commit d6b340d7cb33c816ef4abe8143764ec5ab14a5cc upstream.
The meddlesome gcc warns about the possible shortname string in
trident driver code:
sound/pci/trident/trident.c: In function ‘snd_trident_probe’:
sound/pci/trident/trident.c:126:2: warning: ‘strcat’ accessing 17 or more bytes at offsets 36 and 20 may overlap 1 byte at offset 36 [-Wrestrict]
strcat(card->shortname, card->driver);
It happens since gcc calculates the possible string size from
card->driver, but this can't be true since we did set the string just
before that, and they are much shorter.
For shutting it up, use the exactly same string set to card->driver
for strcat() to card->shortname, too.

commit 7194eda1ba0872d917faf3b322540b4f57f11ba5 upstream.
The function snd_ac97_put_spsa() gets the bit shift value from the
associated private_value, but it extracts too much; the current code
extracts 8 bit values in bits 8-15, but this is a combination of two
nibbles (bits 8-11 and bits 12-15) for left and right shifts.
Due to the incorrect bits extraction, the actual shift may go beyond
the 32bit value, as spotted recently by UBSAN check:
UBSAN: Undefined behaviour in sound/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:836:7
shift exponent 68 is too large for 32-bit type 'int'
This patch fixes the shift value extraction by masking the properly
with 0x0f instead of 0xff.

commit ac237c28d5ac1b241d58b1b7b4b9fa10efb22fb5 upstream.
The Creative Audigy SE (SB0570) card currently exhibits an audible pop
whenever playback is stopped or resumed, or during silent periods of an
audio stream. Initialise the IZD bit to the 0 to eliminate these pops.
The Infinite Zero Detection (IZD) feature on the DAC causes the output
to be shunted to Vcap after 2048 samples of silence. This discharges the
AC coupling capacitor through the output and causes the aforementioned
pop/click noise.
The behaviour of the IZD bit is described on page 15 of the WM8768GEDS
datasheet: "With IZD=1, applying MUTE for 1024 consecutive input samples
will cause all outputs to be connected directly to VCAP. This also
happens if 2048 consecutive zero input samples are applied to all 6
channels, and IZD=0. It will be removed as soon as any channel receives
a non-zero input". I believe the second sentence might be referring to
IZD=1 instead of IZD=0 given the observed behaviour of the card.
This change should make the DAC initialisation consistent with
Creative's Windows driver, as this popping persists when initialising
the card in Linux and soft rebooting into Windows, but is not present on
a cold boot to Windows.

[ Upstream commit 0420694dddeb9e269a1ab2129a0119a5cea294a4 ]
Acer Aspire V5 with the ALC282 codec is given the wrong value for the
0x19 PIN by the laptop's BIOS. Overriding it with the correct value
adds support for the headset microphone which would not otherwise be
visible in the system.
The fix is based on commit 7819717b1134 with a similar quirk for Acer
Aspire with the ALC269 codec.

commit 49434c6c575d2008c0abbc93e615019f39e01252 upstream.
snd_emu10k1_fx8010_ioctl(SNDRV_EMU10K1_IOCTL_INFO) allocates
memory using kmalloc() and partially fills it by calling
snd_emu10k1_fx8010_info() before returning the resulting
structure to userspace, leaving uninitialized holes. Let's
just use kzalloc() here.

commit 69756930f2de0457d51db7d505a1e4f40e9fd116 upstream.
One place in cs5535audio_build_dma_packets() does an extra conversion
via cpu_to_le32(); namely jmpprd_addr is passed to setup_prd() ops,
which writes the value via cs_writel(). That is, the callback does
the conversion by itself, and we don't need to convert beforehand.
This patch fixes that bogus conversion.

commit a3aa60d511746bd6c0d0366d4eb90a7998bcde8b upstream.
When 'kzalloc()' fails in 'snd_hda_attach_pcm_stream()', a new pcm instance is
created without setting its operators via 'snd_pcm_set_ops()'. Following
operations on the new pcm instance can trigger kernel null pointer dereferences
and cause kernel oops.
This bug was found with my work on building a gray-box fault-injection tool for
linux-kernel-module binaries. A kernel null pointer dereference was confirmed
from line 'substream->ops->open()' in function 'snd_pcm_open_substream()' in
file 'sound/core/pcm_native.c'.
This patch fixes the bug by calling 'snd_device_free()' in the error handling
path of 'kzalloc()', which removes the new pcm instance from the snd card before
returns with an error code.

While converting the error messages to the standard macros in the
commit 4e76a8833fac ("ALSA: hda - Replace with standard printk"), a

almost negligible, merely shows a dB value as negative integer instead
of positive integer (or vice versa) in the rare error message.
So let's kill this embarrassing byte to show more correct value.

commit 13f99ebdd602ebdafb909e15ec6ffb1e34690167 upstream.
The latest gcc-7.0.1 snapshot points out that we if nr_ch is zero, we never
initialize some variables:
sound/pci/au88x0/au88x0_core.c: In function 'vortex_adb_allocroute':
sound/pci/au88x0/au88x0_core.c:2304:68: error: 'mix[0]' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized]
sound/pci/au88x0/au88x0_core.c:2305:58: error: 'src[0]' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized]
I assume this can never happen in practice, but adding a check here doesn't
hurt either and avoids the warning. The code has been unchanged since
the start of git history.

Fix it by replacing them with a simpler sizeof(stream->resources)

commit a8f20fd25bdce81a8e41767c39f456d346b63427 upstream.
Recently we met a problem, the codec has valid adcs and input pins,
and they can form valid input paths, but the driver does not build
valid controls for them like "Mic boost", "Capture Volume" and
"Capture Switch".
Through debugging, I found the driver needs to shrink the invalid
adcs and input paths for this machine, so it will move the whole
column bitmap value to the previous column, after moving it, the
driver forgets to set the original column bitmap value to zero, as a
result, the driver will invalidate the path whose index value is the
original colume bitmap value. After executing this function, all
valid input paths are invalidated by a mistake, there are no any
valid input paths, so the driver won't build controls for them.

This laptop needs GPIO4 pulled high to enable the headphone amplifier,
and has a mute LED on GPIO3. I modelled the patch on the existing
GPIO4 code which pulls the line low for the same purpose; this time,
the HP amp line is pulled high.
v2: Disable the headphone amplifier when no headphone is connected.
Don't disable power savings to preserve the LED state.
v3: Remove headset-specific hooks and code; this is just a headphone.

'commpage_bak' is allocated with 'sizeof(struct echoaudio)' bytes.
We then copy 'sizeof(struct comm_page)' bytes in it.
On my system, smatch complains because one is 2960 and the other is 3072.
This would result in memory corruption or a oops.

patch fixes it. Patch tested on N751 laptop. N551 part is not tested,
but according to [1] and [2] this laptop requires similar changes, so I
included them in the patch.
