This is the example case from the patch set, others will follow. mediatek,mt6359-auxadc - New driver for this ADC IP found in MT6357, MT6358 and MT6359 PMICs. st,accel - Add support for the LIS2DS12 accelerometer ti,ads1119 - New driver for this 16 bit 2-differential or 4-single ended channel ADC. Features ======== dt-bindings - Introduce new common-mode-channel property to help handle pseudo differential ADCs where we have something that looks like one side of differential input, but which is only suited for use with a slow moving reference. adi,adf4350 - Support use as a clock provider. iio-hmwon - Support reading of labels from IIO devices by their consumers and use this in the hwmon bridge. Cleanup and minor fixes ======================= Treewide - Use regmap_clear_bits() / regmap_set_bits() to simplify open coded equivalents. - Use devm_regulator_get_enable_read_voltage() to replace equivalent opencoded boilerplate. In some cases enabled complete conversion to devm handling and removal of explicit remove() callbacks. - Introduce dev_err_ptr_probe() and other variants and make use of of them in a couple of examples driver cleanups. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. Instead of doing this in each and every driver by hand move this into the core. At this point in time, all drivers should have been resolved to attach/detach the poll-function in the same order. This patch removes all explicit calls of iio_triggered_buffer_postenable() & iio_triggered_buffer_predisable() in all drivers, since the core handles now the pollfunc attach/detach. The more peculiar change is for the 'at91-sama5d2_adc' driver, since it's not immediately obvious that removing the hooks doesn't break anything. Eugen was able to test on at91-sama5d2-adc driver, sama5d2-xplained board. All seems to be fine. This automatic assignment is done in the iio_device_register() function. There is a fair amount of drivers that currently manually assign the of_node of the IIO device. All but 4 of them can make use of the automatic assignment though. The exceptions are: * mxs-lradc-adc: Which uses the of_node of the parent of the parent. * stm32-dfsdm-adc, stm32-adc and stm32-dac: Which reference the of_node assigned to the IIO device before iio_device_register() is called. All other drivers are updated to use automatic assignment. This reduces the amount of boilerplate code involved in setting up the IIO device. This semantic patch also removes some comments like '/* Establish that the iio_dev is a child of the i2c device */' But this is is only done in case where the block is left empty. The patch does not seem to cover all cases. It looks like in some cases a different variable is used in some cases to assign the parent, but it points to the same reference. In other cases, the block covered by ... may be just too big to be covered by the semantic patch. However, this looks pretty good as well, as it does cover a big bulk of the drivers that should remove the parent assignment. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The AD7266 have no in-tree users making use of the platform data mechanism to pass address GPIO lines when not using a fixed address, so we can easily convert this to use GPIO descriptors instead of the platform data integers currently passed. Lowercase the labels "ad0".."ad2" as this will make a better fit for platform descriptions like device tree that prefer lowercase names such as "ad0-gpios" rather than "AD0-gpios". Board files and other static users of this device can pass the same GPIO descriptors using machine descriptor tables if need be. These are actually all using level interrupts, but at least two known boards have them wired to edge only interrupt chips. Hence a slightly interesting bit of handling is needed in which we first allow for the easy option (level triggered) and secondly check the status registers before reenabling edge interrupts and fall back to a tight loop in the thread until we successfully clear the interrupt. No harm is done if we never succeed in doing so. It's an odd patch that has been through a lot of revisions to reach a consensus on how to handle what is basically broken hardware (which the previous defaults allowed to kind of work). - Fix alignment to defined storagebytes boundaries. - Ensure alignment of power of 2 byte boundaries. This has always in theory been part of the ABI of IIO, but we missed a few that snuck in that need fixing. The effect was minor as they were only followed by timestamp channels which were correctly aligned, - Add some docs to explain the gain calculations.

This doesn't work with the current code since the driver uses a normal regulator_get() which is for non-optional supplies and so assumes that if a regulator is not provided by the platform then this is a bug in the platform integration and so substitutes a dummy regulator. Use regulator_get_optional() instead which indicates to the framework that the regulator may be absent and provides a dummy regulator instead.
