In summary, this patch solves those use-after-free by
1. Re-implement the nfc_llcp_find_local(). The current version does not
grab the reference when getting the local from the linked list. For
example, the llcp_sock_bind() gets the reference like below:

There is an apparent race window that one can drop the reference
and free the local object fetched in (A) before (B) gets the reference.
2. Some callers of the nfc_llcp_find_local() do not grab the reference
at all. For example, the nfc_genl_llc_{{get/set}_params/sdreq} functions.
We add the nfc_llcp_local_put() for them. Moreover, we add the necessary
error handling function to put the reference.
3. Add the nfc_llcp_remove_local() helper. The local object is removed
from the linked list in local_release() when all reference is gone. This
patch removes it when nfc_llcp_unregister_device() is called.
Therefore, every caller of nfc_llcp_find_local() will get a reference
even when the nfc_llcp_unregister_device() is called. This promises no
use-after-free for the local object is ever possible.

cb_context should be freed on the error path in nfc_se_io as stated by
commit 25ff6f8a5a3b ("nfc: fix memory leak of se_io context in
nfc_genl_se_io").
Make the error path in nfc_se_io unwind everything in reverse order, i.e.
free the cb_context after unlocking the device.

The callback context for sending/receiving APDUs to/from the selected
secure element is allocated inside nfc_genl_se_io and supposed to be
eventually freed in se_io_cb callback function. However, there are several
error paths where the bwi_timer is not charged to call se_io_cb later, and
the cb_context is leaked.
The patch proposes to free the cb_context explicitly on those error paths.
At the moment we can't simply check 'dev->ops->se_io()' return value as it
may be negative in both cases: when the timer was charged and was not.

Fix a use-after-free that occurs in kfree_skb() called from
local_cleanup(). This could happen when killing nfc daemon (e.g. neard)
after detaching an nfc device.
When detaching an nfc device, local_cleanup() called from
nfc_llcp_unregister_device() frees local->rx_pending and decreases
local->ref by kref_put() in nfc_llcp_local_put().
In the terminating process, nfc daemon releases all sockets and it leads
to decreasing local->ref. After the last release of local->ref,
local_cleanup() called from local_release() frees local->rx_pending
again, which leads to the bug.
Setting local->rx_pending to NULL in local_cleanup() could prevent
use-after-free when local_cleanup() is called twice.
Found by a modified version of syzkaller.

In nci_rx_data_packet(), if we don't get a valid conn_info, we will return

Previously we leverage NCI_UNREG and the lock inside nci_close_device to
prevent the race condition between opening a device and closing a
device. However, it still has problem because a failed opening command
will erase the NCI_UNREG flag and allow another opening command to
bypass the status checking.
This fix corrects that by making sure the NCI_UNREG is held.

Add remote KCOV annotations for NFC processing that is done
in background threads. This enables efficient coverage-guided
fuzzing of the NFC subsystem.
The intention is to add annotations to background threads that
process skb's that were allocated in syscall context
(thus have a KCOV handle associated with the current fuzz test).
This includes nci_recv_frame() that is called by the virtual nci
driver in the syscall context.

To work around a misbehavior of the compiler's ability to see into
composite flexible array structs (as detailed in the coming memcpy()
hardening series[1]), split the memcpy() of the header and the payload
so no false positive run-time overflow warning will be generated. This
split already existed for the "firstfrag" case, so just generalize the
logic further.

We had historically not checked that genlmsghdr.reserved
is 0 on input which prevents us from using those precious
bytes in the future.
One use case would be to extend the cmd field, which is
currently just 8 bits wide and 256 is not a lot of commands
for some core families.
To make sure that new families do the right thing by default
put the onus of opting out of validation on existing families.

The nlmsg_new with GFP_KERNEL parameter may sleep during memory
allocation process, and the timer handler is run as the result of
a "software interrupt" that should not call any other function
that could sleep.

The device_is_registered() in nfc core is used to check whether
nfc device is registered in netlink related functions such as
nfc_fw_download(), nfc_dev_up() and so on. Although device_is_registered()
is protected by device_lock, there is still a race condition between
device_del() and device_is_registered(). The root cause is that
kobject_del() in device_del() is not protected by device_lock.

The device_is_registered() returns the value of state_in_sysfs and
the state_in_sysfs is set to zero in kobject_del(). If we pass check in
position (1), then set zero in position (2). As a result, the check
in position (1) is useless.
This patch uses bool variable instead of device_is_registered() to judge
whether the nfc device is registered, which is well synchronized.

To fix the UAF, this patch adds flush_workqueue() to ensure the
nci_cmd_work is finished before the following del_timer_sync.

Commit 3e3b5dfcd16a ("NFC: reorder the logic in nfc_{un,}register_device")
assumes the device_is_registered() in function nfc_dev_up() will help
to check when the rfkill is unregistered. However, this check only

This patch just add the null out of dev->rfkill to make sure such

skb_recv_datagram() has two parameters 'flags' and 'noblock' that are
merged inside skb_recv_datagram() by 'flags | (noblock ? MSG_DONTWAIT : 0)'
As 'flags' may contain MSG_DONTWAIT as value most callers split the 'flags'
into 'flags' and 'noblock' with finally obsolete bit operations like this:
skb_recv_datagram(sk, flags & ~MSG_DONTWAIT, flags & MSG_DONTWAIT, &rc);
And this is not even done consistently with the 'flags' parameter.
This patch removes the obsolete and costly splitting into two parameters
and only performs bit operations when really needed on the caller side.
One missing conversion thankfully reported by kernel test robot. I missed
to enable kunit tests to build the mctp code.

The commit brought a new socket state LLCP_DISCONNECTING, which was
never set, only read, so socket could never set to such state.
Remove the dead code.

nfc_llcp_sock_link() is called in all paths (bind/connect) as a last
action, still protected with lock_sock(). When cleaning up in
llcp_sock_release(), call nfc_llcp_sock_unlink() in a mirrored way:
earlier and still under the lock_sock().

Coding style encourages centralized exiting of functions, so rewrite
llcp_sock_bind() error paths to use such pattern. This reduces the
duplicated cleanup code, make success path visually shorter and also
cleans up the errors in proper order (in reversed way from
initialization).
No functional impact expected.

Nullify the llcp_sock->dev on llcp_sock_connect() error paths,
symmetrically to the code llcp_sock_bind(). The non-NULL value of
llcp_sock->dev is used in a few places to check whether the socket is
still valid.
There was no particular issue observed with missing NULL assignment in
connect() error path, however a similar case - in the bind() error path
- was triggereable. That one was fixed in commit 4ac06a1e013c ("nfc:
fix NULL ptr dereference in llcp_sock_getname() after failed connect"),
so the change here seems logical as well.

The issue was visible only with multiple simultaneous calls to bind() and
sendmsg(), which resulted in most of the bind() calls to fail. The
bind() was failing on checking if there is available WKS/SDP/SAP
(respective bit in 'struct nfc_llcp_local' fields). When there was no
available WKS/SDP/SAP, the bind returned error but the sendmsg() to such
socket was able to trigger mentioned NULL pointer dereference of
nfc_llcp_sock->dev.
The code looks simply racy and currently it protects several paths
against race with checks for (!nfc_llcp_sock->local) which is NULL-ified
in error paths of bind(). The llcp_sock_sendmsg() did not have such
check but called function nfc_llcp_send_ui_frame() had, although not
protected with lock_sock().

The nfc_llcp_send_ui_frame() checked llcp_sock->local outside of the
lock, which is racy and ineffective check. Instead, its caller
llcp_sock_sendmsg(), should perform the check inside lock_sock().

For the above two UAF, the root cause is that the nfc_dev_up can race
between the nci_unregister_device routine. Therefore, this patch
introduce NCI_UNREG flag to easily eliminate the possible race. In

There is a potential UAF between the unregistration routine and the NFC
netlink operations.
The race that cause that UAF can be shown as below:

The root cause for this race is concluded below:
1. The rfkill_blocked (USE) in nfc_dev_up is supposed to be placed after
the device_is_registered check.
2. Since the netlink operations are possible just after the device_add
in nfc_register_device, the nfc_dev_up() can happen anywhere during the
rfkill creation process, which leads to data race.
This patch reorder these actions to permit
1. Once device_del is finished, the nfc_dev_up cannot dereference the
rfkill object.
2. The rfkill_register need to be placed after the device_add of nfc_dev
because the parent device need to be created first. So this patch keeps
the order but inject device_lock to prevent the data race.

The CAP_NET_ADMIN checks are needed to prevent attackers faking a
device under NCIUARTSETDRIVER and exploit privileged commands.
This patch add GENL_ADMIN_PERM flags in genl_ops to fulfill the check.
Except for commands like NFC_CMD_GET_DEVICE, NFC_CMD_GET_TARGET,
NFC_CMD_LLC_GET_PARAMS, and NFC_CMD_GET_SE, which are mainly information-
read operations.

Pull tty / serial driver updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of tty and serial driver updates for 5.16-rc1.
Nothing major in here at all, just lots of tiny serial and tty driver
updates for various reported things, and some good cleanups. These
include:
- more good tty api cleanups from Jiri
- stm32 serial driver updates
- softlockup fix for non-preempt systems under high serial load
- rpmsg serial driver update
- 8250 drivers updates and fixes
- n_gsm line discipline fixes and updates as people are finally
starting to use it.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while now with no reported
issues"

digital_in_send_cmd() failed, which will cause memory leak. Fix it
by freeing 'skb' if digital_in_send_cmd() return failed.

When nfc proto id is using, nfc_proto_register() return -EBUSY error
code, but forgot to unregister proto. Fix it by adding proto_unregister()
in the error handling case.

The nci_core_conn_close_rsp_packet() function will release the conn_info
with given conn_id. However, it needs to set the rf_conn_info to NULL to
prevent other routines like nci_rf_intf_activated_ntf_packet() to trigger
the UAF.
