* ARM: 8113/1: remove remaining definitions of PLAT_PHYS_OFFSET from ↵Uwe Kleine-König2014-07-291-5/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | <mach/memory.h> The platforms selecting NEED_MACH_MEMORY_H defined the start address of their physical memory in the respective <mach/memory.h>. With ARM_PATCH_PHYS_VIRT=y (which is quite common today) this is useless though because the definition isn't used but determined dynamically. So remove the definitions from all <mach/memory.h> and provide the Kconfig symbol PHYS_OFFSET with the respective defaults in case ARM_PATCH_PHYS_VIRT isn't enabled. This allows to drop the dependency of PHYS_OFFSET on !NEED_MACH_MEMORY_H which prevents compiling an integrator nommu-kernel. (CONFIG_PAGE_OFFSET which has "default PHYS_OFFSET if !MMU" expanded to "0x" because CONFIG_PHYS_OFFSET doesn't exist as INTEGRATOR selects NEED_MACH_MEMORY_H.) (For multi-platform code it's already unused since 387798b (ARM: initial multiplatform support).) To make this work some code out of arch/arm needed to be adapted. The respective changes got acks by their maintainers to be taken via armsoc (with Andrew Morton substituting for Alessandro Zummo as rtc maintainer). Compared to the previous pull request there was another patch added that fixes a (non-critical) regression on ixp4xx. Olof Johansson asked to not squash this fix into the original commit to save him from the need to reverify the series. * tag 'dropmachtimexh-v2' of git://git.pengutronix.de/git/ukl/linux: ARM: ixp4xx: fix timer latch calculation ARM: drop <mach/timex.h> for !ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM, too ARM: rpc: stop using <mach/timex.h> ARM: ixp4xx: stop using <mach/timex.h> input: ixp4xx-beeper: don't use symbols from <mach/timex.h> ARM: at91: don't use <mach/timex.h> ARM: ep93xx: stop using mach/timex.h ARM: mmp: stop using mach/timex.h ARM: netx: stop using mach/timex.h ARM: sa1100: stop using mach/timex.h clocksource: sirf/marco+prima2: drop usage of CLOCK_TICK_RATE rtc: pxa: drop unused #define TIMER_FREQ rtc: at91sam9: include <mach/hardware.h> explicitly ARM/serial: at91: switch atmel serial to use gpiolib Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>

| * | ARM: 7991/1: sa1100: fix compile problem on CollieLinus Walleij2014-03-071-0/+2
|/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Due to a problem in the MFD Kconfig it was not possible to compile the UCB battery driver for the Collie SA1100 system, in turn making it impossible to compile in the battery driver. (See patch "mfd: include all drivers in subsystem menu".) After fixing the MFD Kconfig (separate patch) a compile error appears in the Collie battery driver due to the <mach/collie.h> implicitly requiring <mach/hardware.h> through <linux/gpio.h> via <mach/gpio.h> prior to commit 40ca061b "ARM: 7841/1: sa1100: remove complex GPIO interface". * / ARM: sa11x0: assabet: better reset handlingRussell King2013-12-121-2/+4
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The codec reset pin is connected to several peripherals. When the reset is released, unfortunately the ADV7171 powers itself up rather than remaining in power-down mode. As we don't have a driver for this device, we end up needlessly consuming an additional 330mW. Not only that but we should have a way to arbitrate the reset signal. This patch provides that facility: we program the ADV7171 to sleep mode whenever the reset is released, and we release the reset when any one of the three peripherals requests the reset to be released. * ARM: 7841/1: sa1100: remove complex GPIO interfaceLinus Walleij2013-10-292-55/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The SA1100 was implementing its own variants of gpio_get_value() and gpio_set_value() and only selectively falling back to gpiolib for extended (EGPIO) handling. However the driver in gpio/gpio-sa1100.c already handles the same functionality for these lines, yet remain unused. The only upside would be things like a timing-critical hotpath on bit-banged GPIO, but that kind of things does not seem to happen on these GPIOs, so it is not worth having the extra complexity. Tested with some buttons on the Compaq iPAQ H3630. It's the introduction of the first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More platforms will be convered over in the next few releases. Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and possible: * Today each platform has its own include directory under mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead, and this branch moves a large number of those out to include/linux/platform_data. * Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot. Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move and once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry for the overhead." Essentially: - as we no longer support any other Acorn platforms other than RiscPC anymore, we can collect all that code into mach-rpc. - convert Acorn expansion card stuff to use IRQ allocation functions, and get rid of NO_IRQ from there. - cleanups to the ebsa110 platform to move some private stuff out of its header files. - large amount of SA11x0 updates: - conversion of private DMA implementation to DMA engine support (this actually gives us greater flexibility in drivers over the old API.) - re-worked ucb1x00 updates - convert to genirq, remove sa11x0 dependencies, fix various minor issues - move platform specific sa11x0 framebuffer data into platform files in arch/arm instead of keeping this in the driver itself - update sa11x0 IrDA driver for DMA engine, and allow it to use DMA for SIR transmissions as well as FIR - rework sa1111 support for genirq, and irq allocation - fix sa1111 IRQ support so it works again - use sparse IRQ support After this, I have one more pull request remaining from my current set, which I think is going to be the most problematical as it generates 8 conflicts." Fixed up the trivial conflict in arch/arm/mach-rpc/Makefile as per Russell. * 'platforms' of git://git.linaro.org/people/rmk/linux-arm: (125 commits) ARM: 7343/1: sa11x0: convert to sparse IRQ ARM: 7342/2: sa1100: prepare for sparse irq conversion ARM: 7341/1: input: prepare jornada720 keyboard and ts for sa11x0 sparse irq ARM: 7340/1: rtc: sa1100: include mach/irqs.h instead of asm/irq.h ARM: sa11x0: remove unused DMA controller definitions ARM: sa11x0: remove old SoC private DMA driver USB: sa1111: add hcd .reset method USB: sa1111: add OHCI shutdown methods USB: sa1111: reorganize ohci-sa1111.c USB: sa1111: get rid of nasty printk(KERN_DEBUG "%s: ...", __FILE__) USB: sa1111: sparse and checkpatch cleanups ARM: sa11x0: don't static map sa1111 ARM: sa1111: use dev_err() rather than printk() ARM: sa1111: cleanup sub-device registration and unregistration ARM: sa1111: only setup DMA for DMA capable devices ARM: sa1111: register sa1111 devices with dmabounce in bus notifier ARM: sa1111: move USB interface register definitions to ohci-sa1111.c ARM: sa1111: move PCMCIA interface register definitions to sa1111_generic.c ARM: sa1111: move PS/2 interface register definitions to sa1111p2.c ARM: sa1111: delete unused physical GPIO register definitions ...
