* drm/via: Add new condition to via_dma_cleanup()Alisa Khabibrakhmanova2022-09-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Pointer dev_priv->mmio, which was checked for NULL at via_do_init_map(), is passed to via_do_cleanup_map() and is dereferenced there without check. The patch adds the condition in via_dma_cleanup() which prevents potential NULL pointer dereference. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE. * drm/via: use idr_init_base() to initialize dev_priv->object_idrDanilo Krummrich2022-07-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | idr_init_base(), implemented by commit 6ce711f27500 ("idr: Make 1-based IDRs more efficient"), let us set an arbitrary base other than idr_init(), which uses base 0. Since, for this IDR, no ID < 1 is ever requested/allocated, using idr_init_base(&idr, 1) avoids unnecessary tree walks. * drm/via: Make macros readable in the via_3d_reg headerSam Ravnborg2022-07-161-148/+74
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The macros for texture 1 setting all used continuation on a new line, resulting in a highly ureadable definition. Merge the lines so they are each on a single line. As a nice side-effect this fixes a number of checkpatch warnings: "WARNING: please, no spaces at the start of a line". | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The via driver implements the DRI1 interface, and we have a new implementation of the via driver coming that supports atomic modesetting. Setting FOLL_PIN is now required for code that requires tracking of pinned pages, and therefore for any code that calls put_user_page(). In partial anticipation of this work, the drm/via driver was already calling put_user_page() instead of put_page(). Therefore, in order to convert from the get_user_pages()/put_page() model, to the pin_user_pages()/put_user_page() model, the only change required is to change get_user_pages() to pin_user_pages(). * mm/gup: change GUP fast to use flags rather than a write 'bool'Ira Weiny2019-05-141-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | To facilitate additional options to get_user_pages_fast() change the singular write parameter to be gup_flags. This patch does not change any functionality. New functionality will follow in subsequent patches. Some of the get_user_pages_fast() call sites were unchanged because they already passed FOLL_WRITE or 0 for the write parameter. NOTE: It was suggested to change the ordering of the get_user_pages_fast() arguments to ensure that callers were converted. This breaks the current GUP call site convention of having the returned pages be the final parameter. So the suggestion was rejected. * drm/irq: Ditch DRIVER_IRQ_SHAREDDaniel Vetter2019-01-291-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is only used by drm_irq_install(), which is an optional helper. For legacy pci devices this is required (due to interrupt sharing without msi/msi-x), and just making this the default exactly matches the behaviour of all existing drivers using the drm_irq_install() helpers. In case that ever becomes wrong drivers can roll their own irq handling, as many drivers already do (for other reasons like needing a threaded interrupt handler, or having an entire pile of different interrupt sources). v2: Rebase v3: Improve commit message (Emil) Cc: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Reviewed-by: Emil Velikov <emil.velikov@collabora.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20190129104248.26607-3-daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch

| * drm/via: use monotonic time for VIA_WAIT_IRQArnd Bergmann2017-11-271-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The normal DRM vblank interrupt events started using monotonic times in commit c61eef726a78 ("drm: add support for monotonic vblank timestamps"), which is useful for a number of reasons, including the possible y2038 overflow. The VIA_WAIT_IRQ ioctl uses the same drm_wait_vblank_reply as DRM_IOCTL_WAIT_VBLANK, but still uses wall-clock time. This converts it to using monotonic time as well, which is more consistent, and avoids problems with the y2038 overflow as well as synchronization issues when the real time skips. I could not find the matching user space that calls the VIA_WAIT_IRQ ioctl to verify that this is safe, but it very likely is. Please either test or review the user space side before applying this. | * drm: via: use ktime_get() instead of do_gettimeofdayArnd Bergmann2017-11-062-16/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We want to remove uses of do_gettimeofday() from the kernel since the resulting timeval structure overflows in 2038. This is not a problem for this particular use, but do_gettimeofday() is also not an appropriate method for measuring time intervals, since it requires a conversion into microseconds and is complicated to work with. ktime_get() is a better replacement, as it works with the monontonic kernel timebase and requires a minimum of computation. I'm slightly changing the output from microseconds to nanoseconds here, to avoid introducing a new division operation. This should be fine since the value is only used for debugging. These should have no behavioral changes, since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following examples, in addition to some other variations. Casting from unsigned long: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data; ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr); and forced object casts: void my_callback(struct something *ptr) { ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr); become: void my_callback(struct timer_list *t) { struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer); ... } ... timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); Direct function assignments: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data; ... } ... ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback; have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args: void my_callback(struct timer_list *t) { struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer); ... } ... ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback; And finally, callbacks without a data assignment: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion: void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused) { ... } ... timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script: spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \ -I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \ -I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \ -I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \ -I ./include/generated/uapi --include ./include/linux/kconfig.h \ --dir . \ --cocci-file ~/src/data/timer_setup.cocci @fix_address_of@ expression e; * drm/pci: Deprecate drm_pci_init/exit completelyDaniel Vetter2017-06-201-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | The magic switching between proper pci driver and shadow-attach isn't useful anymore since there's no ums+kms drivers left. Let's split this up properly, calling pci_register_driver for kms drivers and renaming the shadow-attach init to drm_legacy_pci_init/exit. * drm: Improve drm_mm search (and fix topdown allocation) with rbtreesChris Wilson2017-02-031-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The drm_mm range manager claimed to support top-down insertion, but it was neither searching for the top-most hole that could fit the allocation request nor fitting the request to the hole correctly. In order to search the range efficiently, we create a secondary index for the holes using either their size or their address. This index allows us to find the smallest hole or the hole at the bottom or top of the range efficiently, whilst keeping the hole stack to rapidly service evictions. v2: Search for holes both high and low. Rename flags to mode. v3: Discover rb_entry_safe() and use it! v4: Kerneldoc for enum drm_mm_insert_mode.
