* powerpc/windfarm: Improve display of fan speeds in sysfsBenjamin Herrenschmidt2012-04-301-1/+12
| | | | | | | | | Controls registered as RPM and PWM fans are now displayed with the "RPM" or "%" suffix respectively to make it clearer to the user what the value actually means since the fan type isn't otherwise obvious. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
* powerpc/windfarm: Remove spurrious sysfs_attr_init()Benjamin Herrenschmidt2012-04-301-1/+0
| | | | | | The windfarm core will do it, so this is a duplicate. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
* powerpc/windfarm: const'ify and add "priv" field to controls & sensorsBenjamin Herrenschmidt2012-04-301-11/+12
| | | | | | | | | const'ify the sensor ops and name and add a void* for use by the control and sensor drivers to point back to their private data, avoiding the need to create a wrapper data structure per sensor or control instance. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
* powerpc/pmac: Convert windfarm_smu_sat to new i2c probingBenjamin Herrenschmidt2012-04-301-79/+47
| | | | | | | | | This simplifies the driver to stop using the deprecated attach interface. While at it we also implement teardown properly and fix the refcounting by using a kref. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
* powerpc/pmac: Convert windfarm_max6690 to new i2c probingBenjamin Herrenschmidt2012-04-301-79/+21
| | | | | | This simplifies the driver to stop using the deprecated attach interface Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

| | | | | | This simplifies the driver to stop using the deprecated attach interface Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
* powerpc/pmac: Convert therm_adt746x to new i2c probingBenjamin Herrenschmidt2012-04-301-276/+204
| | | | | | This simplifies the driver to stop using the deprecated attach interface, Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
* i2c/powermac: Register i2c devices from device-treeBenjamin Herrenschmidt2012-04-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This causes i2c-powermac to register i2c devices exposed in the device-tree, enabling new-style probing of devices. Note that we prefix the IDs with "MAC," in order to prevent the generic drivers from matching. This is done on purpose as we only want drivers specifically tested/designed to operate on powermacs to match. This removes the special case we had for the AMS driver, and updates the driver's match table instead. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

| | | | | | | | | Remove all #inclusions of asm/system.h preparatory to splitting and killing it. Performed with the following command: perl -p -i -e 's!^#\s*include\s*<asm/system[.]h>.*\n!!' `grep -Irl '^#\s*include\s*<asm/system[.]h>' *` Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com>

|\ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Pull core device tree changes for Linux v3.4 from Grant Likely: "This branch contains a minor documentation addition, a utility function for parsing string properties needed by some of the new ARM platforms, disables dynamic DT code that isn't used anywhere but on a few PPC machines, and exports DT node compatible data to userspace via UEVENT properties. Nothing earth shattering here." * tag 'dt-for-linus' of git://git.secretlab.ca/git/linux-2.6: of: Only compile OF_DYNAMIC on PowerPC pseries and iseries arm/dts: OMAP3: Add omap3evm and am335xevm support drivercore: Output common devicetree information in uevent of: Add of_property_match_string() to find index into a string list
| * drivercore: Output common devicetree information in ueventGrant Likely2012-02-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When userspace needs to find a specific device, it currently isn't easy to resolve a /sys/devices/ path from a specific device tree node. Nor is it easy to obtain the compatible list for devices. This patch generalizes the code that inserts OF_* values into the uevent device attribute so that any device that is attached to an OF node will have that information exported to userspace. Without this patch only platform devices and some powerpc-specific busses have access to this data. The original function also creates a MODALIAS property for the compatible list, but that code has not been generalized into the common case because it has the potential to break module loading on a lot of bus types. Bus types are still responsible for their own MODALIAS properties. Boot tested on ARM and compile tested on PowerPC and SPARC. | * | | powerpc/powermac: Make auto-loading of therm_pm72 possibleMarc Zyngier2010-12-091-25/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The therm_pm72 driver, used on the PowerMac G5 range, cannot be auto-loaded, since the driver itself creates both the device node and the driver instance. Moving the device node creation to the platform setup code and adding the necessary MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() information allows the driver to be automatically loaded by udev on any semi-modern distribution. It "fixes" a major source of problem on G5 machines where the driver wasn't explicitely loaded by default, and the system would automatically shutdown under load. Tested on an Xserve G5. | |/ |/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It's not useful to build LED triggers when there's no LEDs that can be triggered by them. Therefore, fix up the dependencies so that this cannot happen, and fix a few users that select triggers to depend on LEDS_CLASS as well (there is also one user that also selects LEDS_CLASS, which is OK).
