Pull exit cleanups from Eric Biederman:
"While looking at some issues related to the exit path in the kernel I
found several instances where the code is not using the existing
abstractions properly.
This set of changes introduces force_fatal_sig a way of sending a
signal and not allowing it to be caught, and corrects the misuse of
the existing abstractions that I found.
A lot of the misuse of the existing abstractions are silly things such
as doing something after calling a no return function, rolling BUG by
hand, doing more work than necessary to terminate a kernel thread, or
calling do_exit(SIGKILL) instead of calling force_sig(SIGKILL).
In the review a deficiency in force_fatal_sig and force_sig_seccomp
where ptrace or sigaction could prevent the delivery of the signal was
found. I have added a change that adds SA_IMMUTABLE to change that
makes it impossible to interrupt the delivery of those signals, and
allows backporting to fix force_sig_seccomp
And Arnd found an issue where a function passed to kthread_run had the
wrong prototype, and after my cleanup was failing to build."

kernel thread can just return and do_exit will be called.
So just have rtw_cmd_thread and mp_xmit_packet_thread return instead
of calling complete_and_exit.

In 2009 Oleg reworked[1] the kernel threads so that it is not
necessary to call do_exit if you are not using kthread_stop(). Remove
the explicit calls of do_exit and complete_and_exit (with a NULL
completion) that were previously necessary.

It is possible that some performance excursions happened before OS boot
or enable HWP interrupts. So clear MSR_HWP_STATUS bits when we enable
HWP interrupt. In this way a next excursion will results in a HWP
interrupt.
The status bits of MSR_HWP_STATUS must be cleared (0) by software so
that a new status condition change will cause the hardware to set the
bit again and issue the notification.

It is possible that on some platforms HWP interrupts are disabled. In
that case accessing MSR 0x773 will result in warning.
So check X86_FEATURE_HWP_NOTIFY feature to access MSR 0x773. The other
places in code where this MSR is accessed, already checks this feature
except during disable path called during cpufreq offline and suspend
callbacks.

Commit a365ab6b9dfb ("cpufreq: intel_pstate: Implement the
->adjust_perf() callback") caused intel_pstate to use nonzero HWP
desired values in certain usage scenarios, but it did not prevent
them from being leaked into the confugirations in which HWP desired
is expected to be 0.
The failing scenarios are switching the driver from the passive
mode to the active mode and starting a new kernel via kexec() while
intel_pstate is running in the passive mode.
To address this issue, ensure that HWP desired will be cleared on
offline and suspend/shutdown.

EMC clock is always-on and can't be zero. Check whether clk_round_rate()
returns zero rate and error out if it does. It can return zero if clock
tree isn't initialized properly.

It is generally unsafe to call put_device() with dpm_list_mtx held,
because the given device's release routine may carry out an action
depending on that lock which then may deadlock, so modify the
system-wide suspend and resume of devices to always drop dpm_list_mtx
before calling put_device() (and adjust white space somewhat while
at it).

In the cpuidle-psci case, runtime PM in combination with the generic PM
domain (genpd), may be used when entering/exiting a shared idlestate. More
precisely, genpd relies on runtime PM to be enabled for the attached device
(in this case it belongs to a CPU), to properly manage the reference
counting of its PM domain.
This works fine most of the time, but during system suspend in
dpm_suspend_late(), the PM core disables runtime PM for all devices. Beyond
this point, calls to pm_runtime_get_sync() to runtime resume a device may
fail and therefore it could also mess up the reference counting in genpd.
To fix this problem, let's call wake_up_all_idle_cpus() in
dpm_suspend_late(), prior to disabling runtime PM. In this way a device
that belongs to a CPU, becomes runtime resumed through cpuidle-psci and
stays like that, because the runtime PM usage count has been bumped in
device_prepare().

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is a Cherry Trail based x86 tablet which does not
use the i915's driver backlight control support:
i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm:intel_panel_setup_backlight [i915]] no backlight present per VBT
Like all Cherry Trail devices the ACPI tables on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2
contain a broken ACPI-video implementation which causes 6 different
acpi_video backlights to get registered when used.
The lack of the i915 driver registering a BACKLIGHT_RAW (aka native) type
backlight causes acpi_video_get_backlight_type() to pick the broken
acpi_video backlight code as the backlight driver to use.
There actually is a separate lp8556 backlight controller connected
over I2C which gets registered as a BACKLIGHT_PLATFORM (aka vendor).
Add a quirk to force acpi_video_get_backlight_type() to return
acpi_backlight_vendor, so that the broken acpi_video backlight
interfaces do not get registered.

The .ident field of the dmi_system_id structs in the
video_detect_dmi_table[] is not used by the code.
Change all .ident = "..." assignments to comments, this reduces the
size of video_detect.o / video.ko by about 1500 bytes.

The handling of PMIC register reads through writing 0 to address 4
of the OpRegion is wrong. Instead of returning the read value
through the value64, which is a no-op for function == ACPI_WRITE calls,
store the value and then on a subsequent function == ACPI_READ with
address == 3 (the address for the value field of the OpRegion)
return the stored value.
This has been tested on a Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 and makes the ACPI battery dev
there mostly functional (unfortunately there are still other issues).

EC interrupts constantly wake up system from s2idle, so set

In certain use cases (where the chip is part of a camera module, and the
camera module is wired together with a camera privacy LED), powering on
the device during probe is undesirable. Add support for the at24 to
execute probe while being in ACPI D state other than 0 (which means fully
powered on).

Add a convenience function to tell whether a device is in D0 state,
primarily for use in drivers' probe or remove functions on busses where
the custom is to power on the device for the duration of both.
Returns false on non-ACPI systems.

Enable drivers to tell ACPI that there's no need to power on a device for
probe. Drivers should still perform this by themselves if there's a need
to. In some cases powering on the device during probe is undesirable, and
this change enables a driver to choose what fits best for it.
Add a field called "flags" into struct i2c_driver for driver flags, and a
flag I2C_DRV_ACPI_WAIVE_D0_PROBE to tell a driver supports probe in ACPI D
states other than 0.

udma_get_*() checks if rchan/tchan/rflow is already allocated by checking
if it has a NON NULL value. For the error cases, rchan/tchan/rflow will
have error value and udma_get_*() considers this as already allocated
(PASS) since the error values are NON NULL. This results in NULL pointer
dereference error while de-referencing rchan/tchan/rflow.
Reset the value of rchan/tchan/rflow to NULL if a channel request fails.

bcdma_get_*() checks if bchan is already allocated by checking if it

Using the % operator on a 64-bit variable is expensive and can

As we know that we just want to check the alignment in
stm32_dma_get_max_width(), there is no need for a full division, and
using a simple mask is a faster replacement.
Same in stm32_dma_set_xfer_param(), change this to only allow burst
transfers if the address is a multiple of the length.
stm32_dma_get_best_burst just after will take buf_len into account to fix
burst in case of misalignment.

Add memcpy in edma. The edma has the capability to transfer data by
software trigger so that it could be used for memory copy. Enable
MEMCPY for edma driver and it could be test directly by dmatest.

The wq resources needs to be released before the kernel type is reset by
__drv_disable_wq(). With dma channels unregistered and wq quiesced, all the
wq resources for dmaengine can be freed. There is no need to wait until wq
is disabled. With the wq->type being reset to "unknown", the driver is
skipping the freeing of the resources.

According to core-api/dma-api-howto.rst, the address from
dma_alloc_coherent is gauranteed to align to the smallest PAGE_SIZE order.
That supercedes the 64B/32B alignment requirement of the completion record.
Remove alignment adjustment code.

`dmaengine_desc_callback_invoke()`. This makes sure that both types of
callbacks are handled correctly.
The zynqmp_dma driver currently doesn't do this and only handles the
`callback` type callback. If the client used the `callback_result` type
callback it will not be called.
Fix this by switching to `dmaengine_desc_callback_valid()` and
`dmaengine_desc_callback_invoke()`.
