For enabling CPU idle event, CPU arch code should call ledtrig_cpu() stub to trigger idle start or idle end event. These patches convert old style LED driver in arch/arm to gpio_led or new led driver interface. Against 3.5 release and build successfully for all the machines. Test ledtrig-cpu driver on OMAP4 Panda board. v9 --> v10 * fix compiling issue on versatile_defconfig reported by Russell King * rebase to 3.5 kernel and move patches to new git tree v8 --> v9: * use mutex to replace rw_sema pointed out by Tim Gardner * add a new struct led_trigger_cpu * add lock_is_inited to record mutex lock initialization v6 --> v7: * add a patch to unify the led-trigger name * fix some typo pointed * use BUG_ON to detect CPU numbers during building stage v5 --> v6: * replace __get_cpu_var() to per_cpu() * remove smp_processor_id() which is wrong with for_each_possible_cpu() * test on real OMAP4 Panda board * add comments about CPU hotplug in the CPU LED trigger driver v4 --> v5: * rebase all the patches on top of latest linux-next * replace on_each_cpu() with for_each_possible_cpu() * add some description of ledtrig_cpu() API * remove old leds code from driver nwflash.c, which should use a new led trigger then * this trigger driver can be built as module now v3 --> v4: * fix a typo pointed by Jochen Friedrich * fix some building errors * add Reviewed-by and Tested-by into patch log v2 --> v3: * almost rewrote the whole ledtrig-cpu driver, which is more simple * every CPU will have a per-CPU trigger * cpu trigger can be assigned to any leds * fix a lockdep issue in led-trigger common code * other fix according to review v1 --> v2: * remove select operations in Kconfig of every machines * add back supporting of led in core module of mach-integrator * solidate name scheme in ledtrig-cpu.c * add comments of CPU_LED_* cpu led events * fold patches of RealView and Versatile together * add machine_is_ check during assabet led driver init * add some Acked-by in patch logs * remove code for simpad machine in machine-sa11000, since Jochen Friedrich introduced gpiolib and gpio-led driver for simpad * on Assabet and Netwinder machine, LED operations is reversed like: setting bit means turn off leds clearing bit means turn on leds * add a new function to read CM_CTRL register for led driver * 'for-arm-soc' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cooloney/linux-leds: ARM: use new LEDS CPU trigger stub to replace old one ARM: mach-sa1100: retire custom LED code ARM: mach-omap1: retire custom LED code ARM: mach-pnx4008: remove including old leds event API header file ARM: plat-samsung: remove including old leds event API header file ARM: mach-pxa: retire custom LED code char: nwflash: remove old led event code ARM: mach-footbridge: retire custom LED code ARM: mach-ebsa110: retire custom LED code ARM: mach-clps711x: retire custom LED code of P720T machine ARM: mach-integrator: retire custom LED code ARM: mach-integrator: move CM_CTRL to header file for accessing by other functions ARM: mach-orion5x: convert custom LED code to gpio_led and LED CPU trigger ARM: mach-shark: retire custom LED code ARM: mach-ks8695: remove leds driver, since nobody use it ARM: mach-realview and mach-versatile: retire custom LED code ARM: at91: convert old leds drivers to gpio_led and led_trigger drivers led-triggers: create a trigger for CPU activity Conflicts: arch/arm/mach-clps711x/p720t.c arch/arm/mach-sa1100/leds-cerf.c arch/arm/mach-sa1100/leds-lart.c Let's hope this is the last time we pull this and it doesn't cause more trouble. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Attempting to consolidate the ARM LED code, this removes the custom RealView LED trigger code to turn LEDs on and off in response to CPU activity and replace it with a standard trigger. (bryan.wu@canonical.com: It introduces several syscore stubs into this trigger. It also provides ledtrig_cpu trigger event stub in <linux/leds.h>. * leds: add new transient trigger for one shot timer activationShuah Khan2012-05-291-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The leds timer trigger does not currently have an interface to activate a one shot timer. The current support allows for setting two timers, one for specifying how long a state to be on, and the second for how long the state to be off. The delay_on value specifies the time period an LED should stay in on state, followed by a delay_off value that specifies how long the LED should stay in off state. The on and off cycle repeats until the trigger gets deactivated. There is no provision for one time activation to implement features that require an on or off state to be held just once and then stay in the original state forever. Without one shot timer interface, user space can still use timer trigger to set a timer to hold a state, however when user space application crashes or goes away without deactivating the timer, the hardware will be left in that state permanently. As a specific example of this use-case, let's look at vibrate feature on phones. Vibrate function on phones is implemented using PWM pins on SoC or PMIC. There is a need to activate one shot timer to control the vibrate feature, to prevent user space crashes leaving the phone in vibrate mode permanently causing the battery to drain. This trigger exports three properties, activate, state, and duration When transient trigger is activated these properties are set to default values. - duration allows setting timer value in msecs. The initial value is 0. - activate allows activating and deactivating the timer specified by duration as needed. The initial and default value is 0. This will allow duration to be set after trigger activation. - state allows user to specify a transient state to be held for the specified duration. * leds: Renesas TPU LED driverMagnus Damm2011-10-311-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add V2 of the LED driver for a single timer channel for the TPU hardware block commonly found in Renesas SoCs. The driver has been written with optimal Power Management in mind, so to save power the LED is driven as a regular GPIO pin in case of maximum brightness and power off which allows the TPU hardware to be idle and which in turn allows the clocks to be stopped and the power domain to be turned off transparently. Any other brightness level requires use of the TPU hardware in PWM mode. TPU hardware device clocks and power are managed through Runtime PM. System suspend and resume is known to be working - during suspend the LED is set to off by the generic LED code. The TPU hardware timer is equipeed with a 16-bit counter together with an up-to-divide-by-64 prescaler which makes the hardware suitable for brightness control. Hardware blink is unsupported. The LED PWM waveform has been verified with a Fluke 123 Scope meter on a sh7372 Mackerel board. Tested with experimental sh7372 A3SP power domain patches. Platform device bind/unbind tested ok. V2 has been tested on the DS2 LED of the sh73a0-based AG5EVM. * x86: geode: New PCEngines Alix system driverEd Wildgoose2011-09-211-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This new driver replaces the old PCEngines Alix 2/3 LED driver with a new driver that controls the LEDs through the leds-gpio driver. The old driver accessed GPIOs directly, which created a conflict and prevented also loading the cs5535-gpio driver to read other GPIOs on the Alix board. With this new driver, we hook into leds-gpio which in turn uses GPIO to control the LEDs and therefore it's possible to control both the LEDs and access onboard GPIOs Driver is moved to platform/geode as requested by Grant and any other geode initialisation modules should move here also This driver is inspired by leds-net5501.c by Alessandro Zummo. Ideally, leds-net5501.c should also be moved to platform/geode. Additionally the driver relies on parts of the patch: 7f131cf3ed ("leds: leds-alix2c - take port address from MSR) by Daniel Mack to perform detection of the Alix board. * leds: LED driver for Intel NAS SS4200 series (v5)Dave Hansen2009-12-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This code is based on a driver that came in the "Open-source and GPL components" download here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Server+Products&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+Storage+Systems&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Entry+Storage+System+SS4200-E&OSVersion=OS+Independent It was in a file called nasgpio.c inside of a second zip file called SS4200-E_Linux_SIO_Driver-v1.4.zip and is based on this updated to use the LED subsystem with the ioctl and hardware monitor support removed. I don't have any need for brightness control, and its code is *completely* separate from the on/off controls implemented here. If anyone else wants it, I'd be happy to look into adding it, but I don't care enough for now. Except for the probe routines, I rewrote most of it. I also Note that I don't have any hardware documentation except for the original driver. Thanks go to Arjan for his help in getting the original source for this released and for chasing down some licensing issues. * leds: LED driver for National Semiconductor LP3944 Funlight ChipAntonio Ospite2009-06-231-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | LEDs driver for National Semiconductor LP3944 Funlight Chip http://www.national.com/pf/LP/LP3944.html This helper chip can drive up to 8 leds, with two programmable DIM modes; it could even be used as a gpio expander but this driver assumes it is used as a led controller. The DIM modes are used to set _blink_ patterns for leds, the pattern is specified supplying two parameters: - period: from 0s to 1.6s - duty cycle: percentage of the period the led is on, from 0 to 100 LP3944 can be found on Motorola A910 smartphone, where it drives the rgb leds, the camera flash light and the displays backlights. * leds: add BD2802GU LED driverKim Kyuwon2009-04-061-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ROHM BD2802GU is a RGB LED controller attached to i2c bus and specifically engineered for decoration purposes. This RGB controller incorporates lighting patterns and illuminates. This driver is designed to minimize power consumption, so when there is no emitting LED, it enters to reset state. And because the BD2802GU has lots of features that can't be covered by the current LED framework, it provides Advanced Configuration Function(ADF) mode, so that user applications can set registers of BD2802GU directly. Here are basic usage examples : ; to turn on LED (not blink) $ echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/led1_R/brightness ; to blink LED $ echo timer > /sys/class/leds/led1_R/trigger $ echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/led1_R/delay_on $ echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/led1_R/delay_off ; to turn off LED $ echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led1_R/brightness [akpm@linux-foundation.org: coding-style fixes] Signed-off-by: Kim Kyuwon <chammoru@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <rpurdie@linux.intel.com>
* leds: Add gpio-led triggerFelipe Balbi2009-04-061-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The gpio led trigger will allow leds to be triggered by gpio events. When we give the led a gpio number, the trigger will request_irq() on that so we don't have to keep polling for gpio state. It's useful for usecases as n810's keypad leds that could be triggered by the gpio event generated when user slides up to show the keypad. We also provide means for userland to tell us what is the desired brightness for that special led when it goes on so userland could use information from ambient light sensors and not set led brightness too high if it's not necessary. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move the second part of the HP laptop disk protection functionality (a red led) to the same driver. From a purely Linux developer's point of view, the led and the accelerometer have nothing related. However, they correspond to the same ACPI functionality, and so will always be used together, moreover as they share the same ACPI PNP alias, there is no other simple to allow to have same loaded at the same time if they are not in the same module. * leds: Add WM8350 LED driverMark Brown2009-01-081-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The voltage and current regulators on the WM8350 AudioPlus PMIC can be used in concert to provide a power efficient LED driver. This driver implements support for this within the standard LED class. Platform initialisation code should configure the LED hardware in the init callback provided by the WM8350 core driver. The callback should use wm8350_isink_set_flash(), wm8350_dcdc25_set_mode() and wm8350_dcdc_set_slot() to configure the operating parameters of the regulators for their hardware and then then use wm8350_register_led() to instantiate the LED driver.
