* sh: dma: Fix DMA channel offset calculationArtur Rojek2023-08-111-13/+24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit e82e47584847129a20b8c9f4a1dcde09374fb0e0 ] Various SoCs of the SH3, SH4 and SH4A family, which use this driver, feature a differing number of DMA channels, which can be distributed between up to two DMAC modules. The existing implementation fails to correctly accommodate for all those variations, resulting in wrong channel offset calculations and leading to kernel panics. Rewrite dma_base_addr() in order to properly calculate channel offsets in a DMAC module. Fix dmaor_read_reg() and dmaor_write_reg(), so that the correct DMAC module base is selected for the DMAOR register. Fixes: 7f47c7189b3e8f19 ("sh: dma: More legacy cpu dma chainsawing.") A return of 0 causes the boot option/value to be listed as an Unknown kernel parameter and added to init's (limited) argument or environment strings. Also, error return codes don't mean anything to obsolete_checksetup() -- only non-zero (usually 1) or zero. So return 1 from nmi_debug_setup(). Fixes: 1e1030dccb10 ("sh: nmi_debug support.") The first is it's design use to be the guts of the exit(2) system call. The second use is to terminate a task after something catastrophic has happened like a NULL pointer in kernel code. Add a function make_task_dead that is initialy exactly the same as do_exit to cover the cases where do_exit is called to handle catastrophic failure. In time this can probably be reduced to just a light wrapper around do_task_dead. For now keep it exactly the same so that there will be no behavioral differences introducing this new concept. Replace all of the uses of do_exit that use it for catastraphic task cleanup with make_task_dead to make it clear what the code is doing. * hugetlbfs: flush TLBs correctly after huge_pmd_unshareNadav Amit2021-12-011-0/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit a4a118f2eead1d6c49e00765de89878288d4b890 upstream. When __unmap_hugepage_range() calls to huge_pmd_unshare() succeed, a TLB flush is missing. This TLB flush must be performed before releasing the i_mmap_rwsem, in order to prevent an unshared PMDs page from being released and reused before the TLB flush took place. Arguably, a comprehensive solution would use mmu_gather interface to batch the TLB flushes and the PMDs page release, however it is not an easy solution: (1) try_to_unmap_one() and try_to_migrate_one() also call huge_pmd_unshare() and they cannot use the mmu_gather interface; and (2) deferring the release of the page reference for the PMDs page until after i_mmap_rwsem is dropeed can confuse huge_pmd_unshare() into thinking PMDs are shared when they are not. Fix __unmap_hugepage_range() by adding the missing TLB flush, and forcing a flush when unshare is successful. Hence the pata_platform driver translates them again using ioport_map(). * Fix 'acccess_ok()' on alpha and SHLinus Torvalds2020-06-221-2/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 94bd8a05cd4de344a9a57e52ef7d99550251984f upstream. Commit 594cc251fdd0 ("make 'user_access_begin()' do 'access_ok()'") broke both alpha and SH booting in qemu, as noticed by Guenter Roeck. It turns out that the bug wasn't actually in that commit itself (which would have been surprising: it was mostly a no-op), but in how the addition of access_ok() to the strncpy_from_user() and strnlen_user() functions now triggered the case where those functions would test the access of the very last byte of the user address space. The string functions actually did that user range test before too, but they did it manually by just comparing against user_addr_max(). But with user_access_begin() doing the check (using "access_ok()"), it now exposed problems in the architecture implementations of that function. For example, on alpha, the access_ok() helper macro looked like this: #define __access_ok(addr, size) \ ((get_fs().seg & (addr | size | (addr+size))) == 0) and what it basically tests is of any of the high bits get set (the USER_DS masking value is 0xfffffc0000000000). And that's completely wrong for the "addr+size" check. Because it's off-by-one for the case where we check to the very end of the user address space, which is exactly what the strn*_user() functions do. Why? Because "addr+size" will be exactly the size of the address space, so trying to access the last byte of the user address space will fail the __access_ok() check, even though it shouldn't. As a result, the user string accessor functions failed consistently - because they literally don't know how long the string is going to be, and the max access is going to be that last byte of the user address space. Side note: that alpha macro is buggy for another reason too - it re-uses the arguments twice. And SH has another version of almost the exact same bug: #define __addr_ok(addr) \ ((unsigned long __force)(addr) < current_thread_info()->addr_limit.seg) so far so good: yes, a user address must be below the limit. But then: #define __access_ok(addr, size) \ (__addr_ok((addr) + (size))) is wrong with the exact same off-by-one case: the case when "addr+size" is exactly _equal_ to the limit is actually perfectly fine (think "one byte access at the last address of the user address space") The SH version is actually seriously buggy in another way: it doesn't actually check for overflow, even though it did copy the _comment_ that talks about overflow. So it turns out that both SH and alpha actually have completely buggy implementations of access_ok(), but they happened to work in practice (although the SH overflow one is a serious serious security bug, not that anybody likely cares about SH security). This fixes the problems by using a similar macro on both alpha and SH. It isn't trying to be clever, the end address is based on this logic: unsigned long __ao_end = __ao_a + __ao_b - !!__ao_b; which basically says "add start and length, and then subtract one unless the length was zero". We can't subtract one for a zero length, or we'd just hit an underflow instead. For a lot of access_ok() users the length is a constant, so this isn't actually as expensive as it initially looks. A closer look reveals other issues: - Some functionality is available on alternative pins, but the PINMUX_DATA() entries is using the wrong marks, - Several configurations are missing. Fix this by: - Renaming CTX0CTX1CTX2_MARK, CRX0CRX1_PJ22_MARK, and CRX0CRX1CRX2_PJ20_MARK to CTX0_CTX1_CTX2_MARK, CRX0_CRX1_PJ22_MARK, resp. CRX0_CRX1_CRX2_PJ20_MARK for consistency with the corresponding enum IDs, - Adding all missing enum IDs and marks, - Use the right (*_PJ2x) variants for alternative pins, - Adding all missing configurations to pinmux_data[], - Adding all missing function GPIO definitions to pinmux_func_gpios[]. This is achieved by moving all page/zone handling to the offline stage, so we do not need to access pages when hot-removing memory. Fixes these build errors: arch/sh/boards/of-generic.o: In function `plat_irq_setup': (.init.text+0x134): multiple definition of `plat_irq_setup' arch/sh/kernel/cpu/sh2/setup-sh7619.o:(.init.text+0x30): first defined here arch/sh/boards/of-generic.o: In function `arch_init_clk_ops': (.init.text+0x118): multiple definition of `arch_init_clk_ops' arch/sh/kernel/cpu/sh2/clock-sh7619.o:(.init.text+0x0): first defined here Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/9ee4e0c5-f100-86a2-bd4d-1d3287ceab31@infradead.org Signed-off-by: Randy Dunlap <rdunlap@infradead.org> Reported-by: kbuild test robot <lkp@intel.com> Cc: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Cc: Yoshinori Sato <ysato@users.sourceforge.jp> Cc: Rich Felker <dalias@libc.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit bc715ee4dbc5db462c59b9cfba92d31b3274fe3a upstream. The function_graph_enter() function does the work of calling the function graph hook function and the management of the shadow stack, simplifying the work done in the architecture dependent prepare_ftrace_return(). Have superh use the new code, and remove the shadow stack management as well as having to set up the trace structure. This is needed to prepare for a fix of a design bug on how the curr_ret_stack is used. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit a0f97e06a43c ("kbuild: enable 'make CFLAGS=...' to add additional options to CC") renamed CFLAGS to KBUILD_CFLAGS. Commit 222d394d30e7 ("kbuild: enable 'make AFLAGS=...' to add additional options to AS") renamed AFLAGS to KBUILD_AFLAGS. Commit 06c5040cdb13 ("kbuild: enable 'make CPPFLAGS=...' to add additional options to CPP") renamed CPPFLAGS to KBUILD_CPPFLAGS. For some reason, LDFLAGS was not renamed. Using a well-known variable like LDFLAGS may result in accidental override of the variable. Kbuild generally uses KBUILD_ prefixed variables for the internally appended options, so here is one more conversion to sanitize the naming convention. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Almost all architectures include it. Add a ARCH_NO_PREEMPT symbol to disable preempt support for alpha, hexagon, non-coldfire m68k and user mode Linux. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move the source of lib/Kconfig.debug and arch/$(ARCH)/Kconfig.debug to the top-level Kconfig. For two architectures that means moving their arch-specific symbols in that menu into a new arch Kconfig.debug file, and for a few more creating a dummy file so that we can include it unconditionally. Also move the actual 'Kernel hacking' menu to lib/Kconfig.debug, where it belongs. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com>
