* batman-adv: Use parentheses in function kernel-docSven Eckelmann2017-12-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | The documentation describing kernel-doc comments for functions ("How to format kernel-doc comments") uses parentheses at the end of the function name. Using this format allows to use a consistent style when adding documentation to a function and when referencing this function in a different kernel-doc section. * batman-adv: Add SPDX license identifier above copyright headerSven Eckelmann2017-12-151-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The "Linux kernel licensing rules" require that each file has a SPDX license identifier as first line (and sometimes as second line). The FSFE REUSE practices [1] would also require the same tags but have no restrictions on the placement in the source file. Using the "Linux kernel licensing rules" is therefore also fulfilling the FSFE REUSE practices requirements at the same time. * batman-adv: Consolidate logging related functionsSven Eckelmann2016-06-301-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | There are several places in batman-adv which provide logging related functions. These should be grouped together in the log.* files to make them easier to find. * batman-adv: Use bool as return type for boolean functionsSven Eckelmann2016-05-101-8/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | It is easier to understand that the returned value of a specific function doesn't have to be 0 when the functions was successful when the actual return type is bool. This is especially true when all surrounding functions with return type int use negative values to return the error code. * batman-adv: Replace C99 int types with kernel typeSven Eckelmann2015-08-251-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | (s|u)(8|16|32|64) are the preferred types in the kernel. The use of the standard C99 types u?int(8|16|32|64)_t are objected by some people and even checkpatch now warns about using them. * batman-adv: Add required includes to all filesSven Eckelmann2015-06-071-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The header files could not be build indepdent from each other. This is happened because headers didn't include the files for things they've used. This was problematic because the success of a build depended on the knowledge about the right order of local includes. Also source files were not including everything they've used explicitly. Instead they required that transitive includes are always stable. This is problematic because some transitive includes are not obvious, depend on config settings and may not be stable in the future. The order for include blocks are: * primary headers (main.h and the *.h file of a *.c file) * global linux headers * required local headers * extra forward declarations for pointers in function/struct declarations The only exceptions are linux/bitops.h and linux/if_ether.h in packet.h. This header file is shared with userspace applications like batctl and must therefore build together with userspace applications. The header linux/bitops.h is not part of the uapi headers and linux/if_ether.h conflicts with the musl implementation of netinet/if_ether.h. The maintainers rejected the use of __KERNEL__ preprocessor checks and thus these two headers are only in main.h. All files using packet.h first have to include main.h to work correctly. * batman-adv: remove FSF address from GPL disclaimerAntonio Quartulli2014-01-081-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | As suggested by checkpatch, remove all the references to the FSF address since the kernel already has one reference in its documentation. In this way it is easier to update it in case of future changes. Signed-off-by: Antonio Quartulli <antonio@meshcoding.com> Signed-off-by: Marek Lindner <mareklindner@neomailbox.ch>

* batman-adv: Remove extra check in batadv_bit_get_packetSven Eckelmann2012-10-291-13/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | batadv_bit_get_packet checks for all common situations before it decides that the new received packet indicates that the host was restarted. This extra condition check at the end of the function is not necessary because this condition is always true. This patch addresses Coverity #712296: Logically dead code Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org> Signed-off-by: Antonio Quartulli <ordex@autistici.org>

* batman-adv: Prefix main static inline functions with batadv_Sven Eckelmann2012-06-251-5/+5
| | | | | | | | All non-static symbols of batman-adv were prefixed with batadv_ to avoid collisions with other symbols of the kernel. Other symbols of batman-adv should use the same prefix to keep the naming scheme consistent. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
* batman-adv: Prefix bitarray static inline functions with batadv_Sven Eckelmann2012-06-241-4/+4

* batman-adv: Reformat multiline comments to consistent styleSven Eckelmann2012-06-201-10/+7
| | | | | | | | batman-adv doesn't follow the style for multiline comments that David S. Miller prefers. All comments should be reformatted to follow this consistent style to make the code slightly more readable. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
* batman-adv: Prefix bitarray non-static functions with batadv_Sven Eckelmann2012-06-201-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | batman-adv can be compiled as part of the kernel instead of an module. In that case the linker will see all non-static symbols of batman-adv and all other non-static symbols of the kernel. This could lead to symbol collisions. A prefix for the batman-adv symbols that defines their private namespace avoids such a problem. Reported-by: David Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
* batman-adv: Replace bitarray operations with bitmapSven Eckelmann2012-04-111-109/+9
| | | | | | | | | bitarray.c consists mostly of functionality that is already available as part of the standard kernel API. batman-adv could use architecture optimized code and reduce the binary size by switching to the standard functions. * batman-adv: Fix range check for expected packetsSimon Wunderlich2011-11-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The check for new packets in the future used a wrong binary operator, which makes the check expression always true and accepting too many packets. * batman-adv: Reduce usage of charSven Eckelmann2011-06-201-2/+2
| | | | | | | | char was used in different places to store information without really using the characteristics of that data type or by ignoring the fact that char has not a well defined signedness. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
* batman-adv: count_real_packets() in batman-adv assumes char is signedDavid Howells2011-06-201-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | count_real_packets() in batman-adv assumes char is signed, and returns -1 through it: net/batman-adv/routing.c: In function 'receive_bat_packet': net/batman-adv/routing.c:739: warning: comparison is always false due to limited range of data type Use int instead. * batman-adv: Remove explicit casts cast from void* for storeSven Eckelmann2011-05-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | It is not necessary to cast a void* to the pointer type when we just store it and don't want to do pointer arithmetic before the actual assignment. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
* batman-adv: Add const type qualifier for pointersSven Eckelmann2011-05-301-2/+2
| | | | | | | | batman-adv uses pointers which are marked as const and should not violate that type qualifier by passing it to functions which force a cast to the non-const version. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
