| | | | | | | Fix endianity. Make hpfs work on big-endian machines. Signed-off-by: Mikulas Patocka <mikulas@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* HPFS: Remove CR/LF conversion optionMikulas Patocka2011-05-091-11/+0
| | | | | | | | | Remove CR/LF conversion option It is unused anyway. It was used on 2.2 kernels or so. Signed-off-by: Mikulas Patocka <mikulas@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* HPFS: Remove remaining locksMikulas Patocka2011-05-091-9/+3
| | | | | | | | | Remove remaining locks Because of a new global per-fs lock, no other locks are needed Signed-off-by: Mikulas Patocka <mikulas@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* HPFS: Introduce a global mutex and lock it on every callback from VFS.Mikulas Patocka2011-05-091-9/+15
| | | | | | | | | | Introduce a global mutex and lock it on every callback from VFS. Performance doesn't matter, reviewing the whole code for locking correctness would be too complicated, so simply lock it all. * hpfs: remove the BKLArnd Bergmann2011-03-021-0/+22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This removes the BKL in hpfs in a rather awful way, by making the code only work on uniprocessor systems without kernel preemption, as suggested by Andi Kleen. The HPFS code probably has close to zero remaining users on current kernels, all archeological uses of the file system can probably be done with the significant restrictions. The hpfs_lock/hpfs_unlock functions are left in the code, sincen Mikulas has indicated that he is still interested in fixing it in a better way. | | | | | | | | | | | | sbi->hpfs_creation_de is used as mutex so make it a mutex. * headers: smp_lock.h reduxAlexey Dobriyan2009-07-121-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | * Remove smp_lock.h from files which don't need it (including some headers!) * Add smp_lock.h to files which do need it * Make smp_lock.h include conditional in hardirq.h It's needed only for one kernel_locked() usage which is under CONFIG_PREEMPT This will make hardirq.h inclusion cheaper for every PREEMPT=n config (which includes allmodconfig/allyesconfig, BTW) Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* [PATCH] hpfs: cleanup ->setattrChristoph Hellwig2008-10-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Reformat hpfs_notify_change to standard kernel style to make it readable and rename it to hpfs_setattr as that's what the method is called. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* [PATCH] mark struct inode_operations const 2Arjan van de Ven2007-02-121-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Many struct inode_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. * [PATCH] hpfs: bring hpfs_error() into shapeAlexey Dobriyan2006-12-071-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - switch to error message buffer in .bss - missing va_end() (htf it worked before?) - use vsnprintf() - rename variables to understandable "fmt", "args". - "const char *fmt", yes. - add __attribute__((format ... Still, put that coffee down before reading more. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

* [PATCH] mark address_space_operations constChristoph Hellwig2006-06-281-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | Same as with already do with the file operations: keep them in .rodata and prevents people from doing runtime patching. * [PATCH] Make most file operations structs in fs/ constArjan van de Ven2006-03-281-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a conversion to make the various file_operations structs in fs/ const. Basically a regexp job, with a few manual fixups The goal is both to increase correctness (harder to accidentally write to shared datastructures) and reducing the false sharing of cachelines with things that get dirty in .data (while .rodata is nicely read only and thus cache clean) Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven <arjan@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] sem2mutex: HPFSIngo Molnar2006-03-231-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | Semaphore to mutex conversion. The conversion was generated via scripts, and the result was validated automatically via a script as well. Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
