* dt-bindings: display: Split common Solomon properties in their own schemaJavier Martinez Canillas2023-10-181-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | There are DT properties that can be shared across different Solomon OLED Display Controller families. Split them into a separate common schema to avoid these properties to be duplicated in different DT bindings schemas. From my perspective I think it's an experiment worth going with and seeing how the benefits/noise playout keeping these files useful. Ideally I'd like to get this so we can do pre-merge testing on PRs eventually. Below is some info from danvet on why we've ended up making the decision and how we can roll it back if we decide it was a bad plan. Why in upstream? - like documentation, testcases, tools CI integration is one of these things where you can waste endless amounts of time if you accidentally have a version that doesn't match your source code - but also like the above, there's a balance, this is the initial cut of what we think makes sense to keep in sync vs out-of-tree, probably needs adjustment - gitlab supports out-of-repo gitlab integration and that's what's been used for the kernel in drm, but it results in per-driver fragmentation and lots of duplicated effort. the simple act of smashing an arbitrary winner into a topic branch already started surfacing patches on dri-devel and sparking good cross driver team discussions Why gitlab? - it's not any more shit than any of the other CI - drm userspace uses it extensively for everything in userspace, we have a lot of people and experience with this, including integration of hw testing labs - media userspace like gstreamer is also on gitlab.fd.o, and there's discussion to extend this to the media subsystem in some fashion Can this be shared? - there's definitely a pile of code that could move to scripts/ if other subsystem adopt ci integration in upstream kernel git. other bits are more drm/gpu specific like the igt-gpu-tests/tools integration - docker images can be run locally or in other CI runners Will we regret this? - it's all in one directory, intentionally, for easy deletion - probably 1-2 years in upstream to see whether this is worth it or a Big Mistake. that's roughly what it took to _really_ roll out solid CI in the bigger userspace projects we have on gitlab.fd.o like mesa3d" * tag 'topic/drm-ci-2023-08-31-1' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/drm/drm: drm: ci: docs: fix build warning - add missing escape drm: Add initial ci/ subdirectory

There are also other automated tools that uprev dependencies, monitor the infra, and so on that are already used by the Mesa project, and we can reuse them too. Also, store expectations about what the DRM drivers are supposed to pass in the IGT test suite. By storing the test expectations along with the code, we can make sure both stay in sync with each other so we can know when a code change breaks those expectations. Also, include a configuration file that points to the out-of-tree CI scripts. This will allow all contributors to drm to reuse the infrastructure already in gitlab.freedesktop.org to test the driver on several generations of the hardware. That is where development now takes place and myself and Namhyung Kim have write access, more people to come as we emulate other maintainer groups. perf record: - Record kernel data maps when 'perf record --data' is used, so that global variables can be resolved and used in tools that do data profiling. perf trace: - Remove the old, experimental support for BPF events in which a .c file was passed as an event: "perf trace -e hello.c" to then get compiled and loaded. The only known usage for that, that shipped with the kernel as an example for such events, augmented the raw_syscalls tracepoints and was converted to a libbpf skeleton, reusing all the user space components and the BPF code connected to the syscalls. In the end just the way to glue the BPF part and the user space type beautifiers changed, now being performed by libbpf skeletons. The next step is to use BTF to do pretty printing of all syscall types, as discussed with Alan Maguire and others. Since we now default to NDEBUG=1, we ended up segfaulting when building with BUILD_NONDISTRO=1 because a needed initialization routine was being "error checked" via an assert. Fix it by explicitly checking the result and aborting instead if it fails. We better back propagate the error, but at least 'perf annotate' on samples collected for a BPF program is back working when perf is built with BUILD_NONDISTRO=1. perf report/top: - Add back TUI hierarchy mode header, that is seen when using 'perf report/top --hierarchy'. - Fix the number of entries for 'e' key in the TUI that was preventing navigation of lines when expanding an entry. perf report/script: - Support cross platform register handling, allowing a perf.data file collected on one architecture to have registers sampled correctly displayed when analysis tools such as 'perf report' and 'perf script' are used on a different architecture. - Fix handling of event attributes in pipe mode, i.e. when one uses: perf record -o - | perf report -i - When no perf.data files are used. - Handle files generated via pipe mode with a version of perf and then read also via pipe mode with a different version of perf, where the event attr record may have changed, use the record size field to properly support this version mismatch. perf probe: - Accessing global variables from uprobes isn't supported, make the error message state that instead of stating that some minimal kernel version is needed to have that feature. This seems just a tool limitation, the kernel probably has all that is needed. perf tests: - Fix a reference count related leak in the dlfilter v0 API where the result of a thread__find_symbol_fb() is not matched with an addr_location__exit() to drop the reference counts of the resolved components (machine, thread, map, symbol, etc). Add a dlfilter test to make sure that doesn't regresses. - Lots of fixes for the 'perf test' written in shell script related to problems found with the shellcheck utility. - Fixes for 'perf test' shell scripts testing features enabled when perf is built with BUILD_BPF_SKEL=1, such as 'perf stat' bpf counters. - Add perf record sample filtering test, things like the following example, that gets implemented as a BPF filter attached to the event: # perf record -e task-clock -c 10000 --filter 'ip < 0xffffffff00000000' - Improve the way the task_analyzer test checks if libtraceevent is linked, using 'perf version --build-options' instead of the more expensinve 'perf record -e "sched:sched_switch"'. - Add support for riscv in the mmap-basic test. (This went as well via the RiscV tree, same contents). libperf: - Implement riscv mmap support (This went as well via the RiscV tree, same contents). perf script: - New tool that converts perf.data files to the firefox profiler format so that one can use the visualizer at https://profiler.firefox.com/. Done by Anup Sharma as part of this year's Google Summer of Code. One can generate the output and upload it to the web interface but Anup also automated everything: perf script gecko -F 99 -a sleep 60 - Support syscall name parsing on arm64. - Print "cgroup" field on the same line as "comm". perf bench: - Add new 'uprobe' benchmark to measure the overhead of uprobes with/without BPF programs attached to it. - breakpoints are not available on power9, skip that test. perf stat: - Add #num_cpus_online literal to be used in 'perf stat' metrics, and add this extra 'perf test' check that exemplifies its purpose: TEST_ASSERT_VAL("#num_cpus_online", expr__parse(&num_cpus_online, ctx, "#num_cpus_online") == 0); TEST_ASSERT_VAL("#num_cpus", expr__parse(&num_cpus, ctx, "#num_cpus") == 0); TEST_ASSERT_VAL("#num_cpus >= #num_cpus_online", num_cpus >= num_cpus_online); Miscellaneous: - Improve tool startup time by lazily reading PMU, JSON, sysfs data. - Improve error reporting in the parsing of events, passing YYLTYPE to error routines, so that the output can show were the parsing error was found. - Add 'perf test' entries to check the parsing of events improvements. - Fix various leak for things detected by -fsanitize=address, mostly things that would be freed at tool exit, including: - Free evsel->filter on the destructor. - Allow tools to register a thread->priv destructor and use it in 'perf trace'. - Free evsel->priv in 'perf trace'. - Free string returned by synthesize_perf_probe_point() when the caller fails to do all it needs. - Adjust various compiler options to not consider errors some warnings when building with broken headers found in things like python, flex, bison, as we otherwise build with -Werror. Some for gcc, some for clang, some for some specific version of those, some for some specific version of flex or bison, or some specific combination of these components, bah. - Allow customization of clang options for BPF target, this helps building on gentoo where there are other oddities where BPF targets gets passed some compiler options intended for the native build, so building with WERROR=0 helps while these oddities are fixed. - Dont pass ERR_PTR() values to perf_session__delete() in 'perf top' and 'perf lock', fixing some segfaults when handling some odd failures. - Add LTO build option. - Fix format of unordered lists in the perf docs (tools/perf/Documentation) - Overhaul the bison files, using constructs such as YYNOMEM. - Remove unused tokens from the bison .y files. - Add more comments to various structs. - A few LoongArch enablement patches. Vendor events (JSON): - Add JSON metrics for Yitian 710 DDR (aarch64). Things like: EventName, BriefDescription visible_window_limit_reached_rd, "At least one entry in read queue reaches the visible window limit.", visible_window_limit_reached_wr, "At least one entry in write queue reaches the visible window limit.", op_is_dqsosc_mpc , "A DQS Oscillator MPC command to DRAM.", op_is_dqsosc_mrr , "A DQS Oscillator MRR command to DRAM.", op_is_tcr_mrr , "A Temperature Compensated Refresh(TCR) MRR command to DRAM.", - Add AmpereOne metrics (aarch64). - Update N2 and V2 metrics (aarch64) and events using Arm telemetry repo. - Update scale units and descriptions of common topdown metrics on aarch64. Things like: - "MetricExpr": "stall_slot_frontend / (#slots * cpu_cycles)", - "BriefDescription": "Frontend bound L1 topdown metric", + "MetricExpr": "100 * (stall_slot_frontend / (#slots * cpu_cycles))", + "BriefDescription": "This metric is the percentage of total slots that were stalled due to resource constraints in the frontend of the processor.", - Update events for intel: meteorlake to 1.04, sapphirerapids to 1.15, Icelake+ metric constraints. - Update files for the power10 platform" * tag 'perf-tools-for-v6.6-1-2023-09-05' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/perf/perf-tools: (217 commits) perf parse-events: Fix driver config term perf parse-events: Fixes relating to no_value terms perf parse-events: Fix propagation of term's no_value when cloning perf parse-events: Name the two term enums perf list: Don't print Unit for "default_core" perf vendor events intel: Fix modifier in tma_info_system_mem_parallel_reads for skylake perf dlfilter: Avoid leak in v0 API test use of resolve_address() perf metric: Add #num_cpus_online literal perf pmu: Remove str from perf_pmu_alias perf parse-events: Make common term list to strbuf helper perf parse-events: Minor help message improvements perf pmu: Avoid uninitialized use of alias->str perf jevents: Use "default_core" for events with no Unit perf test stat_bpf_counters_cgrp: Enhance perf stat cgroup BPF counter test perf test shell stat_bpf_counters: Fix test on Intel perf test shell record_bpf_filter: Skip 6.2 kernel libperf: Get rid of attr.id field perf tools: Convert to perf_record_header_attr_id() libperf: Add perf_record_header_attr_id() perf tools: Handle old data in PERF_RECORD_ATTR ...

In this case DMA will fail. To get around with this issue this patch series does the below: 1] Andes alternative ports is implemented as errata which checks if the IOCP is missing and only then applies to CMO errata. One vendor specific SBI EXT (ANDES_SBI_EXT_IOCP_SW_WORKAROUND) is implemented as part of errata. Below are the configs which Andes port provides (and are selected by RZ/Five): - ERRATA_ANDES - ERRATA_ANDES_CMO OpenSBI patch supporting ANDES_SBI_EXT_IOCP_SW_WORKAROUND SBI is now part v1.3 release. 2] Andes AX45MP core has a Programmable Physical Memory Attributes (PMA) block that allows dynamic adjustment of memory attributes in the runtime. It contains a configurable amount of PMA entries implemented as CSR registers to control the attributes of memory locations in interest. OpenSBI configures the PMA regions as required and creates a reserve memory node and propagates it to the higher boot stack. Currently OpenSBI (upstream) configures the required PMA region and passes this a shared DMA pool to Linux. reserved-memory { #address-cells = <2>; #size-cells = <2>; ranges; pma_resv0@58000000 { compatible = "shared-dma-pool"; reg = <0x0 0x58000000 0x0 0x08000000>; no-map; linux,dma-default; }; }; The above shared DMA pool gets appended to Linux DTB so the DMA memory requests go through this region. 3] We provide callbacks to synchronize specific content between memory and cache. 4] RZ/Five SoC selects the below configs - AX45MP_L2_CACHE - DMA_GLOBAL_POOL - ERRATA_ANDES - ERRATA_ANDES_CMO ----------x---------------------x--------------------x---------------x---- * b4-shazam-merge: soc: renesas: Kconfig: Select the required configs for RZ/Five SoC cache: Add L2 cache management for Andes AX45MP RISC-V core dt-bindings: cache: andestech,ax45mp-cache: Add DT binding documentation for L2 cache controller riscv: mm: dma-noncoherent: nonstandard cache operations support riscv: errata: Add Andes alternative ports riscv: asm: vendorid_list: Add Andes Technology to the vendors list Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230818135723.80612-1-prabhakar.mahadev-lad.rj@bp.renesas.com Signed-off-by: Palmer Dabbelt <palmer@rivosinc.com>

The accesses from IOCP are coherent with D-Caches and L2 Cache. IOCP is a specification option and is disabled on the Renesas RZ/Five SoC due to this reason IP blocks using DMA will fail. The Andes AX45MP core has a Programmable Physical Memory Attributes (PMA) block that allows dynamic adjustment of memory attributes in the runtime. It contains a configurable amount of PMA entries implemented as CSR registers to control the attributes of memory locations in interest. Below are the memory attributes supported: * Device, Non-bufferable * Device, bufferable * Memory, Non-cacheable, Non-bufferable * Memory, Non-cacheable, Bufferable * Memory, Write-back, No-allocate * Memory, Write-back, Read-allocate * Memory, Write-back, Write-allocate * Memory, Write-back, Read and Write-allocate More info about PMA (section 10.3): Link: http://www.andestech.com/wp-content/uploads/AX45MP-1C-Rev.-5.0.0-Datasheet.pdf As a workaround for SoCs with IOCP disabled CMO needs to be handled by software. Firstly OpenSBI configures the memory region as "Memory, Non-cacheable, Bufferable" and passes this region as a global shared dma pool as a DT node. With DMA_GLOBAL_POOL enabled all DMA allocations happen from this region and synchronization callbacks are implemented to synchronize when doing DMA transactions. Example PMA region passes as a DT node from OpenSBI: reserved-memory { #address-cells = <2>; #size-cells = <2>; ranges; pma_resv0@58000000 { compatible = "shared-dma-pool"; reg = <0x0 0x58000000 0x0 0x08000000>; no-map; linux,dma-default; }; }; Signed-off-by: Lad Prabhakar <prabhakar.mahadev-lad.rj@bp.renesas.com> Reviewed-by: Conor Dooley <conor.dooley@microchip.com> Tested-by: Conor Dooley <conor.dooley@microchip.com> # tyre-kicking on a d1 Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230818135723.80612-6-prabhakar.mahadev-lad.rj@bp.renesas.com Signed-off-by: Palmer Dabbelt <palmer@rivosinc.com>

Hence, ./scripts/get_maintainer.pl --self-test=patterns complains about a broken reference. Remove the obsolete file pattern in the REAL TIME CLOCK (RTC) SUBSYSTEM. This avoids that the guest refills the TLBs again for addresses that aren't covered by the table PTE. - Fix vPMU issues related to handling of PMUver. - Don't unnecessary align non-stack allocations in the EL2 VA space - Drop HCR_VIRT_EXCP_MASK, which was never used... - Don't use smp_processor_id() in kvm_arch_vcpu_load(), but the cpu parameter instead - Drop redundant call to kvm_set_pfn_accessed() in user_mem_abort() - Remove prototypes without implementations RISC-V: - Zba, Zbs, Zicntr, Zicsr, Zifencei, and Zihpm support for guest - Added ONE_REG interface for SATP mode - Added ONE_REG interface to enable/disable multiple ISA extensions - Improved error codes returned by ONE_REG interfaces - Added KVM_GET_REG_LIST ioctl() implementation for KVM RISC-V - Added get-reg-list selftest for KVM RISC-V s390: - PV crypto passthrough enablement (Tony, Steffen, Viktor, Janosch) Allows a PV guest to use crypto cards. Card access is governed by the firmware and once a crypto queue is "bound" to a PV VM every other entity (PV or not) looses access until it is not bound anymore. Enablement is done via flags when creating the PV VM. - Guest debug fixes (Ilya) x86: - Clean up KVM's handling of Intel architectural events - Intel bugfixes - Add support for SEV-ES DebugSwap, allowing SEV-ES guests to use debug registers and generate/handle #DBs - Clean up LBR virtualization code - Fix a bug where KVM fails to set the target pCPU during an IRTE update - Fix fatal bugs in SEV-ES intrahost migration - Fix a bug where the recent (architecturally correct) change to reinject #BP and skip INT3 broke SEV guests (can't decode INT3 to skip it) - Retry APIC map recalculation if a vCPU is added/enabled - Overhaul emergency reboot code to bring SVM up to par with VMX, tie the "emergency disabling" behavior to KVM actually being loaded, and move all of the logic within KVM - Fix user triggerable WARNs in SVM where KVM incorrectly assumes the TSC ratio MSR cannot diverge from the default when TSC scaling is disabled up related code - Add a framework to allow "caching" feature flags so that KVM can check if the guest can use a feature without needing to search guest CPUID - Rip out the ancient MMU_DEBUG crud and replace the useful bits with CONFIG_KVM_PROVE_MMU - Fix KVM's handling of !visible guest roots to avoid premature triple fault injection - Overhaul KVM's page-track APIs, and KVMGT's usage, to reduce the API surface that is needed by external users (currently only KVMGT), and fix a variety of issues in the process Generic: - Wrap kvm_{gfn,hva}_range.pte in a union to allow mmu_notifier events to pass action specific data without needing to constantly update the main handlers. - Drop unused function declarations Selftests: - Add testcases to x86's sync_regs_test for detecting KVM TOCTOU bugs - Add support for printf() in guest code and covert all guest asserts to use printf-based reporting - Clean up the PMU event filter test and add new testcases - Include x86 selftests in the KVM x86 MAINTAINERS entry" * tag 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/virt/kvm/kvm: (279 commits) KVM: x86/mmu: Include mmu.h in spte.h KVM: x86/mmu: Use dummy root, backed by zero page, for !visible guest roots KVM: x86/mmu: Disallow guest from using !visible slots for page tables KVM: x86/mmu: Harden TDP MMU iteration against root w/o shadow page KVM: x86/mmu: Harden new PGD against roots without shadow pages KVM: x86/mmu: Add helper to convert root hpa to shadow page drm/i915/gvt: Drop final dependencies on KVM internal details KVM: x86/mmu: Handle KVM bookkeeping in page-track APIs, not callers KVM: x86/mmu: Drop @slot param from exported/external page-track APIs KVM: x86/mmu: Bug the VM if write-tracking is used but not enabled KVM: x86/mmu: Assert that correct locks are held for page write-tracking KVM: x86/mmu: Rename page-track APIs to reflect the new reality KVM: x86/mmu: Drop infrastructure for multiple page-track modes KVM: x86/mmu: Use page-track notifiers iff there are external users KVM: x86/mmu: Move KVM-only page-track declarations to internal header KVM: x86: Remove the unused page-track hook track_flush_slot() drm/i915/gvt: switch from ->track_flush_slot() to ->track_remove_region() KVM: x86: Add a new page-track hook to handle memslot deletion drm/i915/gvt: Don't bother removing write-protection on to-be-deleted slot KVM: x86: Reject memslot MOVE operations if KVMGT is attached ...

The sensor selector can selector a speific thermal sensor as temperature input. The sampling register is used to obtain the temperature in real time, the control register GATE field is used to set the threshold of high or low temperature, when the input temperature is higher than the high temperature threshold or lower than the low temperature threshold, an interrupt will occur.
