If src or dest is declared as a char, attempts to copy more than byte will result in a fortify_panic(). Address this problem in mvebu_setup_boot_addr_wa() by declaring mvebu_boot_wa_start and mvebu_boot_wa_end as character arrays. Also remove a couple addressof operators to avoid "arithmetic on pointer to an incomplete type" compiler error. See commit 54a7d50b9205 ("x86: mark kprobe templates as character arrays, not single characters") for a similar fix. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit cd4806911cee3901bc2b5eb95603cf1958720b57 ] For most of Exynos SoCs, Power Management Unit (PMU) address space is mapped into global variable 'pmu_base_addr' very early when initializing PMU interrupt controller. A lot of other machine code depends on it so when doing iounmap() on this address, clear the global as well to avoid usage of invalid value (pointing to unmapped memory region). Properly mapped PMU address space is a requirement for all other machine code so this fix is purely theoretical. Boot will fail immediately in many other places after following this error path. On all versions of Tegra30 Cardhu, the reset signal to the NXP PCA9546 I2C mux is connected to the Tegra GPIO BB0. Currently, this pin on the Tegra is not configured as a GPIO but as a special-function IO (SFIO) that is multiplexing the pin to an I2S controller. On exiting system suspend, I2C commands sent to the PCA9546 are failing because there is no ACK. Although it is not possible to see exactly what is happening to the reset during suspend, by ensuring it is configured as a GPIO and driven high, to de-assert the reset, the failures are no longer seen. Please note that this GPIO is also used to drive the reset signal going to the camera connector on the board. However, given that there is no camera support currently for Cardhu, this should not have any impact. Contention on updating a PMD entry by a large number of vcpus can lead to duplicate work when handling stage 2 page faults. As the page table update follows the break-before-make requirement of the architecture, it can lead to repeated refaults due to clearing the entry and flushing the tlbs. This problem is more likely when - * there are large number of vcpus * the mapping is large block mapping such as when using PMD hugepages (512MB) with 64k pages. Fix this by skipping the page table update if there is no change in the entry being updated. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit b4c7e2bd2eb4764afe3af9409ff3b1b87116fa30 ] Dynamic ftrace requires modifying the code segments that are usually set to read-only. To do this, a per arch function is called both before and after the ftrace modifications are performed. The "before" function will set kernel code text to read-write to allow for ftrace to make the modifications, and the "after" function will set the kernel code text back to "read-only" to keep the kernel code text protected. The issue happens when dynamic ftrace is tested at boot up. The test is done before the kernel code text has been set to read-only. But the "before" and "after" calls are still performed. The "after" call will change the kernel code text to read-only prematurely, and other boot code that expects this code to be read-write will fail. The solution is to add a variable that is set when the kernel code text is expected to be converted to read-only, and make the ftrace "before" and "after" calls do nothing if that variable is not yet set. This is similar to the x86 solution from commit 162396309745 ("ftrace, x86: make kernel text writable only for conversions"). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Building kernels before linux-4.7 with gcc-8 results in many build failures when gcc triggers a check that was meant to catch broken compilers: /tmp/ccCGMQmS.s:648: Error: .err encountered According to the discussion in the gcc bugzilla, a local "register asm()" variable is still supposed to be the correct way to force an inline assembly to use a particular register, but marking it 'const' lets the compiler do optimizations that break that, i.e the compiler is free to treat the variable as either 'const' or 'register' in that case. Upstream commit 9f73bd8bb445 ("ARM: uaccess: remove put_user() code duplication") fixed this problem in linux-4.8 as part of a larger change, but seems a little too big to be backported to 4.4. Let's take the simplest fix and change only the one broken line in the same way as newer kernels. According to the reference manual the shp_2_mcu / mcu_2_shp scripts must be used for devices connected through the SPBA. This fixes an issue we saw with DMA transfers. Sometimes the SPI controller RX FIFO was not empty after a DMA transfer and the driver got stuck in the next PIO transfer when it read one word more than expected. commit dd4b487b32a35 ("ARM: dts: imx6: Use correct SDMA script for SPI cores") is fixing the same issue but only for SPI1 - 4. NUMREGBYTES (which is used as the size for gdb_regs[]) is incorrectly based on DBG_MAX_REG_NUM instead of GDB_MAX_REGS. DBG_MAX_REG_NUM is the number of total registers, while GDB_MAX_REGS is the number of 'unsigned longs' it takes to serialize those registers. Since FP registers require 3 'unsigned longs' each, DBG_MAX_REG_NUM is smaller than GDB_MAX_REGS. This causes GDB 8.0 give the following error on connect: "Truncated register 19 in remote 'g' packet" This also causes the register serialization/deserialization logic to overflow gdb_regs[], overwriting whatever follows. Otherwise noirq resume for devices has already happened. And then dev_pm_disarm_wake_irq() has already disabled the dedicated wake irqs when the interrupt triggers and the wake irq is never handled. For devices that are already in PM runtime suspended state when we enter suspend this means that a possible wake irq will never trigger. And this can lead into a situation where a device has a pending padconf wake irq, and the device will stay unresponsive to any further wake irqs. This issue can be easily reproduced by setting serial console log level to zero, letting the serial console idle, and suspend the system from an ssh terminal. Then try to wake up the system by typing to the serial console. Note that this affects only omap3 PRM interrupt as that's currently the only omap variant that does anything in omap_pm_wake(). In general, for the wake irqs to work, the interrupt must have either IRQF_NO_SUSPEND or IRQF_EARLY_RESUME set for it to trigger before dev_pm_disarm_wake_irq() disables the wake irqs. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit db35340c536f1af0108ec9a0b2126a05d358d14a ] When more than one GP timers are used as kernel system timers and the corresponding nodes in device-tree are marked with the same "disabled" property, then the "attr" field of the property will be initialized more than once as the property being added to sys file system via __of_add_property_sysfs(). In __of_add_property_sysfs(), the "name" field of pp->attr.attr is set directly to the return value of safe_name(), without taking care of whether it's already a valid pointer to a memory block. If it is, its old value will always be overwritten by the new one and the memory block allocated before will a "ghost", then a kmemleak happened. That the same "disabled" property being added to different nodes of device tree would cause that kind of kmemleak overhead, at least once. To fix it, allocate the property dynamically, and delete static one. There is code duplicated over all architecture's headers for futex_atomic_op_inuser. Namely op decoding, access_ok check for uaddr, and comparison of the result. Remove this duplication and leave up to the arches only the needed assembly which is now in arch_futex_atomic_op_inuser. This effectively distributes the Will Deacon's arm64 fix for undefined behaviour reported by UBSAN to all architectures. The fix was done in commit 5f16a046f8e1 (arm64: futex: Fix undefined behaviour with FUTEX_OP_OPARG_SHIFT usage). Look there for an example dump. And as suggested by Thomas, check for negative oparg too, because it was also reported to cause undefined behaviour report. Note that s390 removed access_ok check in d12a29703 ("s390/uaccess: remove pointless access_ok() checks") as access_ok there returns true. We introduce it back to the helper for the sake of simplicity (it gets optimized away anyway). This memory is reserved using the rproc_mem kernel boot parameter and is assigned to the device on non-DT boots. The remoteproc core uses the DMA API and so will fall back to assigning random memory if this memory is not assigned to the device, but the DSP remote processor boot will not be successful in such cases. So, check that memory has been reserved and assigned to the device specifically before even creating the DSP device. The reason for the storm of interrupts is that the PUS field of register IOMUXC_SW_PAD_CTL_PAD_CSI0_DAT5 is currently configured as: 10 : 100k pullup and the PMIC interrupt is being registered as IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH type, which is the correct type as per the MC34708 datasheet. Use the default power on value for the IOMUX, which sets PUS field as: 00: 360k pull down This prevents the spurious PMIC interrupts from happening. Commit e1ffceb078c6 ("ARM: imx53: qsrb: fix PMIC interrupt level") correctly described the irq type as IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH, but missed to update the IOMUX of the PMIC GPIO as pull down. There are no issues when CLKSTCTRL is set to HW_AUTO in RC mode. However in EP mode, the host system is not able to access the MEMSPACE and setting the CLKSTCTRL to SW_WKUP fixes it. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit 6f05d0761af612e04572ba4d65b4c0274a88444f ] The support for dynamic ftrace with CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA involves overriding the weak arch_ftrace_update_code() with a variant which makes the kernel text writable around the patching. This override was however added under the CONFIG_OLD_MCOUNT ifdef, and CONFIG_OLD_MCOUNT is only enabled if frame pointers are enabled. This leads to non-functional dynamic ftrace (ftrace triggers a WARN_ON()) when CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA is enabled and CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER is not. Move the override out of that ifdef and into the CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE ifdef where it belongs. The pinmuxing was missing for I2C1 which was causing intermittent issues with the PMIC which is connected to I2C1. The bootloader did not quite configure the I2C1 either, so when running at 2.6MHz, it was generating errors at time.
