* net: korina: handle clk prepare error in korina_probe()Yuanjun Gong2023-08-011-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | in korina_probe(), the return value of clk_prepare_enable() should be checked since it might fail. we can use devm_clk_get_optional_enabled() instead of devm_clk_get_optional() and clk_prepare_enable() to automatically handle the error. * net: drop the weight argument from netif_napi_addJakub Kicinski2022-09-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | We tell driver developers to always pass NAPI_POLL_WEIGHT as the weight to netif_napi_add(). This may be confusing to newcomers, drop the weight argument, those who really need to tweak the weight can use netif_napi_add_weight(). * net: korina: Fix return type of korina_send_packetNathan Huckleberry2022-09-191-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The ndo_start_xmit field in net_device_ops is expected to be of type netdev_tx_t (*ndo_start_xmit)(struct sk_buff *skb, struct net_device *dev). The mismatched return type breaks forward edge kCFI since the underlying function definition does not match the function hook definition. The return type of korina_send_packet should be changed from int to netdev_tx_t. * dev_ioctl: split out ndo_eth_ioctlArnd Bergmann2021-07-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP. Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands. This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find their way through the implementation. | | | | | | | | | | When such interrupts occur there is not much we can do. Dropping the whole ring doesn't help and only produces high packet loss. If we just ignore the interrupt the mac will drop one or few packets instead of the whole ring. Also this will lower the irq handling load and increase performance. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit beb0babfb77e ("korina: disable napi on close and restart") introduced calls to napi_disable() that were missing before, unfortunately this leaves a small window during which NAPI has a chance to run, yet we just freed resources since korina_free_ring() has been called: Fix this by disabling NAPI first then freeing resource, and make sure that we also cancel the restart task before doing the resource freeing. * net: deprecate eth_change_mtu, remove usageJarod Wilson2016-10-131-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it. Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. It's now getting dev->max_mtu also set to 4096 to remedy that. v2: fix up lantiq_etop, missed breakage due to drive not compiling on x86 CC: netdev@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jarod Wilson <jarod@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S.
