* ALSA: bebob: use more identical mod_alias for Saffire Pro 10 I/O against ↵Takashi Sakamoto2019-07-091-1/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Liquid Saffire 56 commit 7dc661bd8d3261053b69e4e2d0050cd1ee540fc1 upstream. ALSA bebob driver has an entry for Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 I/O. The entry matches vendor_id in root directory and model_id in unit directory of configuration ROM for IEEE 1394 bus. On the other hand, configuration ROM of Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 has the same vendor_id and model_id. This device is an application of TCAT Dice (TCD2220 a.k.a Dice Jr.) however ALSA bebob driver can be bound to it randomly instead of ALSA dice driver. At present, drivers in ALSA firewire stack can not handle this situation appropriately. This commit uses more identical mod_alias for Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 I/O in ALSA bebob driver. $ python2 crpp < /sys/bus/firewire/devices/fw1/config_rom ROM header and bus information block ----------------------------------------------------------------- 400 042a829d bus_info_length 4, crc_length 42, crc 33437 404 31333934 bus_name "1394" 408 f0649222 irmc 1, cmc 1, isc 1, bmc 1, pmc 0, cyc_clk_acc 100, max_rec 9 (1024), max_rom 2, gen 2, spd 2 (S400) 40c 00130e01 company_id 00130e | 410 000606e0 device_id 01000606e0 | EUI-64 00130e01000606e0 root directory ----------------------------------------------------------------- 414 0009d31c directory_length 9, crc 54044 418 04000014 hardware version 41c 0c0083c0 node capabilities per IEEE 1394 420 0300130e vendor 424 81000012 --> descriptor leaf at 46c 428 17000006 model 42c 81000016 --> descriptor leaf at 484 430 130120c2 version 434 d1000002 --> unit directory at 43c 438 d4000006 --> dependent info directory at 450 unit directory at 43c ----------------------------------------------------------------- 43c 0004707c directory_length 4, crc 28796 440 1200a02d specifier id: 1394 TA 444 13010001 version: AV/C 448 17000006 model 44c 81000013 --> descriptor leaf at 498 dependent info directory at 450 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 450 000637c7 directory_length 6, crc 14279 454 120007f5 specifier id 458 13000001 version 45c 3affffc7 (immediate value) 460 3b100000 (immediate value) 464 3cffffc7 (immediate value) 468 3d600000 (immediate value) descriptor leaf at 46c ----------------------------------------------------------------- 46c 00056f3b leaf_length 5, crc 28475 470 00000000 textual descriptor 474 00000000 minimal ASCII 478 466f6375 "Focu" 47c 73726974 "srit" 480 65000000 "e" descriptor leaf at 484 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 484 0004a165 leaf_length 4, crc 41317 488 00000000 textual descriptor 48c 00000000 minimal ASCII 490 50726f31 "Pro1" 494 30494f00 "0IO" descriptor leaf at 498 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 498 0004a165 leaf_length 4, crc 41317 49c 00000000 textual descriptor 4a0 00000000 minimal ASCII 4a4 50726f31 "Pro1" 4a8 30494f00 "0IO" $ python2 crpp < /sys/bus/firewire/devices/fw1/config_rom ROM header and bus information block ----------------------------------------------------------------- 400 040442e4 bus_info_length 4, crc_length 4, crc 17124 404 31333934 bus_name "1394" 408 e0ff8112 irmc 1, cmc 1, isc 1, bmc 0, pmc 0, cyc_clk_acc 255, max_rec 8 (512), max_rom 1, gen 1, spd 2 (S400) 40c 00130e04 company_id 00130e | 410 018001e9 device_id 04018001e9 | EUI-64 00130e04018001e9 root directory ----------------------------------------------------------------- 414 00065612 directory_length 6, crc 22034 418 0300130e vendor 41c 8100000a --> descriptor leaf at 444 420 17000006 model 424 8100000e --> descriptor leaf at 45c 428 0c0087c0 node capabilities per IEEE 1394 42c d1000001 --> unit directory at 430 unit directory at 430 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 430 000418a0 directory_length 4, crc 6304 434 1200130e specifier id 438 13000001 version 43c 17000006 model 440 8100000f --> descriptor leaf at 47c descriptor leaf at 444 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 444 00056f3b leaf_length 5, crc 28475 448 00000000 textual descriptor 44c 00000000 minimal ASCII 450 466f6375 "Focu" 454 73726974 "srit" 458 65000000 "e" descriptor leaf at 45c ----------------------------------------------------------------- 45c 000762c6 leaf_length 7, crc 25286 460 00000000 textual descriptor 464 00000000 minimal ASCII 468 4c495155 "LIQU" 46c 49445f53 "ID_S" 470 41464649 "AFFI" 474 52455f35 "RE_5" 478 36000000 "6" descriptor leaf at 47c ----------------------------------------------------------------- 47c 000762c6 leaf_length 7, crc 25286 480 00000000 textual descriptor 484 00000000 minimal ASCII 488 4c495155 "LIQU" 48c 49445f53 "ID_S" 490 41464649 "AFFI" 494 52455f35 "RE_5" 498 36000000 "6" Fixes: 25784ec2d034 ("ALSA: bebob: Add support for Focusrite Saffire/SaffirePro series") Signed-off-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 2bc16b9f3223d049b57202ee702fcb5b9b507019 upstream. The commit a60945fd08e4 ("ALSA: usb-audio: move implicit fb quirks to separate function") introduced an error in the handling of quirks for implicit feedback endpoints. This commit fixes this. If a quirk successfully sets up an implicit feedback endpoint, usb-audio no longer tries to find the implicit fb endpoint itself. * ASoC: tlv320aic32x4: Kernel OOPS while entering DAPM standby modeb-ak2019-05-021-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 667e9334fa64da2273e36ce131b05ac9e47c5769 upstream. During the bootup of the kernel, the DAPM bias level is in the OFF state. As soon as the DAPM framework kicks in it pushes the codec into STANDBY state. The probe function doesn't prepare the clock, and STANDBY state does a clk_disable_unprepare() without checking the previous state. This leads to an OOPS. Not transitioning from an OFF state to the STANDBY state fixes the problem. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit cbb2ebf70daf7f7d97d3811a2ff8e39655b8c184 upstream. In `create_composite_quirk`, the terminating condition of for loops is `quirk->ifnum < 0`. So any composite quirks should end with `struct snd_usb_audio_quirk` object with ifnum < 0. for (quirk = quirk_comp->data; quirk->ifnum >= 0; ++quirk) { ..... } the data field of Bower's & Wilkins PX headphones usb device device quirks do not end with {.ifnum = -1}, wihch may result in out-of-bound read. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 3e96d7280f16e2f787307f695a31296b9e4a1cd7 upstream. There are a few places where we access the data without checking the actual object size from the USB audio descriptor. This may result in OOB access, as recently reported. This patch addresses these missing checks. Most of added codes are simple bLength checks in the caller side. For the input and output terminal parsers, we put the length check in the parser functions. For the input terminal, a new argument is added to distinguish between UAC1 and the rest, as they treat different objects. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 63d2a9ec310d8bcc955574220d4631aa55c1a80c upstream. Even after disabling interrupts on the module, it could be possible that irq handlers are still running. System hang is seen during suspend path. It was found that, there were pending writes on the HDA bus and clock was disabled by that time. * ALSA: usb-audio: Fix UAF decrement if card has no live interfaces in card.cHui Peng2019-02-111-1/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 5f8cf712582617d523120df67d392059eaf2fc4b upstream. If a USB sound card reports 0 interfaces, an error condition is triggered and the function usb_audio_probe errors out. In the error path, there was a use-after-free vulnerability where the memory object of the card was first freed, followed by a decrement of the number of active chips. Moving the decrement above the atomic_dec fixes the UAF. [ The original problem was introduced in 3.1 kernel, while it was developed in a different form. * ALSA: usb-audio: Avoid nested autoresume callsTakashi Iwai2019-02-117-133/+141
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 47ab154593827b1a8f0713a2b9dd445753d551d8 upstream. After the recent fix of runtime PM for USB-audio driver, we got a lockdep warning like: ============================================= [ INFO: possible recursive locking detected ] 4.2.0-rc8+ #61 Not tainted --------------------------------------------- pulseaudio/980 is trying to acquire lock: (&chip->shutdown_rwsem){.+.+.+}, at: [<ffffffffa0355dac>] snd_usb_autoresume+0x1d/0x52 [snd_usb_audio] but task is already holding lock: (&chip->shutdown_rwsem){.+.+.+}, at: [<ffffffffa0355dac>] snd_usb_autoresume+0x1d/0x52 [snd_usb_audio] This comes from snd_usb_autoresume() invoking down_read() and it's used in a nested way. Although it's basically safe, per se (as these are read locks), it's better to reduce such spurious warnings. The read lock is needed to guarantee the execution of "shutdown" (cleanup at disconnection) task after all concurrent tasks are finished. This can be implemented in another better way. Also, the current check of chip->in_pm isn't good enough for protecting the racy execution of multiple auto-resumes. This patch rewrites the logic of snd_usb_autoresume() & co; namely, - The recursive call of autopm is avoided by the new refcount, chip->active. The chip->in_pm flag is removed accordingly. - Instead of rwsem, another refcount, chip->usage_count, is introduced for tracking the period to delay the shutdown procedure. At the last clear of this refcount, wake_up() to the shutdown waiter is called. - The shutdown flag is replaced with shutdown atomic count; this is for reducing the lock. - Two new helpers are introduced to simplify the management of these refcounts; snd_usb_lock_shutdown() increases the usage_count, checks the shutdown state, and does autoresume. snd_usb_unlock_shutdown() does the opposite. Most of mixer and other codes just need this, and simply returns an error if it receives an error from lock. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit b51abed8355e5556886623b2772fa6b7598d2282 upstream. Currently the PCM core calls snd_pcm_unlink() always unconditionally at closing a stream. However, since snd_pcm_unlink() invokes the global rwsem down, the lock can be easily contended. More badly, when a thread runs in a high priority RT-FIFO, it may stall at spinning. Basically the call of snd_pcm_unlink() is required only for the linked streams that are already rare occasion. For normal use cases, this code path is fairly superfluous. As an optimization (and also as a workaround for the RT problem above in normal situations without linked streams), this patch adds a check before calling snd_pcm_unlink() and calls it only when needed. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit e1a7bfe3807974e66f971f2589d4e0197ec0fced upstream. The procedure for adding a user control element has some window opened for race against the concurrent removal of a user element. This was caught by syzkaller, hitting a KASAN use-after-free error. This patch addresses the bug by wrapping the whole procedure to add a user control element with the card->controls_rwsem, instead of only around the increment of card->user_ctl_count. This required a slight code refactoring, too. The function snd_ctl_add() is split to two parts: a core function to add the control element and a part calling it. The former is called from the function for adding a user control element inside the controls_rwsem. One change to be noted is that snd_ctl_notify() for adding a control element gets called inside the controls_rwsem as well while it was called outside the rwsem. But this should be OK, as snd_ctl_notify() takes another (finer) rwlock instead of rwsem, and the call of snd_ctl_notify() inside rwsem is already done in another code path. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 7194eda1ba0872d917faf3b322540b4f57f11ba5 upstream. The function snd_ac97_put_spsa() gets the bit shift value from the associated private_value, but it extracts too much; the current code extracts 8 bit values in bits 8-15, but this is a combination of two nibbles (bits 8-11 and bits 12-15) for left and right shifts. Due to the incorrect bits extraction, the actual shift may go beyond the 32bit value, as spotted recently by UBSAN check: UBSAN: Undefined behaviour in sound/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:836:7 shift exponent 68 is too large for 32-bit type 'int' This patch fixes the shift value extraction by masking the properly with 0x0f instead of 0xff. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 65766ee0bf7fe8b3be80e2e1c3ef54ad59b29476 upstream. PCM OSS layer may allocate a few temporary buffers, one for the core read/write and another for the conversions via plugins. Currently both are allocated via vmalloc(). The Creative Audigy SE (SB0570) card currently exhibits an audible pop whenever playback is stopped or resumed, or during silent periods of an audio stream. Initialise the IZD bit to the 0 to eliminate these pops. The Infinite Zero Detection (IZD) feature on the DAC causes the output to be shunted to Vcap after 2048 samples of silence. This discharges the AC coupling capacitor through the output and causes the aforementioned pop/click noise. The behaviour of the IZD bit is described on page 15 of the WM8768GEDS datasheet: "With IZD=1, applying MUTE for 1024 consecutive input samples will cause all outputs to be connected directly to VCAP. This also happens if 2048 consecutive zero input samples are applied to all 6 channels, and IZD=0. It will be removed as soon as any channel receives a non-zero input". I believe the second sentence might be referring to IZD=1 instead of IZD=0 given the observed behaviour of the card. This change should make the DAC initialisation consistent with Creative's Windows driver, as this popping persists when initialising the card in Linux and soft rebooting into Windows, but is not present on a cold boot to Windows. * ALSA: hda - Handle kzalloc() failure in snd_hda_attach_pcm_stream()Bo Chen2018-11-201-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit a3aa60d511746bd6c0d0366d4eb90a7998bcde8b upstream. When 'kzalloc()' fails in 'snd_hda_attach_pcm_stream()', a new pcm instance is created without setting its operators via 'snd_pcm_set_ops()'. Following operations on the new pcm instance can trigger kernel null pointer dereferences and cause kernel oops. This bug was found with my work on building a gray-box fault-injection tool for linux-kernel-module binaries. A kernel null pointer dereference was confirmed from line 'substream->ops->open()' in function 'snd_pcm_open_substream()' in file 'sound/core/pcm_native.c'. This patch fixes the bug by calling 'snd_device_free()' in the error handling path of 'kzalloc()', which removes the new pcm instance from the snd card before returns with an error code. * ALSA: core: Assure control device to be registered at lastTakashi Iwai2018-11-201-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit dc82e52492f684dcd5ed9e4773e72dbf2203d75e upstream. The commit 289ca025ee1d ("ALSA: Use priority list for managing device list") changed the way to register/disconnect/free devices via a single priority list. This helped to make behavior consistent, but it also changed a slight behavior change: namely, the control device is registered earlier than others, while it was supposed to be the very last one. I've put SNDRV_DEV_CONTROL in the current position as the release of ctl elements often conflict with the private ctl elements some PCM or other components may create, which often leads to a double-free. But, the order of register and disconnect should be indeed fixed as expected in the early days: the control device gets registered at last, and disconnected at first. This patch changes the priority list order to move SNDRV_DEV_CONTROL as the last guy to assure the register / disconnect order. Meanwhile, for keeping the messy resource release order, manually treat the control and lowlevel devices as last freed one. Additional note: The lowlevel device is the device where a card driver creates at probe. And, we still keep the release order control -> lowlevel, as there might be link from a control element back to a lowlevel object. * ALSA: hda/ca0132: fix build failure when a local macro is definedTakashi Sakamoto2018-11-201-2/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 8e142e9e628975b0dddd05cf1b095331dff6e2de upstream. DECLARE_TLV_DB_SCALE (alias of SNDRV_CTL_TLVD_DECLARE_DB_SCALE) is used but tlv.h is not included. This causes build failure when local macro is defined by comment-out. This commit fixes the bug. At the same time, the alias macro is replaced with a destination macro added at a commit 46e860f76804 ("ALSA: rename TLV-related macros so that they're friendly to user applications") Reported-by: Connor McAdams <conmanx360@gmail.com> Fixes: 44f0c9782cc6 ('ALSA: hda/ca0132: Add tuning controls') Signed-off-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk>
