* ArmVirtPkg: store separate console and debug PL011 addresses in GUID HOBLaszlo Ersek2023-10-261-2/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | PlatformPeiLib produces the EarlyPL011BaseAddress GUID HOB, and FdtPL011SerialPortLib consumes it. Extend the HOB such that it also carry the base address of the PL011 UART meant for DebugLib usage -- namely the first UART that is *not* designated by the /chosen node's "stdout-path" property. Implement this policy in PlatformPeiLib. Note that as far as the SerialPortLib+console UART is concerned, this patch makes no difference. That selection remains consistent with the pre-patch state, and therefore consistent with EarlyFdtPL011SerialPortLib. * ArmVirtPkg: introduce FdtSerialPortAddressLibLaszlo Ersek2023-10-261-0/+83
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce a new library class + instance for: - collecting serial port base addresses from the device tree, - collecting the /chosen stdout-path serial port base address from the device tree. The logic is loosely based on the following functions: - SerialPortGetBaseAddress() [ArmVirtPkg/Library/FdtPL011SerialPortLib/EarlyFdtPL011SerialPortLib.c] - PlatformPeim() [ArmVirtPkg/Library/PlatformPeiLib/PlatformPeiLib.c] - GetSerialConsolePortAddress() [ArmVirtPkg/Library/Fdt16550SerialPortHookLib/EarlyFdt16550SerialPortHookLib.c] which are going to be converted to clients of the new library later. Copyright notices from those other files are preserved. The new library fixes the following warts, found by reading the existent code: - Neither of the three functions check whether the "reg" property exists. (This may be implicitly checked when they compare the property size to 16.) - GetSerialConsolePortAddress() uses ScanMem8() for locating a colon (":") node path separator in "stdout-path", when AsciiStrStr() could work just as fine. While ScanMem8() is likely faster, "stdout-path" is presumably very short, and ScanMem8() introduces an extra lib class dependency (namely BaseMemoryLib). - If ScanMem8() fails to locate a colon in "stdout-path", then GetSerialConsolePortAddress() re-measures the length of the whole "stdout-path" property. This is conceptually (if not performance-wise) disturbing, because we know the whole size of the "stdout-path" property from the property lookup just before, so we only need to subtract the NUL-terminator for learning the length. - GetSerialConsolePortAddress() does not check if the first (or only) node path inside the "stdout-path" property is empty. (Not a big deal, the subsequent alias resolution should simply fail.) - GetSerialConsolePortAddress() does not verify if the node path retrieved (and potentially alias-resolved) from "stdout-path" can be located in the device tree; it assumes it. - Code is duplicated (of course) between SerialPortGetBaseAddress() and PlatformPeim(), but more surprisingly, all three functions embed the same code for verifying the "status" property of the serial port node, and for checking and reading its "reg" property. * ArmVirtPkg: convert LFs to CRLFLaszlo Ersek2020-03-041-22/+22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We're going to switch the internal line terminators globally to LF at some point, but until then, let's use CRLF consistently. Convert source files with LFs in them to CRLF, using "unix2dos". "git show -b" prints no code changes for this patch. (I collected all the file name suffixes in this package, with: $ git ls-files -- $PACKAGE | rev | cut -f 1 -d . | sort -u | rev I eliminated those suffixes that didn't stand for text files, then blanket-converted the rest with unix2dos. Finally, picked up the actual changes with git-add.) The CRLF conversion is motivated by "PatchCheck.py". * ArmVirtPkg/PrePiUniCoreRelocatable CLANG38: work around build issuesArd Biesheuvel2018-12-111-0/+28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The self-relocating PrePi module that is used by the ArmVirtQemuKernel and ArmVirtXen targets runs the linker in PIE mode so that it emits dynamic relocations into the final image in a way that permits the module to relocate itself into place before calling into the C code. When building these targets using the CLANG38 toolchain, we switch from the BFD to the GOLD linker, which behaves a bit differently when building PIE executables, and insists on emitting GOT indirected symbol references throughout, which means a) that we end up with absolute addresses (which need to be fixed up at load time) for no good reason, and b) we have to add support for handling GOT entries to GenFw if we want to convert them into PE/COFF. So instead, let's emit a shared library. Since the ELF image only serves as the input to GenFw, this does not lead to any loss of functionality, although it does require the -Bsymbolic linker option to be added to ensure that no symbol based dynamic relocations are emitted (which would, e.g., permit lazy binding for shared libraries). So for all other toolchains, the linker option changes are a no-op. Then, we have to convince CLANG38/GOLD that there is no need to refer to symbols via a GOT entry. This is done by forcing hidden visibility for all symbols in all components that make up the PrePi SEC module: this informs the linker that a symbol is never exported or preempted, making it safe to refer to it directly from anywhere in the code, rather than indirectly via a GOT entry. * ArmVirtPkg: introduce ArmVirtMemInfoLib library classArd Biesheuvel2017-11-231-0/+41
| | | | | | | | | | | | | As part of the effort to get rid of ArmPlatformLib (which incorporates far too many duties in a single library), introduce ArmVirtMemInfoLib which will be invoked by our ArmVirtMemoryInitPeiLib implementation to get a description of the virtual address space. This will allow us to remove this functionality from ArmPlatformLib later, or, in the case of ArmVirtXen and ArmVirtQemuKernel, drop ArmPlatformLib altogether. * ArmVirtPkg: remove ArmPlatformSysConfigLib dependencyArd Biesheuvel2017-11-161-33/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that the PL031 RTC driver library no longer depends on the ARM platform specific ArmPlatformSysConfigLib, we no longer need to implement ArmPlatform.h or have a resolution for that library. This allows us to get rid of a rather dodgy practice of including platform headers using compiler flags, which is a bad idea at various levels. * ArmVirtPkg/FdtClientDxe: report address and size cell count directlyArd Biesheuvel2016-09-151-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The FDT client protocol methods dealing with "reg" properties return the size of a "reg" element. Currently, we have hardcoded this as '8', since #address-cells == #size-cells == 2 in most cases. However, for different values, have a single 'reg' element size is not unambiguous, since - however unlikely - if #address-cells != #size-cells, we do not know which is which. So before adding more methods to the protocol, fix up this oversight.
