* mm/slab: rename CONFIG_SLAB to CONFIG_SLAB_DEPRECATEDVlastimil Babka2023-05-261-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As discussed at LSF/MM [1] [2] and with no objections raised there, deprecate the SLAB allocator. Rename the user-visible option so that users with CONFIG_SLAB=y get a new prompt with explanation during make oldconfig, while make olddefconfig will just switch to SLUB. In all defconfigs with CONFIG_SLAB=y remove the line so those also switch to SLUB. Regressions due to the switch should be reported to linux-mm and slab maintainers. * treewide: defconfig: address renamed CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO=yArnd Bergmann2022-09-111-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO is now implicitly selected if one picks one of the explicit options that could be DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT, DEBUG_INFO_DWARF4, DEBUG_INFO_DWARF5. This was actually not what I had in mind when I suggested making it a 'choice' statement, but it's too late to change again now, and the Kconfig logic is more sensible in the new form. Change any defconfig file that had CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO enabled but did not pick DWARF4 or DWARF5 explicitly to now pick the toolchain default. * arch: sh: Remove CONFIG_OPROFILE supportViresh Kumar2021-01-291-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The "oprofile" user-space tools don't use the kernel OPROFILE support any more, and haven't in a long time. User-space has been converted to the perf interfaces. Remove the old oprofile's architecture specific support. * all arch: remove system call sys_sysctlXiaoming Ni2020-08-141-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since commit 61a47c1ad3a4dc ("sysctl: Remove the sysctl system call"), sys_sysctl is actually unavailable: any input can only return an error. We have been warning about people using the sysctl system call for years and believe there are no more users. Even if there are users of this interface if they have not complained or fixed their code by now they probably are not going to, so there is no point in warning them any longer. So completely remove sys_sysctl on all architectures. * sh: configs: Cleanup old Kconfig IO scheduler optionsKrzysztof Kozlowski2020-06-011-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ are gone since commit f382fb0bcef4 ("block: remove legacy IO schedulers"). The IOSCHED_DEADLINE was replaced by MQ_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and it will be now enabled by default (along with MQ_IOSCHED_KYBER). The BFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED is the only multiqueue scheduler which comes with group scheduling so select it in configs previously choosing CFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED. * sh: configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHKrzysztof Kozlowski2019-06-101-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because: 1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). * sh: Set CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2=nMatt Fleming2010-09-141-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | As the help for the config option suggests, this option really shouldn't be set by default for any recent distribution as it changes the layout of sysfs. I spotted this while running debian when udev got very confused by the sysfs layout and failed to create some device nodes.
