| * usb: gadget: f_uac2: allow changing terminal types through configfsJames Gruber2023-10-051-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add "c_terminal_type" and "p_terminal_type" configfs entries in order to allow the user to change the capture and playback terminal type codes. These fields affect the type of audio device that Windows detects, so being able to modify this is useful when it would be advantageous for a gadget to be detected as something other than a generic speaker/microphone. The fields default to microphone for the capture type field and speaker for the playback type field as was the case before. | * usb: gadget: midi2: More flexible MIDI 1.0 configurationTakashi Iwai2023-07-261-16/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch allows users to set up MIDI 1.0 ports more flexibly. Namely, instead of the fixed mapping only from FB 0, now multiple block definitions are applied to build up the MIDI 1.0 mapping. The each block config has midi1_first_group and midi1_num_groups attributes, and those specify which Groups are used for MIDI 1.0. Those fields must be within the UMP Groups defined in the block itself. | * usb: gadget: midi2: Add "Operation Mode" controlTakashi Iwai2023-07-261-0/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add a new ALSA control element to watch the current operation mode (MIDI 1.0 or MIDI 2.0). It's a read-only control that reflects the current value of altsetting, and 0 means unused, 1 for MIDI 1.0 (altset 0) and 2 for MIDI 2.0 (altset 1). * usb: gadget: uvc: Make bmControls attr read/writeDaniel Scally2023-03-291-0/+28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For the Processing Unit and Camera Terminal descriptors defined in the UVC Gadget we currently hard-code values into their bmControls fields, which enumerates which controls the gadget is able to support. This isn't appropriate since only the userspace companion program to the kernel driver will know which controls are supported. Make the configfs attributes that point to those fields read/write so userspace can set them to appropriate values. Document the new behaviour at the same time so the functionality is clear. * usbip: add USBIP_URB_* URB transfer flagsShuah Khan2022-08-311-7/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | USBIP driver packs URB transfer flags in network packets that are exchanged between Server (usbip_host) and Client (vhci_hcd). URB_* flags are internal to kernel and could change. Where as USBIP URB flags exchanged in network packets are USBIP user API must not change. Add USBIP_URB* flags to make this an explicit API and change the client and server to map them. Details as follows: Client tx path (USBIP_CMD_SUBMIT): - Maps URB_* to USBIP_URB_* when it sends USBIP_CMD_SUBMIT packet. Server rx path (USBIP_CMD_SUBMIT): - Maps USBIP_URB_* to URB_* when it receives USBIP_CMD_SUBMIT packet. Flags aren't included in USBIP_CMD_UNLINK and USBIP_RET_SUBMIT packets and no special handling is needed for them in the following cases: - Server rx path (USBIP_CMD_UNLINK) - Client rx path & Server tx path (USBIP_RET_SUBMIT) Update protocol documentation to reflect the change. * usb: gadget: f_mass_storage: forced_eject attributeMaxim Devaev2022-07-142-0/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It allows to reset prevent_medium_removal flag and "eject" the image. This can be useful to free the drive from a hunging host or if the host continues to use the drive even after unmounting (Linux does this). It's also a bit like using an unfolded paperclip on an optical drive. Previously, the undocumented method of sending SIGUSR1 to a special "file-storage" kernel thread could be used for these purposes, but when using multiple storages there was no way to distinguish one from the other, so we had to send a signal to everyone. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Allow setting configfs params p_hs_bint/c_hs_bint to 0. If they are set to 0, determine the largest bInterval (4 to 1) for which the required bandwidth of the max samplerate fits the max allowed packet size. If the required bandwidth exceeds max bandwidth for single-packet mode (ep->mc=1), keep bInterval at 1. The FS speed is left at fixed bInterval=1. If for any speed the required bandwidth exceeds the max bandwidth corresponding to the selected/determined bInterval, print a warning. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A list of sampling rates can be specified via configfs. All enabled sampling rates are sent to the USB host on request. Current implementation adds new userspace interface ALSA mixer control "Capture Pitch 1000000" (similar to aloop driver's "PCM Rate Shift 100000" mixer control) Value in PPM is chosen to have correction value agnostic of the actual HW rate, which the application is not necessarily dealing with, while still retaining a good enough precision to allow smooth clock correction on the playback side, if necessary. Similar to sound/usb/endpoint.c, a slow down is allowed up to 25%. This has no impact on the required bandwidth. Speedup correction has an impact on the bandwidth reserved for the isochronous endpoint. The default allowed speedup is 500ppm. This seems to be more than enough but, if necessary, this is configurable through a module parameter. The reserved bandwidth is rounded up to the next packet size. Usage of this new control is easy to implement in existing userspace tools like alsaloop from alsa-utils. * usb: gadget: u_ether: support configuring interface names.Lorenzo Colitti2021-01-151-15/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch allows the administrator to configure the interface name of a function using u_ether (e.g., eem, ncm, rndis). Currently, all such interfaces, regardless of function type, are always called usb0, usb1, etc. This makes it very cumbersome to use more than one such type at a time, because userspace cannnot easily tell the interfaces apart and apply the right configuration to each one. Interface renaming in userspace based on driver doesn't help, because the interfaces all have the same driver. Without this patch, doing this require hacks/workarounds such as setting fixed MAC addresses on the functions, and then renaming by MAC address, or scraping configfs after each interface is created to find out what it is. Setting the interface name is done by writing to the same "ifname" configfs attribute that reports the interface name after the function is bound. The write must contain an interface pattern such as "usb%d" (which will cause the net core to pick the next available interface name starting with "usb"). This patch does not allow writing an exact interface name (as opposed to a pattern) because if the interface already exists at bind time, the bind will fail and the whole gadget will fail to activate. This could be allowed in a future patch. For compatibility with current userspace, when reading an ifname that has not currently been set, the result is still "(unnamed net_device)". Once a write to ifname happens, then reading ifname will return whatever was last written. Tested by configuring an rndis function and an ncm function on the same gadget, and writing "rndis%d" to ifname on the rndis function and "ncm%d" to ifname on the ncm function. When the gadget was bound, the rndis interface was rndis0 and the ncm interface was ncm0. * | usb: raw-gadget: fix gadget endpoint selectionAndrey Konovalov2020-05-141-3/+2
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently automatic gadget endpoint selection based on required features doesn't work. Raw Gadget tries iterating over the list of available endpoints and finding one that has the right direction and transfer type. Unfortunately selecting arbitrary gadget endpoints (even if they satisfy feature requirements) doesn't work, as (depending on the UDC driver) they might have fixed addresses, and one also needs to provide matching endpoint addresses in the descriptors sent to the host. The composite framework deals with this by assigning endpoint addresses in usb_ep_autoconfig() before enumeration starts. This approach won't work with Raw Gadget as the endpoints are supposed to be enabled after a set_configuration/set_interface request from the host, so it's too late to patch the endpoint descriptors that had already been sent to the host. For Raw Gadget we take another approach. Similarly to GadgetFS, we allow the user to make the decision as to which gadget endpoints to use. This patch adds another Raw Gadget ioctl USB_RAW_IOCTL_EPS_INFO that exposes information about all non-control endpoints that a currently connected UDC has. This information includes endpoints addresses, as well as their capabilities and limits to allow the user to choose the most fitting gadget endpoint. The USB_RAW_IOCTL_EP_ENABLE ioctl is updated to use the proper endpoint validation routine usb_gadget_ep_match_desc(). These changes affect the portability of the gadgets that use Raw Gadget when running on different UDCs. Nevertheless, as long as the user relies on the information provided by USB_RAW_IOCTL_EPS_INFO to dynamically choose endpoint addresses, UDC-agnostic gadgets can still be written with Raw Gadget. * usb: gadget: add raw-gadget interfaceAndrey Konovalov2020-03-152-0/+62
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | USB Raw Gadget is a kernel module that provides a userspace interface for the USB Gadget subsystem. Essentially it allows to emulate USB devices from userspace. Enabled with CONFIG_USB_RAW_GADGET. Raw Gadget is currently a strictly debugging feature and shouldn't be used in production. Raw Gadget is similar to GadgetFS, but provides a more low-level and direct access to the USB Gadget layer for the userspace. The key differences are: 1. Every USB request is passed to the userspace to get a response, while GadgetFS responds to some USB requests internally based on the provided descriptors. However note, that the UDC driver might respond to some requests on its own and never forward them to the Gadget layer. 2. GadgetFS performs some sanity checks on the provided USB descriptors, while Raw Gadget allows you to provide arbitrary data as responses to USB requests. 3. Raw Gadget provides a way to select a UDC device/driver to bind to, while GadgetFS currently binds to the first available UDC. 4. Raw Gadget uses predictable endpoint names (handles) across different UDCs (as long as UDCs have enough endpoints of each required transfer type). 5. Raw Gadget has ioctl-based interface instead of a filesystem-based one.
