| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Having GEM buffers backed by non-coherent memory is interesting in the particular case where it is faster to render to a non-coherent buffer then sync the data cache, than to render to a write-combine buffer, and (by extension) much faster than using a shadow buffer. This is true for instance on some Ingenic SoCs, where even simple blits (e.g. memcpy) are about three times faster using this method. Add a 'map_noncoherent' flag to the drm_gem_cma_object structure, which can be set by the drivers when they create the dumb buffer. Since this really only applies to software rendering, disable this flag as soon as the CMA objects are exported via PRIME. v3: New patch. Now uses a simple 'map_noncoherent' flag to control how the objects are mapped, and use the new dma_mmap_pages function. v4: Make sure map_noncoherent is always disabled when creating GEM objects meant to be used with dma-buf. However, the CMA GEM helpers were still calling driver->gem_free_object directly, now NULL, and promptly dying on the fancy new lockless drivers. Oops. Robert Foss bisected this to b82caafcf2303 (drm/vc4: Use lockless gem BO free callback) on his vc4 device, but that just serves as an enabler for 9f0ba539d13ae (drm/gem: support BO freeing without dev->struct_mutex). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This function is similar to drm_gem_cma_dumb_create() but targetted at kernel internal users so that they can override the pitch and size requirements of the dumb buffer. It is important to make this difference because the IOCTL says that the pitch and size fields are to be considered outputs and therefore should not be used in computations of the framebuffer size. Internal users may still want to use this code to avoid duplication and at the same time pass on additional, driver-specific restrictions on the pitch and size. While at it, convert the R-Car DU driver, the single user that overrides the pitch, to use the new internal helper.
