* | drivers/virt: introduce Freescale hypervisor management driverTimur Tabi2011-07-081-0/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add the drivers/virt directory, which houses drivers that support virtualization environments, and add the Freescale hypervisor management driver. The Freescale hypervisor management driver provides several services to drivers and applications related to the Freescale hypervisor: 1. An ioctl interface for querying and managing partitions 2. A file interface to reading incoming doorbells 3. An interrupt handler for shutting down the partition upon receiving the shutdown doorbell from a manager partition 4. A kernel interface for receiving callbacks when a managed partition shuts down. | * mmc: core: Add mmc CMD+ACMD passthrough ioctlJohn Calixto2011-05-241-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Allows appropriately-privileged applications to send CMD (normal) and ACMD (application-specific; preceded with CMD55) commands to cards/devices on the mmc bus. This is primarily useful for enabling the security functionality built in to every SD card. It can also be used as a generic passthrough (e.g. to enable virtual machines to control mmc bus devices directly). However, this use case has not been tested rigorously. Generic passthrough testing was only conducted for a few non-security opcodes to prove the feasibility of the passthrough. Since any opcode can be sent using this passthrough, it is very possible to render the card/device unusable. Applications that use this ioctl must have CAP_SYS_RAWIO. Security commands tested on TI PCIxx12 (SDHCI), Sigma Designs SMP8652 SoC, TI OMAP3621/OMAP3630 SoC, Samsung S5PC110 SoC, Qualcomm MSM7200A SoC. Now there are also some addresses pointing to .spec files some are located, but some(after searching on the companies site)where still no where to be found. * LinuxPPS: core supportRodolfo Giometti2009-06-181-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds the kernel side of the PPS support currently named "LinuxPPS". PPS means "pulse per second" and a PPS source is just a device which provides a high precision signal each second so that an application can use it to adjust system clock time. Common use is the combination of the NTPD as userland program with a GPS receiver as PPS source to obtain a wallclock-time with sub-millisecond synchronisation to UTC. To obtain this goal the userland programs shoud use the PPS API specification (RFC 2783 - Pulse-Per-Second API for UNIX-like Operating Systems, Version 1.0) which in part is implemented by this patch. It provides a set of chars devices, one per PPS source, which can be used to get the time signal. The RFC's functions can be implemented by accessing to these char devices. | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make sure that each error condition during the execution of an HDIO_DRIVE_RESET ioctl is actually reported to the calling process. Also, unify the exit path of reset_pollfunc() when returning ide_stopped since the need of ->port_ops->reset_poll() to be treated specially has vanished (way back, it seems). * Update documentation of HDIO_DRIVE_RESET ioctlElias Oltmanns2008-07-161-3/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Alter the entry for HDIO_DRIVE_RESET in Documentation/ioctl/hdio.txt to reflect a functional change in the driver. Besides, the entry has been inaccurate before. * Fix typos in /Documentation : 'U-Z'Matt LaPlante2006-11-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes typos in various Documentation txts. The patch addresses some +words starting with the letters 'U-Z'. Looks like I made it through the alphabet...just in time to start over again +too! Maybe I can fit more profound fixes into the next round...? Time will +tell. :) Signed-off-by: Matt LaPlante <kernel1@cyberdogtech.com> Acked-by: Randy Dunlap <rdunlap@xenotime.net> Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de>
* Fix "can not" in Documentation and KconfigMatt LaPlante2006-10-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Randy brought it to my attention that in proper english "can not" should always be written "cannot". I donot see any reason to argue, even if I mightnot understand why this rule exists. This patch fixes "can not" in several Documentation files as well as three Kconfigs. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
