There a 3 array for-loops that don't check the upper bounds of the
index into arrays and this may lead to potential out-of-bounds
reads. Fix this by adding array size upper bounds checks to be
full safe.

Replace the existing /* fall through */ comments and its variants with

As pointed by smatch:
drivers/media/tuners/qt1010.c:239 qt1010_init_meas1() error: uninitialized symbol 'val2'.
drivers/media/tuners/qt1010.c:273 qt1010_init_meas2() error: uninitialized symbol 'val'.
The logic is ok, but it is hard for static analyzers
to parse it, as it depends on a value read in the middle
of a loop.
Also, it takes a while for humans to verify.
Re-write the first function to use a more direct way.
At the second one, I opted to just initialize the read var,
in order to shut up the report.
While here, address a few coding style issues at the
function code.

clang static analysis reports this problem
tuner-simple.c:714:13: warning: Assigned value is

buffer[1] = buffer[3];
^ ~~~~~~~~~
In simple_set_radio_freq buffer[3] used to be done
in-function with a switch of tuner type, now done
by a call to simple_radio_bandswitch which has this case
case TUNER_TENA_9533_DI:
case TUNER_YMEC_TVF_5533MF:
tuner_dbg("This tuner doesn't ...

which does not set buffer[3]. In the old logic, this case
would have returned 0 from simple_set_radio_freq.
Recover this old behavior by returning an error for this
codition. Since the old simple_set_radio_freq behavior
returned a 0, do the same.

Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1]
(or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings
(e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized,
either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes.
In preparation for removing[2] the[3] macro[4], remove all remaining
needless uses with the following script:
git grep '\buninitialized_var\b' | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u | \
xargs perl -pi -e \
's/\buninitialized_var\(([^\)]+)\)/\1/g;
s:\s*/\* (GCC be quiet|to make compiler happy) \*/$::g;'
drivers/video/fbdev/riva/riva_hw.c was manually tweaked to avoid
pathological white-space.
No outstanding warnings were found building allmodconfig with GCC 9.3.0
for x86_64, i386, arm64, arm, powerpc, powerpc64le, s390x, mips, sparc64,
alpha, and m68k.

There are *lots* of I2C ancillary drivers. While we're using
comments to group them, all options appear at the same menu.
It should be a lot clearer to group them into sub-menus, with
may help people to go directly to the driver(s) he's needing
to enable.

Some users have been having a hard time finding the hidden
menus. A typically case are camera sensor drivers
(e.g IMX219, OV5645, etc), which are common on embedded
platforms and not really "ancillary" devices.
The problem with MEDIA_SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT seems to be related
to the fact that it uses the "visible" syntax to hide
the menus.
This is not obvious and it normally takes some time to
figure out.
To fix the problem, add a comment on each of hidden menus,
which should clarify what option is causing menus to be hidden.

kmemdup is introduced to duplicate a region of memory in a neat way.
Rather than kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy, which the programmer needs to
write the size twice (sometimes lead to mistakes), kmemdup improves
readability, leads to smaller code and also reduce the chances of mistakes.
Suggestion to use kmemdup rather than using kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy.

Embedded systems often connect to sensors or other multimedia
subdevices directly. Currently, to be able to select such a
subdevice (e.g. CONFIG_VIDEO_OV5640) disabling of the auto-
select config option is needed (CONFIG_MEDIA_SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT).
This is inconvenient as the ancillary drivers for a particular
device then need to be selected manually.
Allow to select drivers manually while keeping the auto-select
feature in case EXPERT (selected by EMBEDDED) is enabled.

Consumer devices are provided with a wide different range of types
supported by the same driver, allowing different configutations.
In order to make easier to setup media controller links, "taint"
pads with the signal type it carries.
While here, get rid of DEMOD_PAD_VBI_OUT, as the signal it carries
is actually the same as the normal video output.
The difference happens at the video/VBI interface:
- for VBI, only the hidden lines are streamed;
- for video, the stream is usually cropped to hide the
vbi lines.

Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang:
- the core has now a lockless variant of i2c_smbus_xfer. Some open
coded versions of this got removed in drivers. This also enables
proper SCCB support in regmap.
- locking got a more precise naming. i2c_{un}lock_adapter() had to go,
and we know use i2c_lock_bus() consistently with flags like
I2C_LOCK_ROOT_ADAPTER and I2C_LOCK_SEGMENT to avoid ambiguity.
- the gpio fault injector got a new delicate testcase
- the bus recovery procedure got fixed to handle the new testcase
correctly
- a new quirk flag for controllers not able to handle zero length
messages together with driver updates to use it
- new drivers: FSI bus attached I2C masters, GENI I2C controller, Owl
family S900
- and a good set of driver improvements and bugfixes

Locking the root adapter for __i2c_transfer will deadlock if the
device sits behind a mux-locked I2C mux. Switch to the finer-grained
i2c_lock_bus with the I2C_LOCK_SEGMENT flag. If the device does not
sit behind a mux-locked mux, the two locking variants are equivalent.

Right now, satellite frontend drivers specify frequencies in kHz,
while terrestrial/cable ones specify in Hz. That's confusing
for developers.
However, the main problem is that universal frontends capable
of handling both satellite and non-satelite delivery systems
are appearing. We end by needing to hack the drivers in
order to support such hybrid frontends.
So, convert everything to specify frontend frequencies in Hz.
