Merge series from Charles Keepax <ckeepax@opensource.cirrus.com>:
In some cs42l43 systems a couple of cs35l56 amplifiers are attached
to the cs42l43's SPI and I2S. On Windows the cs42l43 is controlled
by a SDCA class driver and these two amplifiers are controlled by
firmware running on the cs42l43. However, under Linux the decision
was made to interact with the cs42l43 directly, affording the user
greater control over the audio system. However, this has resulted
in an issue where these two bridged cs35l56 amplifiers are not
populated in ACPI and must be added manually. There is at least an
SDCA extension unit DT entry we can key off.
The process of adding this is handled using a software node, firstly the
ability to add native chip selects to software nodes must be added.
Secondly, an additional flag for naming the SPI devices is added this
allows the machine driver to key to the correct amplifier. Then finally,
the cs42l43 SPI driver adds the two amplifiers directly onto its SPI
bus.
An additional series will follow soon to add the audio machine driver
parts (in the sof-sdw driver), however that is fairly orthogonal to
this part of the process, getting the actual amplifiers registered.

pull-request: bpf 2024-03-25
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net* tree.
We've added 17 non-merge commits during the last 12 day(s) which contain

The main changes are:
1) Fix an arm64 BPF JIT bug in BPF_LDX_MEMSX implementation's offset handling
found via test_bpf module, from Puranjay Mohan.
2) Various fixups to the BPF arena code in particular in the BPF verifier and
around BPF selftests to match latest corresponding LLVM implementation,

6) Fix libbpf's arena mmap handling which had incorrect u64-to-pointer cast on

7) Fix libbpf to define MFD_CLOEXEC when not available, from Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.
8) Fix arm64 BPF JIT implementation for 32bit unconditional bswap which
resulted in an incorrect swap as indicated by test_bpf, from Artem Savkov.
9) Fix BPF man page build script to use silent mode, from Hangbin Liu.

Since the Renesas Ethernet Switch driver was added by Yoshihiro Shimoda,
I started receiving the patches to review for it -- which I was unable to
do, as I don't know this hardware and don't even have the manuals for it.
Fortunately, Shimoda-san has volunteered to be a reviewer for this new
driver, thus let's now split the single entry into 3 per-driver entries,
each with its own reviewer...

Commit 8167bd1c8a45 ("ASoC: dt-bindings: ti,pcm1681: Convert to dtschema")
converts ti,pcm1681.txt to ti,pcm1681.yaml, but misses to adjust the file
entry in TEXAS INSTRUMENTS AUDIO (ASoC/HDA) DRIVERS.
Hence, ./scripts/get_maintainer.pl --self-test=patterns complains about a
broken reference.
Adjust the file entry in TEXAS INSTRUMENTS AUDIO (ASoC/HDA) DRIVERS after
this conversion.

RISC-V uses xRET instructions on return from interrupt and to go back
to user-space; the xRET instruction is not core serializing.
Use FENCE.I for providing core serialization as follows:
- by calling sync_core_before_usermode() on return from interrupt (cf.
ipi_sync_core()),
- via switch_mm() and sync_core_before_usermode() (respectively, for
uthread->uthread and kthread->uthread transitions) before returning
to user-space.
On RISC-V, the serialization in switch_mm() is activated by resetting
the icache_stale_mask of the mm at prepare_sync_core_cmd().

To gather the architecture requirements of the "private/global
expedited" membarrier commands. The file will be expanded to
integrate further information about the membarrier syscall (as
needed/desired in the future). While at it, amend some related
inline comments in the membarrier codebase.

The membarrier system call requires a full memory barrier after storing
to rq->curr, before going back to user-space. The barrier is only
needed when switching between processes: the barrier is implied by
mmdrop() when switching from kernel to userspace, and it's not needed
when switching from userspace to kernel.
Rely on the feature/mechanism ARCH_HAS_MEMBARRIER_CALLBACKS and on the
primitive membarrier_arch_switch_mm(), already adopted by the PowerPC
architecture, to insert the required barrier.

Pull char/misc and other driver subsystem updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of char/misc and a number of other driver
subsystem updates for 6.9-rc1. Included in here are:
- IIO driver updates, loads of new ones and evolution of existing ones
- coresight driver updates
- const cleanups for many driver subsystems
- speakup driver additions
- platform remove callback void cleanups
- mei driver updates
- mhi driver updates
- cdx driver updates for MSI interrupt handling
- nvmem driver updates

All of these have been in linux-next for a long time with no reported
issue, other than a build warning for the speakup driver"
The build warning hits clang and is a gcc (and C23) extension, and is
fixed up in the merge.

New approach from Nuno Sa to the problem of reuse of drivers with
IIO devices that are actually the combination of a highspeed chip
and an FPGA core handling the data capture and flows. It will hopefully

The ID is actually a PCI ID belonging to realtech. No response was received
to earlier attempts to notify them of this.
The manufacturers of some devices have replied to say they will not fix
this incorrect ID. Add the ID and hope it isn't a problem.

- Add BOSC0200 ACPI ID. Note this is a duplicate of one in the bmc150
driver (it appears these parts share a windows driver).
Both drivers perform an ID check that is safe on the other part before
successfully probing.

- Add color temperature and chromaticity support. Note this is a replacement
for the series reverted in 6.8 that correctly handles all the potential
channel combinations.

- Triggered buffer support (after driver cleanup).

Various minor typo fixes and better use of defines etc.
Treewide
- Stop using ACPI_PTR(). The savings in space are small and not worth
the complexity of __maybe_unused of ifdef guards. To avoid use in
new IIO drivers based on copy and paste, clean it out.
- cleanup.h based handling of iio_device_claim_direct_mode()/
iio_device_release_direct_mode() using scope_cond_guard().
In many drivers this is combined with other automated cleanup
to give maximum simplifications.
An initial set of drivers are converted over to this infrastructure.

This is a Framework to handle complex IIO aggregate devices.
The typical architecture is to have one device as the frontend device which
can be "linked" against one or multiple backend devices. All the IIO and
userspace interface is expected to be registers/managed by the frontend
device which will callback into the backends when needed (to get/set
some configuration that it does not directly control).
The basic framework interface is pretty simple:
- Backends should register themselves with @devm_iio_backend_register()
- Frontend devices should get backends with @devm_iio_backend_get()
