This patch uses dynamic-list-file to export dynamic symbols which will be used in plugins to perf executable. The problem is covered up if feature-libpython is enabled, because PYTHON_EMBED_LDOPTS contains '-Xlinker --export-dynamic' which adds all symbols to the dynamic symbol table. So we should reproduce the problem by setting NO_LIBPYTHON=1. * perf tools: Fix traceevent plugin path definitionsJosh Boyer2014-01-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The plugindir_SQ definition contains $(prefix) which is not needed as the $(libdir) definition already contains prefix in it. This leads to the path including an extra prefix in it, e.g. /usr/usr/lib64. The -DPLUGIN_DIR defintion includes DESTDIR. This is incorrect, as it sets the plugin search path to include the value of DESTDIR. DESTDIR is a mechanism to install in a non-standard location such as a chroot or an RPM build root. In the RPM case, this leads to the search path being incorrect after the resulting RPM is installed (or in some cases an RPM build failure). Remove both of these unnecessary inclusions. Copy over the files from trace-cmd to the Linux tools directory such that applications like perf and latencytrace can use the more advanced parsing code. Because some of the file names of perf conflict with trace-cmd file names, the trace-cmd files have been renamed as follows: parse-events.c ==> event-parse.c parse-events.h ==> event-parse.h utils.h ==> event-utils.h The files have been updated to handle the changes to the header files but other than that, they are identical to what was in the trace-cmd repository. The history of these files, including authorship is available at the git repo: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rostedt/trace-cmd.git The Makefile was also copied over, but most of it was removed to focus on the parse-events code first. The parts of the Makefile for the plugins have also been removed, but will be added back when the plugin code is copied over as well. But that may be in its own separate directory.
