* ARM: at91: pm: fix imbalanced reference counter for ethernet devicesClaudiu Beznea2023-06-141-11/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit ccd4923d18d5698a5910d516646ce125b9155d47 ] The of_find_device_by_node() function is returning a struct platform_device object with the embedded struct device member's reference counter incremented. This needs to be dropped when done with the platform device returned by of_find_device_by_node(). at91_pm_eth_quirk_is_valid() calls of_find_device_by_node() on suspend and resume path. On suspend it calls of_find_device_by_node() and on resume and failure paths it drops the counter of struct platform_device::dev. In case ethernet device may not wakeup there is a put_device() on at91_pm_eth_quirk_is_valid() which is wrong as it colides with put_device() on resume path leading to the reference counter of struct device embedded in struct platform_device to be messed, stack trace to be displayed (after 5 consecutive suspend/resume cycles) and execution to hang. Along with this the error path of at91_pm_config_quirks() had been also adapted to decrement propertly the reference counter of struct device embedded in struct platform_device. * ARM: 9295/1: unwind:fix unwind abort for uleb128 caseHaibo Li2023-06-091-1/+24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit fa3eeb638de0c1a9d2d860e5b48259facdd65176 ] When unwind instruction is 0xb2,the subsequent instructions are uleb128 bytes. For now,it uses only the first uleb128 byte in code. For vsp increments of 0x204~0x400,use one uleb128 byte like below: 0xc06a00e4 <unwind_test_work>: 0x80b27fac Compact model index: 0 0xb2 0x7f vsp = vsp + 1024 0xac pop {r4, r5, r6, r7, r8, r14} For vsp increments larger than 0x400,use two uleb128 bytes like below: 0xc06a00e4 <unwind_test_work>: @0xc0cc9e0c Compact model index: 1 0xb2 0x81 0x01 vsp = vsp + 1032 0xac pop {r4, r5, r6, r7, r8, r14} The unwind works well since the decoded uleb128 byte is also 0x81. For vsp increments larger than 0x600,use two uleb128 bytes like below: 0xc06a00e4 <unwind_test_work>: @0xc0cc9e0c Compact model index: 1 0xb2 0x81 0x02 vsp = vsp + 1544 0xac pop {r4, r5, r6, r7, r8, r14} In this case,the decoded uleb128 result is 0x101(vsp=0x204+(0x101<<2)). While the uleb128 used in code is 0x81(vsp=0x204+(0x81<<2)). The unwind aborts at this frame since it gets incorrect vsp. To fix this,add uleb128 decode to cover all the above case. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit 892943d7729bbfb2edeed9e323eba9a5cec21c49 ] According to Renesas Electronics (formerly Dialog Semiconductor), the standard AUTO mode of the PMIC DA9061 can lead to stability problems depending on the hardware revision. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 91aa4b3782448a7a13baa8cbcdfd5fd19defcbd9 upstream. This worked before by coincidence, as the regulator was probed and enabled before PCI RC probe. But probe order changed since commit 259b93b21a9f ("regulator: Set PROBE_PREFER_ASYNCHRONOUS for drivers that existed in 4.14") and PCIe supply is enabled after RC. Fix this by adding the regulator to RC node. The PCIe vaux regulator still needs to be enabled unconditionally for Mini-PCIe USB-only devices. * ARM: 9297/1: vfp: avoid unbalanced stack on 'success' return pathArd Biesheuvel2023-05-242-4/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit 2b951b0efbaa6c805854b60c11f08811054d50cd ] Commit c76c6c4ecbec0deb5 ("ARM: 9294/2: vfp: Fix broken softirq handling with instrumentation enabled") updated the VFP exception entry logic to go via a C function, so that we get the compiler's version of local_bh_disable(), which may be instrumented, and isn't generally callable from assembler. However, this assumes that passing an alternative 'success' return address works in C as it does in asm, and this is only the case if the C calls in question are tail calls, as otherwise, the stack will need some unwinding as well. I have already sent patches to the list that replace most of the asm logic with C code, and so it is preferable to have a minimal fix that addresses the issue and can be backported along with the commit that it fixes to v6.3 from v6.4. Hopefully, we can land the C conversion for v6.5. So instead of passing the 'success' return address as a function argument, pass the stack address from where to pop it so that both LR and SP have the expected value. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit c76c6c4ecbec0deb56a4f9e932b26866024a508f ] Commit 62b95a7b44d1 ("ARM: 9282/1: vfp: Manipulate task VFP state with softirqs disabled") replaced the en/disable preemption calls inside the VFP state handling code with en/disabling of soft IRQs, which is necessary to allow kernel use of the VFP/SIMD unit when handling a soft IRQ. Unfortunately, when lockdep is enabled (or other instrumentation that enables TRACE_IRQFLAGS), the disable path implemented in asm fails to perform the lockdep and RCU related bookkeeping, resulting in spurious warnings and other badness. Set let's rework the VFP entry code a little bit so we can make the local_bh_disable() call from C, with all the instrumentations that happen to have been configured. Calling local_bh_enable() can be done from asm, as it is a simple wrapper around __local_bh_enable_ip(), which is always a callable function. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit a622310f7f0185da02e42cdb06475f533efaae60 ] OMAP processors support 32 channels but there is no check or inspect this except booting a device and looking at dmesg reports of not available channels. Recently some more subsystems with DMA (aes1+2) were added filling the list of dma channels beyond the limit of 32 (even if other parameters indicate 96 or 128 channels). This leads to random subsystem failures i(e.g. mcbsp for audio) after boot or boot messages that DMA can not be initialized. Another symptom is that /sys/kernel/debug/dmaengine/summary has 32 entries and does not show all required channels. Fix by disabling unused (on the GTA04 hardware) mcspi1...4. Each SPI channel allocates 4 DMA channels rapidly filling the available ones. Disabling unused SPI modules on the OMAP3 SoC may also save some energy (has not been checked). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since commit 75c2f26da03f ("PCI: imx6: Add i.MX PCIe EP mode support") the i.MX6 PCI driver is no longer selected by default. The existing PCI_IMX6 was made a hidden option, selected by new options PCI_IMX6_HOST (for the existing support) and PCI_IMX6_EP (for the endpoint mode), but there has been no corresponding update to imx_v6_v7_defconfig so the PCI_IMX6 ends up getting disabled. Switch imx_v6_v7_defconfig to PCI_IMX6_HOST to preserve the existing functionality. This is based on the same fix done in commit 0cd5780eb625 ("arm64: defconfig: Fix unintentional disablement of PCI on i.MX"). These usually add support for additional chip variations in existing drivers, but also add features or bugfixes. The SCMI firmware subsystem gains a unified raw userspace interface through debugfs, which can be used for validation purposes. Support for PMIC GLINK is introduced, which on newer Qualcomm platforms provides an interface to the firmware implementing battery management and USB Type-C handling. Together with the base driver comes the custom altmode support driver. SMD RPM gains support for IPQ9574, and socinfo is extended with support for revision 17 of the information format and soc_id for IPQ5332 and IPQ8064 are added. The qcom_stats is changes not to fail when not all parts are initialized. * tag 'qcom-drivers-for-6.3-2' of https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/qcom/linux: soc: qcom: socinfo: Add IDs for IPQ5332 and its variant dt-bindings: arm: qcom, ids: Add IDs for IPQ5332 and its variant dt-bindings: power: qcom, rpmpd: add RPMH_REGULATOR_LEVEL_LOW_SVS_L1 firmware: qcom_scm: Move qcom_scm.h to include/linux/firmware/qcom/ MAINTAINERS: Update qcom CPR maintainer entry dt-bindings: firmware: document Qualcomm SM8550 SCM dt-bindings: firmware: qcom, scm: add qcom,scm-sa8775p compatible soc: qcom: socinfo: Add Soc IDs for IPQ8064 and variants dt-bindings: arm: qcom, ids: Add Soc IDs for IPQ8064 and variants soc: qcom: socinfo: Add support for new field in revision 17 soc: qcom: smd-rpm: Add IPQ9574 compatible soc: qcom: pmic_glink: remove redundant calculation of svid soc: qcom: stats: Populate all subsystem debugfs files dt-bindings: soc: qcom,rpmh-rsc: Update to allow for generic nodes soc: qcom: pmic_glink: add CONFIG_NET/CONFIG_OF dependencies soc: qcom: pmic_glink: Introduce altmode support soc: qcom: pmic_glink: Introduce base PMIC GLINK driver dt-bindings: soc: qcom: Introduce PMIC GLINK binding soc: qcom: dcc: Drop driver for now Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230210182242.2023901-1-andersson@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

I have never thought --include-dir useful. Rather, it _is_ harmful. For example, run the following commands: $ make -s ARCH=x86 mrproper defconfig $ make ARCH=arm O=foo dtbs make[1]: Entering directory '/tmp/linux/foo' HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep Error: kernelrelease not valid - run 'make prepare' to update it UPD include/config/kernel.release make[1]: Leaving directory '/tmp/linux/foo' The first command configures the source tree for x86. The next command tries to build ARM device trees in the separate foo/ directory - this must stop because the directory foo/ has not been configured yet. However, due to --include-dir=$(abs_srctree), the top Makefile includes the wrong include/config/auto.conf from the source tree and continues building. Kbuild traverses the directory tree, but of course it does not work correctly. The Error message is also pointless - 'make prepare' does not help at all for fixing the issue. This commit fixes more arch Makefile, and finally removes --include-dir from the top Makefile. There are more breakages under drivers/, but I do not volunteer to fix them all. I just moved --include-dir to drivers/Makefile. With this commit, the second command will stop with a sensible message. $ make -s ARCH=x86 mrproper defconfig $ make ARCH=arm O=foo dtbs make[1]: Entering directory '/tmp/linux/foo' SYNC include/config/auto.conf.cmd *** *** The source tree is not clean, please run 'make ARCH=arm mrproper' *** in /tmp/linux *** make[2]: *** [../Makefile:646: outputmakefile] Error 1 /tmp/linux/Makefile:770: include/config/auto.conf.cmd: No such file or directory make[1]: *** [/tmp/linux/Makefile:793: include/config/auto.conf.cmd] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory '/tmp/linux/foo' make: *** [Makefile:226: __sub-make] Error 2 Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <masahiroy@kernel.org>
