[ Upstream commit 44c06bbde6443de206b30f513100b5670b23fc5e ]
The ieee80211_sta_ps_deliver_wakeup() function takes sta->ps_lock to
synchronizes with ieee80211_tx_h_unicast_ps_buf() which is called from
softirq context. However using only spin_lock() to get sta->ps_lock in
ieee80211_sta_ps_deliver_wakeup() does not prevent softirq to execute
on this same CPU, to run ieee80211_tx_h_unicast_ps_buf() and try to
take this same lock ending in deadlock. Below is an example of rcu stall
that arises in such situation.

Using spin_lock_bh()/spin_unlock_bh() instead prevents softirq to raise

[ Upstream commit b7d7f11a291830fdf69d3301075dd0fb347ced84 ]
The hwmp code use objects of type mesh_preq_queue, added to a list in
ieee80211_if_mesh, to keep track of mpath we need to resolve. If the mpath
gets deleted, ex mesh interface is removed, the entries in that list will
never get cleaned. Fix this by flushing all corresponding items of the
preq_queue in mesh_path_flush_pending().
This should take care of KASAN reports like this:

commit 4f2bdb3c5e3189297e156b3ff84b140423d64685 upstream.
When moving a station out of a VLAN and deleting the VLAN afterwards, the
fast_rx entry still holds a pointer to the VLAN's netdev, which can cause
use-after-free bugs. Fix this by immediately calling ieee80211_check_fast_rx
after the VLAN change.

fast-xmit must only be enabled after the sta has been uploaded to the driver,
otherwise it could end up passing the not-yet-uploaded sta via drv_tx calls
to the driver, leading to potential crashes because of uninitialized drv_priv
data.
Add a missing sta->uploaded check and re-check fast xmit after inserting a sta.

[ Upstream commit 61304336c67358d49a989e5e0060d8c99bad6ca8 ]
Lower layer device driver stop/wake TX by calling ieee80211_stop_queue()/
ieee80211_wake_queue() while hw scan. Sometimes hw scan and PTK rekey are
running in parallel, when M4 sent from wpa_supplicant arrive while the TX
queue is stopped, then the M4 will pending send, and then new key install
from wpa_supplicant. After TX queue wake up by lower layer device driver,
the M4 will be dropped by below call stack.
When key install started, the current key flag is set KEY_FLAG_TAINTED in
ieee80211_pairwise_rekey(), and then mac80211 wait key install complete by
lower layer device driver. Meanwhile ieee80211_tx_h_select_key() will return
TX_DROP for the M4 in step 12 below, and then ieee80211_free_txskb() called
by ieee80211_tx_dequeue(), so the M4 will not send and free, then the rekey
process failed becaue AP not receive M4. Please see details in steps below.
There are a interval between KEY_FLAG_TAINTED set for current key flag and
install key complete by lower layer device driver, the KEY_FLAG_TAINTED is
set in this interval, all packet including M4 will be dropped in this
interval, the interval is step 8~13 as below.
issue steps:
TX thread install key thread
1. stop_queue -idle-
2. sending M4 -idle-
3. M4 pending -idle-
4. -idle- starting install key from wpa_supplicant
5. -idle- =>ieee80211_key_replace()
6. -idle- =>ieee80211_pairwise_rekey() and set
currently key->flags |= KEY_FLAG_TAINTED
7. -idle- =>ieee80211_key_enable_hw_accel()
8. -idle- =>drv_set_key() and waiting key install
complete from lower layer device driver
9. wake_queue -waiting state-
10. re-sending M4 -waiting state-
11. =>ieee80211_tx_h_select_key() -waiting state-
12. drop M4 by KEY_FLAG_TAINTED -waiting state-
13. -idle- install key complete with success/fail
success: clear flag KEY_FLAG_TAINTED
fail: start disconnect
Hence add check in step 11 above to allow the EAPOL send out in the
interval. If lower layer device driver use the old key/cipher to encrypt
the M4, then AP received/decrypt M4 correctly, after M4 send out, lower
layer device driver install the new key/cipher to hardware and return
success.
If lower layer device driver use new key/cipher to send the M4, then AP
will/should drop the M4, then it is same result with this issue, AP will/
should kick out station as well as this issue.

commit 8b5cb7e41d9d77ffca036b0239177de123394a55 upstream.
Syzbot hit NULL deref in rhashtable_free_and_destroy(). The problem was
in mesh_paths and mpp_paths being NULL.
mesh_pathtbl_init() could fail in case of memory allocation failure, but
nobody cared, since ieee80211_mesh_init_sdata() returns void. It led to
leaving 2 pointers as NULL. Syzbot has found null deref on exit path,
but it could happen anywhere else, because code assumes these pointers are
valid.
Since all ieee80211_*_setup_sdata functions are void and do not fail,
let's embedd mesh_paths and mpp_paths into parent struct to avoid
adding error handling on higher levels and follow the pattern of others
setup_sdata functions

From 'IEEE Std 802.11-2020 section 11.8.8.4.1':
The mesh channel switch may be triggered by the need to avoid
interference to a detected radar signal, or to reassign mesh STA
channels to ensure the MBSS connectivity.
A 20/40 MHz MBSS may be changed to a 20 MHz MBSS and a 20 MHz
MBSS may be changed to a 20/40 MHz MBSS.
Since the standard allows the change of bandwidth during
the channel switch in mesh, remove the bandwidth check present in

ieee80211_scan_rx() tries to access scan_req->flags after a
null check, but a UAF is observed when the scan is completed
and __ieee80211_scan_completed() executes, which then calls
cfg80211_scan_done() leading to the freeing of scan_req.
Since scan_req is rcu_dereference()'d, prevent the racing in
__ieee80211_scan_completed() by ensuring that from mac80211's
POV it is no longer accessed from an RCU read critical section
before we call cfg80211_scan_done().

commit 15bc8966b6d3a5b9bfe4c9facfa02f2b69b1e5f0 upstream.
When we are not connected to a channel, sending channel "switch"
announcement doesn't make any sense.
The BSS list is empty in that case. This causes the for loop in
cfg80211_get_bss() to be bypassed, so the function returns NULL
(check line 1424 of net/wireless/scan.c), causing the WARN_ON()
in ieee80211_ibss_csa_beacon() to get triggered (check line 500
of net/mac80211/ibss.c), which was consequently reported on the
syzkaller dashboard.
Thus, check if we have an existing connection before generating
the CSA beacon in ieee80211_ibss_finish_csa().

commit 2965c4cdf7ad9ce0796fac5e57debb9519ea721e upstream.
In ieee80211_vif_use_reserved_context(), when we have an
old context and the new context's replace_state is set to
IEEE80211_CHANCTX_REPLACE_NONE, we free the old context
in ieee80211_vif_use_reserved_reassign(). Therefore, we
cannot check the old_ctx anymore, so we should set it to
NULL after this point.
However, since the new_ctx replace state is clearly not
IEEE80211_CHANCTX_REPLACES_OTHER, we're not going to do
anything else in this function and can just return to
avoid accessing the freed old_ctx.

commit 4a2d4496e15ea5bb5c8e83b94ca8ca7fb045e7d3 upstream.
While commit 6a01afcf8468 ("mac80211: mesh: Free ie data when leaving
mesh") fixed a memory leak on mesh leave / teardown it introduced a
potential memory corruption caused by a double free when rejoining the
mesh:
ieee80211_leave_mesh()
-> kfree(sdata->u.mesh.ie);
...
ieee80211_join_mesh()
-> copy_mesh_setup()
-> old_ie = ifmsh->ie;
-> kfree(old_ie);
This double free / kernel panics can be reproduced by using wpa_supplicant
with an encrypted mesh (if set up without encryption via "iw" then
ifmsh->ie is always NULL, which avoids this issue). And then calling:
$ iw dev mesh0 mesh leave
$ iw dev mesh0 mesh join my-mesh
Note that typically these commands are not used / working when using
wpa_supplicant. And it seems that wpa_supplicant or wpa_cli are going
through a NETDEV_DOWN/NETDEV_UP cycle between a mesh leave and mesh join
where the NETDEV_UP resets the mesh.ie to NULL via a memcpy of
default_mesh_setup in cfg80211_netdev_notifier_call, which then avoids
the memory corruption, too.
The issue was first observed in an application which was not using
wpa_supplicant but "Senf" instead, which implements its own calls to
nl80211.
Fixing the issue by removing the kfree()'ing of the mesh IE in the mesh
join function and leaving it solely up to the mesh leave to free the
mesh IE.

commit 859ae7018316daa4adbc496012dcbbb458d7e510 upstream.
There are two problems with the current code that have been highlighted
with the AQL feature that is now enbaled by default.
First problem is in ieee80211_rx_h_mesh_fwding(),
ieee80211_select_queue_80211() is used on received packets to choose
the sending AC queue of the forwarding packet although this function
should only be called on TX packet (it uses ieee80211_tx_info).
This ends with forwarded mesh packets been sent on unrelated random AC
queue. To fix that, AC queue can directly be infered from skb->priority
which has been extracted from QOS info (see ieee80211_parse_qos()).
Second problem is the value of queue_mapping set on forwarded mesh
frames via skb_set_queue_mapping() is not the AC of the packet but a
hardware queue index. This may or may not work depending on AC to HW
queue mapping which is driver specific.
Both of these issues lead to improper AC selection while forwarding
mesh packets but more importantly due to improper airtime accounting
(which is done on a per STA, per AC basis) caused traffic stall with
the introduction of AQL.

commit 1fe98f5690c4219d419ea9cc190f94b3401cf324 upstream.
Sending them out on a different queue can cause a race condition where a
number of packets in the queue may be discarded by the receiver, because
the ADDBA request is sent too early.
This affects any driver with software A-MPDU setup which does not allocate
packet seqno in hardware on tx, regardless of whether iTXQ is used or not.
The only driver I've seen that explicitly deals with this issue internally
is mwl8k.

[ Upstream commit fe94bac626d9c1c5bc98ab32707be8a9d7f8adba ]
In ieee80211_amsdu_aggregate() set a pointer frag_tail point to the
end of skb_shinfo(head)->frag_list, and use it to bind other skb in
the end of this function. But when execute ieee80211_amsdu_aggregate()
->ieee80211_amsdu_realloc_pad()->pskb_expand_head(), the address of
skb_shinfo(head)->frag_list will be changed. However, the
ieee80211_amsdu_aggregate() not update frag_tail after call
pskb_expand_head(). That will cause the second skb can't bind to the
head skb appropriately.So we update the address of frag_tail to fix it.

commit 94513069eb549737bcfc3d988d6ed4da948a2de8 upstream.
When PN checking is done in mac80211, for fragmentation we need
to copy the PN to the RX struct so we can later use it to do a
comparison, since commit bf30ca922a0c ("mac80211: check defrag
PN against current frame").
Unfortunately, in that commit I used the 'hdr' variable without
it being necessarily valid, so use-after-free could occur if it
was necessary to reallocate (parts of) the frame.
Fix this by reloading the variable after the code that results
in the reallocations, if any.
This fixes https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214401.

commit a0761a301746ec2d92d7fcb82af69c0a6a4339aa upstream.
If we know that we have an encrypted link (based on having had
a key configured for TX in the past) then drop all data frames
in the key selection handler if there's no key anymore.
This fixes an issue with mac80211 internal TXQs - there we can
buffer frames for an encrypted link, but then if the key is no
longer there when they're dequeued, the frames are sent without
encryption. This happens if a station is disconnected while the
frames are still on the TXQ.
Detecting that a link should be encrypted based on a first key
having been configured for TX is fine as there are no use cases
for a connection going from with encryption to no encryption.
With extended key IDs, however, there is a case of having a key
configured for only decryption, so we can't just trigger this
behaviour on a key being configured.

commit 3edc6b0d6c061a70d8ca3c3c72eb1f58ce29bfb1 upstream.
For some chips/drivers, e.g., QCA6174 with ath10k, the decryption is
done by the hardware, and the Protected bit in the Frame Control field
is cleared in the lower level driver before the frame is passed to
mac80211. In such cases, the condition for ieee80211_has_protected() is
not met in ieee80211_rx_h_defragment() of mac80211 and the new security
validation steps are not executed.
Extend mac80211 to cover the case where the Protected bit has been
cleared, but the frame is indicated as having been decrypted by the
hardware. This extends protection against mixed key and fragment cache
attack for additional drivers/chips. This fixes CVE-2020-24586 and
CVE-2020-24587 for such cases.

commit a8c4d76a8dd4fb9666fc8919a703d85fb8f44ed8 upstream.
EAPOL frames are used for authentication and key management between the
AP and each individual STA associated in the BSS. Those frames are not
supposed to be sent by one associated STA to another associated STA
(either unicast for broadcast/multicast).
Similarly, in 802.11 they're supposed to be sent to the authenticator
(AP) address.
Since it is possible for unexpected EAPOL frames to result in misbehavior
in supplicant implementations, it is better for the AP to not allow such
cases to be forwarded to other clients either directly, or indirectly if
the AP interface is part of a bridge.
Accept EAPOL (control port) frames only if they're transmitted to the
own address, or, due to interoperability concerns, to the PAE group
address.
Disable forwarding of EAPOL (or well, the configured control port
protocol) frames back to wireless medium in all cases. Previously, these
frames were accepted from fully authenticated and authorized stations
and also from unauthenticated stations for one of the cases.
Additionally, to avoid forwarding by the bridge, rewrite the PAE group
address case to the local MAC address.

commit 7e44a0b597f04e67eee8cdcbe7ee706c6f5de38b upstream.
Similar to the issues fixed in previous patches, TKIP and WEP
should be protected even if for TKIP we have the Michael MIC
protecting it, and WEP is broken anyway.
However, this also somewhat protects potential other algorithms

commit bf30ca922a0c0176007e074b0acc77ed345e9990 upstream.
As pointed out by Mathy Vanhoef, we implement the RX PN check
on fragmented frames incorrectly - we check against the last
received PN prior to the new frame, rather than to the one in
this frame itself.
Prior patches addressed the security issue here, but in order
to be able to reason better about the code, fix it to really
compare against the current frame's PN, not the last stored
one.

commit 3a11ce08c45b50d69c891d71760b7c5b92074709 upstream.
Prior patches protected against fragmentation cache attacks
by coloring keys, but this shows that it can lead to issues
when multiple stations use the same sequence number. Add a
fragment cache to struct sta_info (in addition to the one in
the interface) to separate fragments for different stations
properly.
This then automatically clear most of the fragment cache when a
station disconnects (or reassociates) from an AP, or when client
interfaces disconnect from the network, etc.
On the way, also fix the comment there since this brings us in line
with the recommendation in 802.11-2016 ("An AP should support ...").
Additionally, remove a useless condition (since there's no problem
purging an already empty list).

commit 270032a2a9c4535799736142e1e7c413ca7b836e upstream.
With old ciphers (WEP and TKIP) we shouldn't be using A-MSDUs
since A-MSDUs are only supported if we know that they are, and
the only practical way for that is HT support which doesn't
support old ciphers.
However, we would normally accept them anyway. Since we check
the MMIC before deaggregating A-MSDUs, and the A-MSDU bit in
the QoS header is not protected in TKIP (or WEP), this enables
attacks similar to CVE-2020-24588. To prevent that, drop A-MSDUs
completely with old ciphers.

commit 94034c40ab4a3fcf581fbc7f8fdf4e29943c4a24 upstream.
Simultaneously prevent mixed key attacks (CVE-2020-24587) and fragment
cache attacks (CVE-2020-24586). This is accomplished by assigning a
unique color to every key (per interface) and using this to track which
key was used to decrypt a fragment. When reassembling frames, it is
now checked whether all fragments were decrypted using the same key.
To assure that fragment cache attacks are also prevented, the ID that is
assigned to keys is unique even over (re)associations and (re)connects.
This means fragments separated by a (re)association or (re)connect will
not be reassembled. Because mac80211 now also prevents the reassembly of
mixed encrypted and plaintext fragments, all cache attacks are prevented.

commit 965a7d72e798eb7af0aa67210e37cf7ecd1c9cad upstream.
Do not mix plaintext and encrypted fragments in protected Wi-Fi
networks. This fixes CVE-2020-26147.
Previously, an attacker was able to first forward a legitimate encrypted
fragment towards a victim, followed by a plaintext fragment. The
encrypted and plaintext fragment would then be reassembled. For further
details see Section 6.3 and Appendix D in the paper "Fragment and Forge:
Breaking Wi-Fi Through Frame Aggregation and Fragmentation".
Because of this change there are now two equivalent conditions in the
code to determine if a received fragment requires sequential PNs, so we
also move this test to a separate function to make the code easier to
maintain.

[ Upstream commit d6843d1ee283137723b4a8c76244607ce6db1951 ]
After channel switch, we should consider any beacon with a
CSA IE as a new switch. If the CSA IE is a leftover from
before the switch that the AP forgot to remove, we'll get
a CSA-to-Self.
This caused issues in iwlwifi where the firmware saw a beacon
with a CSA-to-Self with mode = 1 on the new channel after a
switch. The firmware considered this a new switch and closed
its queues. Since the beacon didn't change between before and
after the switch, we wouldn't handle it (the CRC is the same)
and we wouldn't let the firmware open its queues again or
disconnect if the CSA IE stays for too long.
Clear the CRC valid state after we switch to make sure that
we handle the beacon and handle the CSA IE as required.

If any of the cipher schemes specified by the driver are invalid, bail
out and fail the registration rather than just warning. Otherwise, we
might later crash when we try to use the invalid cipher scheme, e.g.
if the hdr_len is (significantly) less than the pn_offs + pn_len, we'd
have an out-of-bounds access in RX validation.

[ Upstream commit dd0b45538146cb6a54d6da7663b8c3afd16ebcfd ]
In some race conditions, with more clients and traffic configuration,
below crash is seen when making the interface down. sta->fast_rx wasn't
cleared when STA gets removed from 4-addr AP_VLAN interface. The crash is
due to try accessing 4-addr AP_VLAN interface's net_device (fast_rx->dev)
which has been deleted already.
Resolve this by clearing sta->fast_rx pointer when STA removes
from a 4-addr VLAN.

Even if the first channel from sband channel list is invalid
or disabled mac80211 ends up choosing it as the default channel
for monitor interfaces, making them not usable.
Fix this by assigning the first available valid or enabled
channel instead.

[ Upstream commit 1944015fe9c1d9fa5e9eb7ffbbb5ef8954d6753b ]
Coverity reported the strange "if (~...)" condition that's
always true. It suggested that ! was intended instead of ~,
but upon further analysis I'm convinced that what really was
intended was a comparison to 0xff/0xffff (in HT/VHT cases
respectively), since this indicates that all of the rates
are enabled.
Change the comparison accordingly.
I'm guessing this never really mattered because a reset to
not having a rate mask is basically equivalent to having a
mask that enables all rates.
