In addition are a couple of bug fixes and code cleanup to use struct_size(). In addition to the PE/COFF and IMA xattr signatures, the kexec kernel image may be signed with an appended signature, using the same scripts/sign-file tool that is used to sign kernel modules. Similarly, the initramfs may contain an appended signature. This contained a lot of refactoring of the existing appended signature verification code, so that IMA could retain the existing framework of calculating the file hash once, storing it in the IMA measurement list and extending the TPM, verifying the file's integrity based on a file hash or signature (eg. xattrs), and adding an audit record containing the file hash, all based on policy. (The IMA support for appended signatures patch set was posted and reviewed 11 times.) The support for appended signature paves the way for adding other signature verification methods, such as fs-verity, based on a single system-wide policy. The file hash used for verifying the signature and the signature, itself, can be included in the IMA measurement list" * 'next-integrity' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/zohar/linux-integrity: ima: ima_api: Use struct_size() in kzalloc() ima: use struct_size() in kzalloc() sefltest/ima: support appended signatures (modsig) ima: Fix use after free in ima_read_modsig() MODSIGN: make new include file self contained ima: fix freeing ongoing ahash_request ima: always return negative code for error ima: Store the measurement again when appraising a modsig ima: Define ima-modsig template ima: Collect modsig ima: Implement support for module-style appended signatures ima: Factor xattr_verify() out of ima_appraise_measurement() ima: Add modsig appraise_type option for module-style appended signatures integrity: Select CONFIG_KEYS instead of depending on it PKCS#7: Introduce pkcs7_get_digest() PKCS#7: Refactor verify_pkcs7_signature() MODSIGN: Export module signature definitions ima: initialize the "template" field with the default template

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce the modsig keyword to the IMA policy syntax to specify that a given hook should expect the file to have the IMA signature appended to it. Here is how it can be used in a rule: appraise func=KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK appraise_type=imasig|modsig With this rule, IMA will accept either a signature stored in the extended attribute or an appended signature. For now, the rule above will behave exactly the same as if appraise_type=imasig was specified. The actual modsig implementation will be introduced separately. This can be useful to squeeze out a bit more memory under extreme condition as well as making the active object counts in /proc/slabinfo more accurate. This usually applies only to the root caches, as the SLUB_MEMCG_SYSFS_ON option is usually not enabled and "slub_memcg_sysfs=1" not set. Even if memcg sysfs is turned on, it is too cumbersome and impractical to manage all those per-memcg sysfs files in a real production system. So there is no practical way to shrink memcg caches. Fix this by enabling a proper write to the shrink sysfs file of the root cache to scan all the available memcg caches and shrink them as well. For a non-root memcg cache (when SLUB_MEMCG_SYSFS_ON or slub_memcg_sysfs is on), only that cache will be shrunk when written. On a 2-socket 64-core 256-thread arm64 system with 64k page after a parallel kernel build, the the amount of memory occupied by slabs before shrinking slabs were: # grep task_struct /proc/slabinfo task_struct 53137 53192 4288 61 4 : tunables 0 0 0 : slabdata 872 872 0 # grep "^S[lRU]" /proc/meminfo Slab: 3936832 kB SReclaimable: 399104 kB SUnreclaim: 3537728 kB After shrinking slabs (by echoing "1" to all shrink files): # grep "^S[lRU]" /proc/meminfo Slab: 1356288 kB SReclaimable: 263296 kB SUnreclaim: 1092992 kB # grep task_struct /proc/slabinfo task_struct 2764 6832 4288 61 4 : tunables 0 0 0 : slabdata 112 112 0 Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/20190723151445.7385-1-longman@redhat.com Signed-off-by: Waiman Long <longman@redhat.com> Acked-by: Roman Gushchin <guro@fb.com> Acked-by: Christoph Lameter <cl@linux.com> Cc: Pekka Enberg <penberg@kernel.org> Cc: David Rientjes <rientjes@google.com> Cc: Joonsoo Kim <iamjoonsoo.kim@lge.com> Cc: Michal Hocko <mhocko@kernel.org> Cc: Johannes Weiner <hannes@cmpxchg.org> Cc: Shakeel Butt <shakeelb@google.com> Cc: Vladimir Davydov <vdavydov.dev@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

| |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Backlight brightness curves can have different shapes. The two main types are linear and non-linear curves. The human eye doesn't perceive linearly increasing/decreasing brightness as linear (see also 88ba95bedb79 "backlight: pwm_bl: Compute brightness of LED linearly to human eye"), hence many backlights use non-linear (often logarithmic) brightness curves. The type of curve currently is opaque to userspace, so userspace often uses more or less reliable heuristics (like the number of brightness levels) to decide whether to treat a backlight device as linear or non-linear. Export the type of the brightness curve via the new sysfs attribute 'scale'. The value of the attribute can be 'linear', 'non-linear' or 'unknown'. For devices that don't provide information about the scale of their brightness curve the value of the 'scale' attribute is 'unknown'. | |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds a sysfs interface that provides the name of the remote processor to userspace. This allows the userspace to identify a remote processor as the remoteproc devices themselves are created based on probe order and can change from one boot to another or at runtime. The name is made available in debugfs originally, and is being retained for now. This can be cleaned up after couple of releases once users get familiar with the new interface. It is modeled after the same feature introduced in commit c83ad55eaa91 ("ext4: include charset encoding information in the superblock") Currently this is not compatible with encryption, similar to the current ext4 imlpementation. This will change in the future. >From the ext4 patch: """ The s_encoding field stores a magic number indicating the encoding format and version used globally by file and directory names in the filesystem. The s_encoding_flags defines policies for using the charset encoding, like how to handle invalid sequences. The magic number is mapped to the exact charset table, but the mapping is specific to ext4. Since we don't have any commitment to support old encodings, the only encoding I am supporting right now is utf8-12.1.0. The current implementation prevents the user from enabling encoding and per-directory encryption on the same filesystem at the same time. The incompatibility between these features lies in how we do efficient directory searches when we cannot be sure the encryption of the user provided fname will match the actual hash stored in the disk without decrypting every directory entry, because of normalization cases. My quickest solution is to simply block the concurrent use of these features for now, and enable it later, once we have a better solution. | |/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make .BTF section allocated and expose its contents through sysfs. /sys/kernel/btf directory is created to contain all the BTFs present inside kernel. Currently there is only kernel's main BTF, represented as /sys/kernel/btf/kernel file. Once kernel modules' BTFs are supported, each module will expose its BTF as /sys/kernel/btf/<module-name> file. Current approach relies on a few pieces coming together: 1. pahole is used to take almost final vmlinux image (modulo .BTF and kallsyms) and generate .BTF section by converting DWARF info into BTF. This section is not allocated and not mapped to any segment, though, so is not yet accessible from inside kernel at runtime. 2. objcopy dumps .BTF contents into binary file and subsequently convert binary file into linkable object file with automatically generated symbols _binary__btf_kernel_bin_start and _binary__btf_kernel_bin_end, pointing to start and end, respectively, of BTF raw data. 3. final vmlinux image is generated by linking this object file (and kallsyms, if necessary). sysfs_btf.c then creates /sys/kernel/btf/kernel file and exposes embedded BTF contents through it. This allows, e.g., libbpf and bpftool access BTF info at well-known location, without resorting to searching for vmlinux image on disk (location of which is not standardized and vmlinux image might not be even available in some scenarios, e.g., inside qemu during testing). Alternative approach using .incbin assembler directive to embed BTF contents directly was attempted but didn't work, because sysfs_proc.o is not re-compiled during link-vmlinux.sh stage. This is required, though, to update embedded BTF data (initially empty data is embedded, then pahole generates BTF info and we need to regenerate sysfs_btf.o with updated contents, but it's too late at that point). If BTF couldn't be generated due to missing or too old pahole, sysfs_btf.c handles that gracefully by detecting that _binary__btf_kernel_bin_start (weak symbol) is 0 and not creating /sys/kernel/btf at all. v2->v3: - added Documentation/ABI/testing/sysfs-kernel-btf (Greg K-H); - created proper kobject (btf_kobj) for btf directory (Greg K-H); - undo v2 change of reusing vmlinux, as it causes extra kallsyms pass due to initially missing __binary__btf_kernel_bin_{start/end} symbols; v1->v2: - allow kallsyms stage to re-use vmlinux generated by gen_btf(); Reviewed-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: Andrii Nakryiko <andriin@fb.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Borkmann <daniel@iogearbox.net>

A external buffer can implement its own window allocation/deallocation if it has to. It must provide a callback that's used to notify it when a window fills up, so that it can then start a DMA transaction from that window 'elsewhere'. This window remains in a 'locked' state and won't be used for storing new trace data until the buffer 'unlocks' it with a provided API call, at which point the window can be used again for storing trace data. This relies on a functional "last block" interrupt, so not all versions of Trace Hub can use this feature, which does not reflect on existing users. | |/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | System firmware advertises the address of the 'Runtime Configuration Interface table version 2 (RCI2)' via an EFI Configuration Table entry. This code retrieves the RCI2 table from the address and exports it to sysfs as a binary attribute 'rci2' under /sys/firmware/efi/tables directory. The approach adopted is similar to the attribute 'DMI' under /sys/firmware/dmi/tables. RCI2 table contains BIOS HII in XML format and is used to populate BIOS setup page in Dell EMC OpenManage Server Administrator tool. The BIOS setup page contains BIOS tokens which can be configured. * | platform/x86: asus: Rename "fan mode" to "fan boost mode"Daniel Drake2019-07-171-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Asus WMI spec indicates that the function being controlled here is called "Fan Boost Mode". The user-facing documentation also calls it this. The spec uses the term "fan mode" is used to refer to other things, including functionality expected to appear on future products. We missed this before as we are not dealing with the most readable of specs, and didn't forsee any confusion around shortening the name. Rename "fan mode" to "fan boost mode" to improve consistency with the spec and to avoid a future naming conflict. There is no interface breakage here since this has yet to be included in an official kernel release. I also updated the kernel version listed under ABI accordingly.
