: if (opt && opt->srcrt) { struct rt0_hdr *rt0 = (struct rt0_hdr *) opt->srcrt; ipv6_addr_copy(&final, &fl.fl6_dst); ipv6_addr_copy(&fl.fl6_dst, rt0->addr); final_p = &final; } Replace those with a helper. * include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo2010-03-301-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch.
