commit 256efaea1fdc4e38970489197409a26125ee0aaa upstream.
gpiolib has a corner case with open drain outputs that are emulated.
When such outputs are outputting a logic 1, emulation will set the
hardware to input mode, which will cause gpiod_get_direction() to
report that it is in input mode. This is different from the behaviour
with a true open-drain output.
Unify the semantics here.

commit d935bd50dd14a7714cbdba9a76435dbb56edb1ae upstream.
When a GPIO offset in a lookup table is out-of-range, the printed error
message (1) does not include the actual out-of-range value, and (2)
contains an off-by-one error in the upper bound.
Avoid user confusion by also printing the actual GPIO offset, and
correcting the upper bound of the range.
While at it, use "%u" for unsigned int.
Sample impact:
-requested GPIO 0 is out of range [0..32] for chip e6052000.gpio
+requested GPIO 0 (45) is out of range [0..31] for chip e6052000.gpio

commit 64ea3e9094a1f13b96c33244a3fb3a0f45690bd2 upstream.
Commit 384ebe1c2849 ("gpio/omap: Add DT support to GPIO driver") added
the register definition tables to the gpio-omap driver. Subsequently to
that commit, commit 4e962e8998cc ("gpio/omap: remove cpu_is_omapxxxx()
checks from *_runtime_resume()") added definitions for irqstatus_raw*
registers to the legacy OMAP4 definitions, but missed the DT
definitions.
This causes an unintentional change of behaviour for the 1.101 errata
workaround on OMAP4 platforms. Fix this oversight.

commit abf221d2f51b8ce7b9959a8953f880a8b0a1400d upstream.
spi_read() and spi_write() require DMA-safe memory. When
CONFIG_VMAP_STACK is selected, those functions cannot be used
with buffers on stack.
This patch replaces calls to spi_read() and spi_write() by
spi_write_then_read() which doesn't require DMA-safe buffers.

commit e40a3ae1f794a35c4af3746291ed6fedc1fa0f6f upstream.
gcc-7 notices that the pin_table is an array of 16-bit numbers,
but fails to take the following range check into account:
drivers/gpio/gpiolib-acpi.c: In function 'acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt':
drivers/gpio/gpiolib-acpi.c:206:24: warning: '%02X' directive writing between 2 and 4 bytes into a region of size 3 [-Wformat-overflow=]

sprintf(ev_name, "_%c%02X",

As suggested by Andy, this changes the format string to have a fixed length.
Since modifying the range check did not help, I also opened a bug against
gcc, see link below.

commit 2cd29f2387be70de9feb4c9f8dbc7c0bd55748ce upstream.
When an interrupt occurs on an MCP23S08 chip, the INTF register will only
contain one bit as causing the interrupt. If more than two pins change at
the same time on the chip, this causes one of the pins to not be reported.
This patch fixes the logic for checking if a pin has changed, so that
multiple pins will always cause more than one change.

commit 812d47889a8e418d7bea9bec383581a34c19183e upstream.
This fixes the irq allocation in this driver to not print:
irq: Cannot allocate irq_descs @ IRQ34, assuming pre-allocated
irq: Cannot allocate irq_descs @ IRQ66, assuming pre-allocated
Which happens because the driver already called irq_alloc_descs()
and so the change to use irq_domain_add_simple resulted in calling
irq_alloc_descs() twice.
Modernize the irq allocation in this driver to use the
irq_domain_add_linear flow directly and eliminate the use of
irq_domain_add_simple/legacy

The UserMode (UM) Linux build was failing in gpiolib-of as it requires

of IO memory is negatively defined as CONFIG_NO_IOMEM which means we

commit 3dbd3212f81b2b410a34a922055e2da792864829 upstream.
The commit d56d6b3d7d69 ("gpio: langwell: add Intel Merrifield support")
doesn't look at all as a proper support for Intel Merrifield and I dare to say
that it distorts the behaviour of the hardware.
The register map is different on Intel Merrifield, i.e. only 6 out of 8
register have the same purpose but none of them has same location in the
address space. The current case potentially harmful to existing hardware since
it's poking registers on wrong offsets and may set some pin to be GPIO output
when connected hardware doesn't expect such.
Besides the above GPIO and pinctrl on Intel Merrifield have been located in
different IP blocks. The functionality has been extended as well, i.e. added
support of level interrupts, special registers for wake capable sources and
thus, in my opinion, requires a completele separate driver.
If someone wondering the existing gpio-intel-mid.c would be converted to actual
pinctrl (which by the fact it is now), though I wouldn't be a volunteer to do
that.

commit a246b8198f776a16d1d3a3bbfc2d437bad766b29 upstream.
NBANK() macro assumes that ngpios is a multiple of 8(BANK_SZ) and
hence results in 0 banks for PCA9536 which has just 4 gpios. This is
wrong as PCA9356 has 1 bank with 4 gpios. This results in uninitialized
PCA953X_INVERT register. Fix this by using DIV_ROUND_UP macro in

commit b66b2a0adf0e48973b582e055758b9907a7eee7c upstream.
The bcm_kona_gpio_reset() calls bcm_kona_gpio_write_lock_regs()

commit b26a719bdba9aa926ceaadecc66e07623d2b8a53 upstream.
The R-Car GPIO driver handles Runtime PM for requested GPIOs only.
When using a GPIO purely as an interrupt source, no Runtime PM handling
is done, and the GPIO module's clock may not be enabled.
To fix this:
- Add .irq_request_resources() and .irq_release_resources() callbacks
to handle Runtime PM when an interrupt is requested,
- Add irq_bus_lock() and sync_unlock() callbacks to handle Runtime PM
when e.g. disabling/enabling an interrupt, or configuring the
interrupt type.

commit f230e8ffc03f17bd9d6b90ea890b8252a8cc1821 upstream.
This patch fixes an inverted return value of the gpio get_direction
function.
The wrong value causes the direction sysfs entry and GPIO debugfs file
to indicate incorrect GPIO direction settings. In some cases it also
prevents setting GPIO output values.
The problem is also present in all other stable kernel versions since
linux-3.12.

commit 483d821108791092798f5d230686868112927044 upstream.
Unregister GPIOs requested through sysfs at chip remove to avoid leaking
the associated memory and sysfs entries.
The stale sysfs entries prevented the gpio numbers from being exported
when the gpio range was later reused (e.g. at device reconnect).
This also fixes the related module-reference leak.
Note that kernfs makes sure that any on-going sysfs operations finish
before the class devices are unregistered and that further accesses
fail.
The chip exported flag is used to prevent gpiod exports during removal.
This also makes it harder to trigger, but does not fix, the related race
between gpiochip_remove and export_store, which is really a race with
gpiod_request that needs to be addressed separately.
Also note that this would prevent the crashes (e.g. NULL-dereferences)
at reconnect that affects pre-3.18 kernels, as well as use-after-free on
operations on open attribute files on pre-3.14 kernels (prior to
kernfs).

commit 61819549f572edd7fce53f228c0d8420cdc85f71 upstream.
Level IRQ handlers and edge IRQ handler are managed by tow different
sets of registers. But currently the driver uses the same mask for the
both registers. It lead to issues with the following scenario:
First, an IRQ is requested on a GPIO to be triggered on front. After,
this an other IRQ is requested for a GPIO of the same bank but
triggered on level. Then the first one will be also setup to be
triggered on level. It leads to an interrupt storm.
The different kind of handler are already associated with two
different irq chip type. With this patch the driver uses a private
mask for each one which solves this issue.
It has been tested on an Armada XP based board and on an Armada 375
board. For the both boards, with this patch is applied, there is no
such interrupt storm when running the previous scenario.
This bug was already fixed but in a different way in the legacy
version of this driver by Evgeniy Dushistov:
9ece8839b1277fb9128ff6833411614ab6c88d68 "ARM: orion: Fix for certain
sequence of request_irq can cause irq storm". The fact the new version
of the gpio drive could be affected had been discussed there:

assumed that only one gpio-chip is registred per of-node.
Some drivers register more than one chip per of-node, so
adjust the matching function of_gpiochip_find_and_xlate to
not stop looking for chips if a node-match is found and
the translation fails.

commit 00acc3dc248063f982cfacfbe5e78c0d6797ffef upstream.
Fix memory leak and sleep-while-atomic in gpiochip_remove.
The memory leak was introduced by afa82fab5e13 ("gpio / ACPI: Move event
handling registration to gpiolib irqchip helpers") that moved the
release of acpi interrupt resources to gpiochip_irqchip_remove, but by
then the resources are no longer accessible as the acpi_gpio_chip has
already been freed by acpi_gpiochip_remove.
Note that this also fixes a few potential sleep-while-atomics, which has
been around since 1425052097b5 ("gpio: add IRQ chip helpers in gpiolib")
when the call to gpiochip_irqchip_remove while holding a spinlock was
added (a couple of irq-domain paths can end up grabbing mutexes).

commit 324b0398781e7afb846378dd2d8a4374faaf236b upstream.
There is possibility with misconfigured pins that interrupt occurs instantly
after setting irq_set_chained_handler() in gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip().
Now if handler gets called before irq_set_handler_data() the handler gets
NULL handler data.
Fix this by moving irq_set_handler_data() call before
irq_set_chained_handler() in gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip().

commit c15d821ddb9dac9ac6b5beb75bf942f3bc3a4004 upstream.
Fix code when the operation region callback is for an gpio, which
is not at index 0 and for partial pins in a GPIO definition.
For example:
Name (GMOD, ResourceTemplate ()
{
//3 Outputs that define the Power mode of the device
GpioIo (Exclusive, PullDown, , , , "\\_SB.GPI2") {10, 11, 12}
})
}
If opregion callback calls is for:
- Set pin 10, then address = 0 and bit length = 1
- Set pin 11, then address = 1 and bit length = 1
- Set for both pin 11 and pin 12, then address = 1, bit length = 2
This change requires updated ACPICA gpio operation handler code to
send the pin index and bit length.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio into next
Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij:
"This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v3.16 series.
There is a lot of action in the GPIO subsystem doing refactorings and
cleanups, almost as many deletions as insertions and minor feature
growth and no new drivers this time. Which is actually pretty nice.
Some GPIO-related stuff will come in through the pin control tree as
well.
Details:
- We are finalizing and fixing up the gpiochip irqchip helpers
bringing a helpful irqchip implementation into the gpiolib core and
avoiding duplicate code and, more importantly, duplicate bug fixes:
* Support for using the helpers with threaded interrupt handlers as
used on sleeping GPIO-irqchips
* Do not set up hardware triggers for edges or levels if the
default IRQ type is IRQ_TYPE_NONE - some drivers would exploit
the fact that you could get default initialization of the IRQ
type from the core at probe() but if no default type is set up
from the helper, we should not call the driver to configure
anything. Wait until a consumer requests the interrupt instead.
* Make the irqchip helpers put the GPIO irqs into their own lock
class. The GPIO irqchips can often emit (harmless, but annoying)
lockdep warnings about recursions when they are in fact just
cascaded IRQs. By putting them into their own lock class we help
the lockdep core to keep track of things.
* Switch the tc3589x GPIO expanders to use the irqchip helpers
* Switch the OMAP GPIO driver to use the irqchip helpers
* Add some documentation for the irqchip helpers
* select IRQ_DOMAIN when using the helpers since some platforms may
not be using this by default and it's a strict dependency.
- Continued GPIO descriptor refactoring:
* Remove the one instance of gpio_to_desc() from the device tree
code, making the OF GPIO code use GPIO descriptors only.
* Introduce gpiod_get_optional() and gpiod_get_optional_index()
akin to the similar regulator functions for cases where the use
of GPIO is optional and not strictly required.
* Make of_get_named_gpiod_flags() private - we do not want to
unnecessarily expose APIs to drivers that make the gpiolib harder
than necessary to maintain and refactor. Privatize this
function.
- Support "-gpio" suffix for the OF GPIO retrieveal path. We used to
look for "foo-gpios" or just "gpios" in device tree nodes, but it
turns out that some drivers with a single GPIO line will just state
"foo-gpio" (singularis). Sigh. Support this with a fallback
looking for it, as this simplifies driver code and handles it in
core code.
- Switch the ACPI GPIO core to fetch GPIOs with the *_cansleep
function variants as the GPIO operation region handler can sleep,
and shall be able to handle gpiochips that sleep.
- Tons of cleanups and janitorial work from Jingoo Han, Axel Lin,
Javier Martinez Canillas and Abdoulaye Berthe. Notably Jingoo cut
off a ton of pointless OOM messages.
- Incremental development and fixes for various drivers, nothing
really special here"

This switches the PCA953x driver over to using the gpiolib irqchip
helpers to handle the threaded interrups cascaded off this
GPIO chip.

It's quite possible that multiple pcf857x can be hooked up
to the same interrupt line with the processor. So add IRQF_SHARED
in request irq..

Commit 3e3bed913e8bbd78f38cefd5d575475f45c05dd0
"gpio: mcp23s08: fixed count variable for devicetree probing"
introduced a loop check to see if the number of chips were
unconsistent and going below zero counting downwards, but
this requires the counting variable to be able to be
negative, so switch the variable from unsigned to int.

Right new have one irq chip running always in level mode. It would nicer
to have two irq chips where one is handling level type interrupts and
the other one is doing edge interrupts. So we can have at runtime two users
where one is using edge and the other level.
