The problem is not new, only it is now no longer a warning but an error since W=1 has been enabled for the drm subsystem and since Werror is enabled for test builds. Rearrange arithmetic and use check_add_overflow() for validating the allocation size to avoid the overflow. While at it, split assignments out of if conditions. * | drm/nouveau/nvif: remove disp chan rd/wrBen Skeggs2024-07-271-37/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There's no good reason the ioremap() that results from nvif_object_map() should fail, so add a check that the map succeeded, and remove the rd/wr methods from display channel objects. As this was the last user of rd/wr methods, the nvif plumbing is removed at the same time. * | drm/nouveau/nvif: remove route/tokenBen Skeggs2024-07-271-3/+0
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | These were a cludge used to prevent userspace's nvif ioctl from accessing objects created by the kernel for the same client. That interface was removed in a previous patch, so these are no longer useful for anything. This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kzalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kzalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; * drm/nouveau/core/object: allow arguments to be passed to map functionBen Skeggs2017-11-021-28/+59

* drm/nouveau/nvif: simplify and tidy library interfacesBen Skeggs2015-08-281-94/+41
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A variety of tweaks to the NVIF library interfaces, mostly ripping out things that turned out to be not so useful. - Removed refcounting from nvif_object, callers are expected to not be stupid instead. - nvif_client is directly reachable from anything derived from nvif_object, removing the need for heuristics to locate it - _new() versions of interfaces, that allocate memory for the object they construct, have been removed. The vast majority of callers used the embedded _init() interfaces. - No longer storing constructor arguments (and the data returned from nvkm) inside nvif_object, it's more or less unused and just wastes memory. * drm/nouveau: remove symlinks, move core/ to nvkm/ (no code changes)Ben Skeggs2015-01-221-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | The symlinks were annoying some people, and they're not used anywhere else in the kernel tree. The include directory structure has been changed so that symlinks aren't needed anymore. NVKM has been moved from core/ to nvkm/ to make it more obvious as to what the directory is for, and as some minor prep for when NVKM gets split out into its own module (virt) at a later date. * drm/nouveau/nvif: return null pointers on failure, in addition to ret != 0Ben Skeggs2014-08-151-1/+3

* drm/nouveau/nvif: import library functions for the ioctl/event interfacesBen Skeggs2014-08-101-0/+302
This is a wrapper around the interfaces defined in an earlier commit, and is also used by various userspace (either by a libdrm backend, or libpciaccess) tools/tests. In the future this will be extended to handle channels, replacing some long-unloved code we currently use, and allow fifo/display/mpeg (hi Ilia ;)) engines to all be exposed in the same way.
