* ktime: introduce ktime_to_ms()Chuck Lever2010-05-141-2/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | To report ktime statistics to user space in milliseconds, a new helper is required. When considering how to do this conversion, I didn't immediately see why the extra step of converting ktime to a timeval was needed. To make that more clear, introduce a couple of large comments. * hrtimer: check relative timeouts for overflowThomas Gleixner2008-02-141-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Various user space callers ask for relative timeouts. While we fixed that overflow issue in hrtimer_start(), the sites which convert relative user space values to absolute timeouts themself were uncovered. Instead of putting overflow checks into each place add a function which does the sanity checking and convert all affected callers to use it. Thanks to Frans Pop, who reported the problem and tested the fixes. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Acked-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Tested-by: Frans Pop <elendil@planet.nl>
* Fix compilation of powerpc asm-offsets.c with old gccTony Breeds2008-02-071-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit ad7f71674ad7c3c4467e48f6ab9e85516dae2720 ("[POWERPC] Use a sensible default for clock_getres() in the VDSO") corrected the clock resolution reported by the VDSO clock_getres() but introduced another problem in that older versions of gcc (gcc-4.0 and earlier) fail to compile the new code in arch/powerpc/kernel/asm-offsets.c. This fixes it by introducing a new MONOTONIC_RES_NSEC define in the generic code which is equivalent to KTIME_MONOTONIC_RES but is just an integer constant, not a ktime union. * [KTIME]: Introduce ktime_us_deltaGerrit Renker2007-07-101-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | This provides a reusable time difference function which returns the difference in microseconds, as often used in the DCCP code. * [TCP]: Congestion control API RTT sampling fixIlpo Järvinen2007-06-151-0/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit 164891aadf1721fca4dce473bb0e0998181537c6 broke RTT sampling of congestion control modules. Inaccurate timestamps could be fed to them without providing any way for them to identify such cases. Previously RTT sampler was called only if FLAG_RETRANS_DATA_ACKED was not set filtering inaccurate timestamps nicely. In addition, the new behavior could give an invalid timestamp (zero) to RTT sampler if only skbs with TCPCB_RETRANS were ACKed. This solves both problems. * declare struct ktimeAndrew Morton2007-05-091-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some smarty went and inflicted ktime_t as a typedef upon us, so we cannot forward declare it. Create a new `union ktime', map ktime_t onto that. Now we need to kill off this ktime_t thing. * [PATCH] ktime: Fix signed / unsigned mismatch in ktime_to_nsThomas Gleixner2006-12-071-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | The 32 bit implementation of ktime_to_ns returns unsigned value, while the 64 bit version correctly returns an signed value. There is no current user affected by this, but it has to be fixed, as ktime values can be negative. * [PATCH] prevent timespec/timeval to ktime_t overflowThomas Gleixner2006-09-061-1/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Frank v. Waveren pointed out that on 64bit machines the timespec to ktime_t conversion might overflow. This is also true for timeval to ktime_t conversions. This breaks a "sleep inf" on 64bit machines. While a timespec/timeval with tx.sec = MAX_LONG is valid by specification the internal representation of ktime_t is based on nanoseconds. The conversion of seconds to nanoseconds overflows for seconds values >= (MAX_LONG / NSEC_PER_SEC). Check the seconds argument to the conversion and limit it to the maximum time which can be represented by ktime_t. * [PATCH] hrtimer: introduce ktime_t time formatThomas Gleixner2006-01-101-0/+269
